Doug just trying to clean up his mess on essentially agreeing that Wentz is regressing.

That's more a shot at Doug than Wentz, but Doug didn't see it that way, unfortunately.

wouldn't the right response have been ''well no but you have, shouldn't you be able to complete the question instead of chucking it off to the sidelines?''

Queue the Jim Mora "you’ll never know” quote

stop crying, Wentz will play better

the comment reminds me of what ghor used to yell at afan about...lol

"you don't know football...you don't watch gametape"

Yeah if Doug was a whining TATER I’m sure he’d line up in the crying line with everyone else

But I’m sure he understands the nature of sports and humans being imperfect

Are all "off target throws" always the QB's fault? This is what irritates me about all of these "metrics" people come up with, just watching a play and seeing an "off target throw" doesn't mean automatically the QB didn't do his job right. There's 23 other guys involved on the same play every time. Maybe the WR didn't run a precise route, maybe a dlineman got a hand on the QB as he released the ball, maybe a CB forced the QB to throw it farther away from the WR then he wanted to, lots of variables can effect a simple stat.

I'm sure it's a combination of things.  I don't think they count "tipped balls" as being "off target"....not sure.  But at least 15 of the throws were with a "clean pocket" meaning he wasn't "pressured" and he had a "throwing lane".

Personally, I think he's got something bothering him...whether it's his groin or back, idk...but something just seems off with him so far this year.  🤷‍♂️

It’s (finally) a good response from Doug

people need to STFU, people have bad games, they go on slumps

Brady, Rodgers, Manning, every single one of them.  Fans need some perspective before crying for the backup for Christ’s sake

Nah. If it's something more complex, than sure. It doesn't take playing in the NFL to see a 3 yard dump off is an easy throw that he's missing. I don't mind the non answer necessarily since he's limited to what he can actually say, but he doesn't have to go the "have you ever" route.

He’s not missing 3 yard dump offs, youre exaggerating and being emotional

Lol, ok. I haven't even said anything remotely negative about Wentz in the last 3 days but im emotional. You're in denial if you think all the missed throws are intermediate to deep. Just off the top of my head the screen pass to Jackson and the check down to Sanders which was maybe 8 yards.

Oh, wait, you think footwork and mechanics don't matter. Nevermind.

Frankly, most of our team looks like they wished the season had just been cancelled.

Sure, Wentz is the QB who will get the most attention, but this stuff screams of stale coaching, schemes, etc from all sides of the ball.

Screw ups in every aspect in 2 weeks is unacceptable.

Then Doug comes out and makes the excuse that it's because they missed reps without camp? While Gardner Minchew is throwing more TDs than completions week 1?

I have way more concerns of Doug than Carson.

Wentz to JJAW. I'm throwing that ball too. Great play by the dback.

It was the right read per usual Carson was late with the throw and JJaw was clueless at the catch point and good play by the db

Doug blaming that one on Carson is doug cowering to public pressure that he needs to be tougher on Wentz.

If one looks at the screen shot on that play JJAW was the only open target

It's unfortunate cuz if Carson makes that throw on time and JJAW catches the td they take the lead and it's a totally different game

Instead rams get the pick then march down the field☹️

Yup inexcusable excuse. Every team missed reps. It's not like the eagles are the only team that dealt with a shortened off season.

Dp needs to stop with the excuses and do better.

He missed a wr screen to desesn, that's an easy throw for a sub par nfl qb let alone one that is being paid as elite.

Elite qbs make routine throws look routine and difficult throws look routine.

Wentz inconsistency is maddening and it's hitting the eagles these first two games.

Blaming that inconsistency on lack of reps doesn't cut it he's in year 5 a routine throw should be routine at this point

Yeah but have you played NFL football before?

You just said he’s missing 3 yard dump offs.  That is exaggeration

What I said about his mechanics is that the concern is being overstated since he’s had mechanical "issues” from day 1, including 2017

I’m not sure how anyone can argue that Wentz ya been inaccurate to start the year, and it’s not just uncatchable passes, it’s passes that make the intended receivers’ job far more difficult than it should be. It’s costing us completions and YAC.

There are a few issues at play — unfamiliarity with his receivers, pressure at times, Wentz’s own poor throws.

Anyone calling for him to be benched is dumb (and I don’t believe I’ve read that in here, but maybe I missed it), but he absolutely deserves a crap ton of criticism for his play.

Mechanical issues day 1 should be largely cleaned up by year 5 shouldn't they?

Now post the fumbles. Refer to the winning percentage written above. Refer to the team's number of playoff wins with him vs. without him. Wentz's uninspiring play is a multiple season issue; the INTs are a 2020 issue.

You didn’t answer the actual question.  Everyone, not just Eagles fans, sees Wentz as a top half NFL QB.  What is your suggestion, dump him and throw huge draft capital into going after another franchise QB, trade him away, eat $$ and likely sign a FA the caliber of another Sam Bradford, or work with Wentz to get better?

There is only one practical answer

From the LOS to Sanders was 3 yards. From where he actually threw it, it was less than 10. You can call the difference of 5 or so yards an exaggeration if you want but it doesn't negate the fact its an easy throw he's missing.

No but I've watched other qbs paid much less with less ability make routine passes that Wentz is missing.

Whether I played nfl football or not is beside the point. Howie roseman never played nfl football should his opinions of anything football be dismissed because of that?

If we're going to play the have you played in the nfl, card then every poster on this board opinions should be disregarded as I don't know on member on this board who is in the nfl or has been.

Get real either contribute to the conversation or stay out of the conversation.

For clarification, If we trade him after this season we don't eat dead cap money, we actually gain cap space.

You still eat dead money, you just dont eat more than his cap hit.
