How is it justified when Hurts hasn’t took a single snap at starting QB or thrown a ball in a regular season game yet? How is it justified when they just signed Wentz to a massive payday a year ago? If it was justified Wentz would be on the trade market, and they would of went harder at a QB in first round.

Just remember it was a very different off season compared to past years, but the idea is to coach him up behind Wentz. He doesn’t need to see the field for that right now.

Well keep in mind they do believe they’re a QB factory.

Ah yes, there is that.   Patience Grasshopper.

That quote and when Doug said after the SB win this would be the Eagles "new normal"  make me puke.  Whenever I hear leadershiop say "new normal" after a productive period I know they ****s immediately and have no clue how to lead.

That’s fair. Just still hurts (no pun intended) when guys like Dobbins & Fulton could of been the pick instead, and they are producing on the field right now. Maybe the Hurts pick pays off in a year or two, but that likely means we whiffed on another QB & that sucks.

I remember taking a 2nd round pick that won't play, a 3rd roumd pick that plays as much as the 2nd roumd pick, a 4th round safety that is athletic and a hitter plays as much as the 2nd and 3rd rounders, and seemingly every player that the press said looked good in TC plays less than the 2nd rounder that won't play.

I'm bitter.  I'm letting Doug ruin football for me, but he just sucks so bad.

You know how many analytics geeks would've pissed themselves on here if they picked a RB in the 2nd round 2 years in a row? That's worse than the Hurts pick. No question.

I’m not judging the rookies too harshly with this modified off-season. Our veterans need to step up.

Similar bad use of resources? Sure. Worse than Hurts? Nahh. RBC worked for Eagles in ‘17, having a strong, dynamic running attack would help win games.

Yup. Jury is still out on Dillard, I’m willing to give him next season to prove his worth. JJAW on the other hand, i’m starting to get concerned.

I’ve always been a Howie homer, and after the SB he earned two more seasons as a GM before I’d start really criticizing him. We’re at that point now. I still hate the Hurts pick, I think that was nail in the coffin for me. Nothing to do with the player. But the best argument for Hurts is having a cheap #2 QB on the roster, instead of paying the likes of Dalton for $7 mil a season. I get it, but I still don’t side with that. You don’t grab a guy in 2nd round with the hope he’ll never have to see the field in 4 years.

Taylor in the third isn’t an issue to me, hard to be that upset over project players as long as they pan out eventually. Mahomes was regarded as a project player in 2017.

If you are just starting to get concerned about JJAW, then you are a little late on the draft pick evals.

I usually let the rookie season just play out and avoid making any judgements until their 2nd year. Some guys just take longer to adjust. Brandon Graham taught me that lesson.

Me either.  I'm judging the drafters and coaches.

Sure, if they taught Dobbins to accurately throw a 10 yard pass, they might be 1-1 right now. Otherwise, you're kidding yourself, man.

They should just let Hurts run routes at WR in place of JJAW

Trust me, I know. I’m not that serious that it should of been Dobbins, he’s just a player taken after Hurts that has produced already. But I do think it should of been Fulton. The Hurts pick was just a bizarre move, and I’ve tried really hard to get on the side that it was the right move but I can’t.

The Hurts move was just an over correction of the time they liked Wilson and wanted to take him in the 3rd but got beat out

The Eagles did target (with successs) the rams young lb.

According to Pro-Football-Reference, Wentz was 10-of-15 when throwing in Kiser’s area but gained only 81 yards and no touchdowns

No idea if we’d have interest, but we do have an open roster spot...

I wouldn’t call 5.4 yards per attempt successful. That’s anemic.

Liar.

I don't know.  He's wanted that big contract now for a bit.  More playing time might get him the contract he wants next year.

I don't think Eagles were ever that serious about him. Even with the visit announced, it sounded like they just wanted to kick the tires on him vs actually signing him. Barkley tearing his ACL sealed the deal on his side.

I think we were going to sign him. And I think he would have signed with us if not for the unfortunate timing of the Barkley injury screwing us.

We had a horrible looking run game week 1 without Sanders. And if he goes down again, we are stuck with that because Freeman was the last free agent you can probably rely on to start here and there.

Do you not see how Wentz is playing right now? I completely understand the Hurts pick.

Oh yeah...... I'm sure Howie had the brilliant intuition to project that his franchise QB would throw up all over himself in weeks 1 and 2, thus leading him to drafting Hurts.

Meanwhile, DJax had Ramsey beat up top.

Im not sure what Reagor lost there? Unless he was supposed to be on a corner route and the CB never let him. The spot he did go looked like a perfect clear out route for the ball that was thrown. He took the CB completely away from that side of the field.

Also, if they werent in that area of the field, I think Jackson might have a TD on a bomb there. In that area, Wentz cant really put it far out ahead of him. I think Ramsey's speed and height comes in to play to cause an incompletion if Wentz throws that ball on a short field.

It’s fine to have two 2nd round picks at RB in my opinion, but you do need to stagger their contracts by more than 1 year.
