Same year we won the super bowl. 3 years in the nfl is an eternity.

Man ain't that the truth...From Top 5 to Bottom 5 in 3 years, Eagles look like a shell of their former selves.

Jags might want to speed this up a little bit considering they are down 21 with 15 mins left

Pretty sure Foles would have completed that pass ....

Good job, Marrone

I think Miami is probably a little better than most people think. They played really well down the stretch last year and were competitive against the Patriots and Bills this year.

Yup. Out with an Achilles and groin injury

There's always his next contract.

Frankly when jones and Howard are healthy they have a good set of corners. Have some nice players on defense but they need to keep adding.  They Do have nice skill position players on offense. I think gaskin isn’t great but he’s a solid back. Their oline needs help and they could use a franchise QB hence Tua. I do really like their Head coach as well.

Why are the Eagles being cautious with a player who won't be here next year and is being horrendously overpaid?

Of course, that's fine with me.  I'd rather use Hightower.

They probably have more talent than most realize...perhaps more talent than they realize.  Losing organizations with losing culture take a lot of inertia to get going.

I saw Mack hollins... still not catching footballs.

Must have been lined up like an All Pro for you to notice him.

Even better he was on the sideline

Jags were like watching Eagles last week.

When’s the last time our defense lined up like that and got a free rusher ??

1999 ?

Wow how about this hasn’t crossed my mind but I really can’t remember any since The late Jimmy Johnson.

Yeah he did. I was being sarcastic speaking to the OP’s statement of the lack of free rushers and exotic blitzes since JJ.

As for Schwartz’s scheme I for one am tired of the same old rush 4 DL and drop everyone else in coverage. When the pressure doesn’t get there QBs get so comfortable knowing you won’t blitz much and have time to pick it apart.

Pretty good for a cooked guy

With that salary? I don't think Cox is cooked, but I don't think he is good enough to justify his salary in a trade.

Cox isn't cooked. This place is ridiculous.

Recapping the last 2 weeks

Howie needs fired

Doug needs fired

Carson needs traded

Cox and Malik are cooked

Tank for Lawrence

Trade Ertz

Even if we beat the Bengals we're done

So basically trade and fire everyone and start from scratch, sounds like a solid plan (if you're a moron)

Did I miss anything? I mean "we're from Philly and we quit should be our motto."

The Blog is a mere shadow of what it once was or even what it truly could be. Still a little better than tate but the gap is very small.

Trading everyone and firing everyone is not the answer. But firing Howie? Absolutely. Trading Ertz? That makes sense. Considering a trade for Cox? There's logic there.

Why the first two but none of the rest? I think there's some merit in some of the others but I'm not so sure Doug should be fired.

I don't understand the Carson stuff.  My contention is he is coached to what Doug wants him to be rather than what he is.  Classic mistake.  Eagles have no depth, little young talent, so either Howie can't draft or the staff doesn't develop Howie's excellent draft picks.  Trading Ertz is possible but I think keeping him, Cox, etc al is better talent than what the return would provide.  So we trade Ertz and pick a Sidney Jones?  We lose.  Trade Cox and get what?

Howie needs a demotion.  His overall ability to maneuver through the salary cap rules and his legal acumen bring value.  But he should never have been involved in the evaluation of the players of a sport of which he has never played or coached.

Doug needs to re-hire Flip, but there are various outlets speculating that Doug has no power and that either Howie or Lurie or both are involved in the coaching staff surrounding Doug.  Doug also needs to hire an OC and look at replacing Gym Shortz.

Carson may very well need a change of scenery.  I think everyone sees 2017 and his MVP season as his potential and there are plenty of teams that would cough up draft capital for their chance to coach Carson back to that form.  Again, if reports are true, Carson is not well liked by teammates and isn’t very coachable.   All we have to go by is performance.  Right now, he is playing some of the sorriest QB play we’ve seen in Philly for a while.  He is under .500 since the ACL and is 0-1 in the playoffs.  Andy Dalton 2.0 at this point.

Cox should have been traded last year.  His contract is way out of bounds compared to his production.  Cox best days as a football player are in the rear view mirror and the rest of the league knows it.  Unlikely to find a trade partner given his bloated contract.  Injuries have really added up and they are never kind to 300 pound linemen.

Do we really have the cap room to pay Ertz what he wants?  Would we want to pay Ertz that amount for no YAC?  What makes Kelce and Kittle special is what they’ve done after the catch.  Ertz has been a reliable pass catcher with great route running, but he isn’t a game breaker.

I think the Tank for Trevor talk is more sarcasm versus fans on this forum voicing a strategy.  More of an indictment on Carson than an actual strategy.  Now, I am on record as stating that I think Lawrence has potential to be a franchise QB in the NFL.  And I do believe that he will have better career than Carson Wentz.

Having given my honest opinions, I will also add that I hope Wentz gets back to 2017 form (and stops with the negative body language). I hope Cox returns to being a dominant All Pro DT, and Ertz doesn’t let his contract infect his play.  I hope we have the 32nd pick next year.  But we’ve got a trend that isn’t good for two of these three specific players with a QB getting paid franchise money but playing like the UDFA 3rd string emergency QB.
