In some respect Week 1 of 2019 -- but it was evident neither Jeffery nor Desean Jackson even went into the season healthy

Depends. Would you call Mills a starter? Because he was on PUP. KGH was also hurt.

So long ago I can’t remember

The most disappointing part of 2019 for me.  Not having Mills at CB should have made the Eagles healthier -- yet Darby, Jones, and Maddox played even worse than he did over there.

Yep. Fans were actually counting down the weeks and were hyped for Jalen Mills to come back

Just curious, were you this down on Wentz in 2017 when he was throwing for a team record 33 TDs and was the favorite for the league MVP until he got hurt?

The question is what has made him regress. Is it the injuries? The coaching? Did the big contract go to his head? maybe his wife is holding out on him.

Judging from the SB year it sure as hell isn't a lack of talent.

Of course I wasn't down on Wentz in 2017.  Unfortunately that was 3 years ago and its been straight downhill ever since then.

I'm done with the excuses for this guy.  His performance this year is completely unacceptable for a "franchise QB".

He's playing like the worst QB in the league.  It's absurd.

Alshon ready to up his trade value

Said it yesterday, say it again today.  Hernia.  I'm guessing he misses this week.  We get some BS info from DP all next week.  He's improving.  Misses next week, then they put him on short term IR.   Then he just stays on all year.

You need to be more pragmatic; Wentz is $24.5M in dead cap even in 2022 where Spotrac lists the 'potential out' in his contract.  Teams don't eat that kind of salary unless the player is a locker room cancer, or they are about to be charged criminally.

He's the franchise QB in all practical terms.  The Eagles need to coach better because he will continue to be the QB on the field as long as he is healthy; you can complain about him all you want but that fact doesn't change

Just because we're stuck w/him due to foolishly handing him a massive contract, that doesn't magically make him a franchise QB.  And I'll continue to complain all I want while this dude is getting paid $32M/yr to perform like a bottom 10 QB.

It's ridiculous and the only possible explanations are that he is a) not putting in the work, or b) he's just not good enough.  Either way we're going nowhere with this guy.

Disagree, but that's what discussion is for, Maddox is in no way a Safety.  He's been impressive . I'm usually not big on the little corners. Maddox is ok.

Absolutely. We all have different opinions my friend. Maddox to me is a hybrid. He can play at safety or slot depending on the match up. He's absolutely not an outside corner. No way.

Some of this is Schwartz also believes maddox can play outside effectively. However the major reason the organization has him on the outside is because jones busted. If jones was what they thought when they drafted him he’d be starting opposite of slay and I’m betting they wouldn’t have gone after NRC. Since jones didn’t pan out and Douglas wasn’t good enough, they saw an opportunity to add a veteran slot corner and move maddox to the outside where Schwartz believes he can still be effective. Frankly i think maddox moves back to slot corner next year after NRC leaves and they look to find a better outside corner in the draft. Imo they should’ve used their second and moved up to get Jaylon Johnson or a corner they liked. People kept buying into jones was going to turn the corner. Meanwhile he was made of paper mache and the coaching staff even when he made decent plays still wouldn’t start him unless it was a last resort.

I mean you're right bud and I do agree. But it's a horrible idea having Maddox on the outside. He's simply not good enough to play there and he's going to get exposed s lot this year. And I feel for the kid because to me he's being set up to fail there.

I think he’s likely being affected by his groin injury; it was abnormal for him not to escape some of those pressures against WASH.  His footwork and ball placement is suffering.

The bright side is you only have about 3 more years to complain if he doesn’t come around 😂

2020 total cash figures QBs

wentz is 3rd at 39.3 million

I love how now $32mil is a monster contract when really it was pretty damn team friendly at the time while looking at these other contracts.

Guy set NFL record last year with scrubs around him at WR, but now he's a scrub.

I have more confidence in Wentz than I do Doug.

Going for 2 when down 11 or so last week put us further behind the 8 ball and did us no favors either.

Again, who exactly has developed under Doug and Co?

No one.

So why put everything on Carson when literally no one has improved under this staff?

Mind bottling

Carson certainly needs to play better but where are these new offensive schemes these myriad of coaches were to bring in?

Seems like much of the same offensively.

I always in the back of my mind thought that Carson could pull an Andrew Luck move and retire at a young age.  Something just seems off with him.  He doesn't seem like he has that same spirit for the game like he did a few years back.  Did injuries take their toll on him and now he is just putting in his time?  Such a strange start to this season.

Who knows anymore.  I'm wondering if he might play this week now.

Looks good! Let’s get him on the field!

Does that happen for any team though?  Pretty much every team deals with injuries.

This isnt directed at you but I'm tired of hearing about injuries and dropped passes.  Every team deals with these things.

They tried to get cute with not having 1 official OC and instead have some type of committee of them
