OK...this season is circling the toilet.

While I'd like to cut JJAW and Peters to temper my frustration, we all know that's not going to happen.  We also all know that the OL will intermittently have major problems with pass protection and that the Eagles will be suiting up a bottom 5 arsenal of offensive weapons.

What we don't know is WHY and for HOW LONG Wentz is going to look this awful.  Wentz is a franchise QB level talent.  He's played at that level.  And while we may be learning that he'll never get back there, every last thing we do in this doomed season should revolve around re-shaping Wentz into the player he once was...because what else are we going to do?

And I think the first step in that mission is a step backwards.  If you can't hit reset, you at least hit pause.  I really believe he needs a couple games off.  Mcnabb was re-energized (out of infuriation and embarrassment) after AR benched him for Kolb.  The current OL and WR situation is a set-up for pressing, bad habits, mechanical breakdowns, and failure.  It may get better in a few weeks with some personnel swaps and players returning from injury.

I'd sit Wentz for 2 weeks, clear his head.  Silence some critics after Hurts throws about 100 yards and 3 picks per game.  Bring Wentz back as the WRs are coming back, the OL has gelled, and I think that maximizes our chances of him emerging as his old self.

Agreed. But what if he just isn't a franchise QB?  What if he only reaches that talent level on occasion?  Is that someone we want to continue to roll with and pay $128 million?  This is a really really bad 3 game stretch.  Emotionally and mentally he also just seems drained, not in to it.  His energy and excitement for the game seems almost fake.  He does all of the right things when it comes to tweeting his excitement and all of that BS but I just don't sense a genuineness from him anymore.

What if Hurts just lights it up?  The game is evolving for dual threat quarterbacks to succeed.  If you watched him at Bama or OU, you could see how his teammates just gravitate towards him.  He's a natural leader, doesn't put on a front.  IMO, it seems like Wentz knows all the things he has to say and do to be a leader so he does them but it isn't him...it just seems so forced for him whereas Hurts (at least in college) lead his teams on the field and as a true leader.

Carson hasn't had to lead through tough games.  In college, he broke his wrist and his backup took over the team with great success.  Carson was in the background.  SB52, we know the story.  It's almost like he can only go so far then can ride the coat tails of others while getting the credit.

Are you defining the brink of moving on as drafting a QB in round 2 or having a string of really bad games?

No, but nice try.

I would like to see Doug give up the play calling for the 9'ers game. There is a bad vibe with the Doug-Carson interaction and the offense just seems stale. Why not try a new set of ideas at this point?

Pass rush and Slay were good. McLeod solid as well.

Slay was just wow. It looked horrible in the replay but then he came back and made plays. Very very impressive

Yeah, I think Slay is probably the best player on the team right now.

Lol that Harrison commercial is hilarious

We’re going to finish with 2-3 wins aren’t we?

In addition to costing us 3rd and 5th round picks, Slay will cost us sliding somewhere from the 3rd overall pick to something closer to #10 🤣

Costly trade.

Slay and Sanders are the best players on each side of the ball no doubt.  All they had to do was run Sanders a couple more times once they got into field goal range.

Out of bounds, but it was covered so wasn’t gonna be a catch anyways.

Depends on which one he's talking about, cause wentz badly missed on a wheel where sanders was ahead of his guy by 3 yards

Slays coverage stats will explode to Revis island levels soon too...the #2 CB and the LBs are so bad in coverage that teams will just ignore Slay in their reads.  He just won't be a part of the game.  No one will throw his way. Seriously, look for lots of games with 0-2 targets, 0-1 completed passes, 0-1 tackles.

There's no reason to look at Slay. Just get literally anyone matched up against #47 and throw the ball.

I hope so.  I am always the optimist but there are just too many injuries to too many key players for this team.  They need to be picking higher in the draft.  Trade some of the older pieces they have and go young.

This is all about Wentz battling once again through adversity to see if he can be who this team needs him to be.  Hoping that he does.  If not, then we will be drafting his replacement at the #1 pick.

Gerry was a college safety. He sure doesn’t cover like he understands coverage schemes.

We won't be at #1 this year, nor will the coaches be ready to draft a QB that high all over again.  Next year is the crossroads.  They don't really have any resources to improve upon this team for next year.  If Wentz gets himself right and they get lucky with some adjustments, maybe they turn it around.  But if he doesn't and they make mass cuts with the pending cap issue...that may be the season where they do tank for #1.

OMG.  Make it stop.

Ill actually be home to watch next week since its a night game so we should win that one.

So this is all your fault? I figured as much.

So did DeSean play today?  Dont remember seeing him.

The people who were saying a healthy Desean would be an improvement for the 2020 WR corps are awfully quiet these days.

Everyone should have known that every last thing he did this year should be considered an unexpected bonus.

That trade was horrible, he has had one good game in 19 games since he came back

I blame work for picking up a stupid contract that none of us peons would have agreed to. But, yeah what it comes down to is that I havent been home to watch any of these 1st 3 games live and the eagles clearly cant win without my support. They need me. Im kind of important.

Have the Eagles used up-tempo much this year?

Don’t remember seeing that at all this year

Every level of football I had played considered it sacrilege to play on Sundays.  I guess things have changed.

What happened to Boston Scott?  He was such a big part of the team making the playoffs last year.  Not only his rushing but using him as a receiver.  Its almost like the coaches dont know how to use these guys or something.
