Out of bounds, but it was covered so wasn’t gonna be a catch anyways.

I think he's talking about the one where Sanders was wide open and would have been a TD if Carson didn't miss by about 5 yards too deep... not the wheel route to Sanders on the 3rd down play before they went for the FG only to punt after the penalty.

There were 2 of them.

Sanders was wide-open on one of them. Wentz missed.
Sanders was covered on the other one because the LB saw it coming and bailed immediately. Sanders never had a chance.

Oh yeah.  Hard to remember all the disasters today.

Watching some of these other offenses work and guys throwing for 300+ yards in their sleep and then watching the Eagles offense makes them look stuck in the Stone Age. It’s incredible how hard it is for this team to put a drive together and just get a few yards at a time.

We’re running a bunch of Shanny stuff. We just stink at it.

I think the Eagles got the SB 51 influence.

The concepts are good. Wentz is getting time to plant in the pocket and survey the field. Then he'll just miss a guy.

Which screams there is a schematic problem

OK...this season is circling the toilet.

While I'd like to cut JJAW and Peters to temper my frustration, we all know that's not going to happen.  We also all know that the OL will intermittently have major problems with pass protection and that the Eagles will be suiting up a bottom 5 arsenal of offensive weapons.

What we don't know is WHY and for HOW LONG Wentz is going to look this awful.  Wentz is a franchise QB level talent.  He's played at that level.  And while we may be learning that he'll never get back there, every last thing we do in this doomed season should revolve around re-shaping Wentz into the player he once was...because what else are we going to do?

And I think the first step in that mission is a step backwards.  If you can't hit reset, you at least hit pause.  I really believe he needs a couple games off.  Mcnabb was re-energized (out of infuriation and embarrassment) after AR benched him for Kolb.  The current OL and WR situation is a set-up for pressing, bad habits, mechanical breakdowns, and failure.  It may get better in a few weeks with some personnel swaps and players returning from injury.

I'd sit Wentz for 2 weeks, clear his head.  Silence some critics after Hurts throws about 100 yards and 3 picks per game.  Bring Wentz back as the WRs are coming back, the OL has gelled, and I think that maximizes our chances of him emerging as his old self.

That’s exactly why Doug should be fired, this offense is dougs baby and its been terrible for three years now, he’s been figured out and refuses to change, he needs to go so they can try and salvage wentz’s career

Benching wentz is dumb. Its his tram and he has to lead it. its why picking a Qb was so stupid. It undermines wentz

Doug killed that one nice drive by getting cute. No idea why he ran that play

I don’t even know where to start on how bad this team is... Everything about them sucks.

Yup. It was the correct decision. The fact that Reagor immediately looked like he belonged playing a new position (X) is a great sign for his development. He played and finished a game with a broken thumb too.

I gotta say Hightower looked ok today. We're not using his best skill (downfield speed), but he's showing up. He's already better than Shelton Gibson. I can see him being a Z/backup Z for the next 3 years.

I think Hightower looks very similar to Shelton Gibson.  I say that not entirely from a negative light.

Gibson had great speed.  I liked the lottery ticket late in the draft, same round.  He was a body catcher who let that mechanical issue creep into a mental one.

Hightower clearly moves well and has been fairly tough to stick with...but he's already got a pair of ugly drops.  His catch today bounced off his chest before he trapped it with his hands.  Wentz literally banked it off his numbers and then he caught it off his own chest.

I always wanted the coaches to stick with Gibson...he really got open.  But they lost confidence with the drops and never gave him a chance to work through it.  Hightower is going to get that chance, as they have no one else.

As far as his position...depends on which path he takes.  Does he have good speed or great speed?  If it's the later, then Z is the fit.  If it's the former, he does have very good length...might want to consider slapping on some muscle and looking at him as an X with Reagor as Z.  Unless Watkins shows something, I don't see any scenario that Hightower isn't one of the 3 top WRs heading into 2021.  They just have no one else.

Benching Mcnabb got the Eagles to the NFCCG.

Have the Eagles used up-tempo much this year?

NFL Trade Deadline is after week 7 (Oct 29).

We're 0-2-1. We play SF/Pitt/Bal/NYG. I think we're realistically looking at 1-5-1/2-4-1. As long as Dallas goes around 500 in that stretch to be 3-4/4-3, there's enough runway for us to be sellers. I know that the blog is on board with this, but do we think this front office is willing to do it? Especially if we're "only 2 games out" by the trade deadline...even if we know that's just because the NFC E is bad.

We also were on the brink of moving on from him. We’re not there with Wentz.

The fans are ready to be sellers.  The fans also want Howie fired.

There are some strongly opposing forces in play there.  A GM fighting for his job isn't going to sell.  A GM with wink/nudge guarantees from the owner might sell.

Are you defining the brink of moving on as drafting a QB in round 2 or having a string of really bad games?

Jordan Mathews is the best WR drafted by this team in the last 10 years.

By the end of the year, he just might be the best WR on this team too!

Pass rush and Slay were good. McLeod solid as well.
