WR  TE FACTORY

Former Iowa State kid. Decent size.  Perkins like. Decent hands and ran real fast for a TE at the Combine.  Was surprised that the Cardinals gave up on him so quickly.  Like this move. If he can develop, dump Rodgers when Goedert comes back.

McClain has been around that organization for a long time and is very tuned in.  If he says they aren’t signing Thomas I believe he’s been told the door is closed.

The way DAL defense has looked so far this season I’d still be a little surprised if Jerry doesn’t bring him in at a reduced rate.  If CLE beats them this Sunday that might move the needle.

Yea, I just thought it was weird they didn't even bother with the workout.

He ran fast for a tight end because he's a WR.  Hasn't played a down of tight end.  Our left tackle can't block.  They loaded up on tight ends to help JP against the Bengals.  What is there to get excited about with Butler at tight end?  If this was a practice squad move I would be all for it.  Develop him on the PS.  It's not though.  He is on the active 53, taking up a roster spot playing a position he has never played before.

We have two extra roster spots to play with every week. The 53rd player is a glorified practice squad player.

My guess is Thomas’ agent called the Texans and said something to the effect of ‘we’re on our way; we assume Earl will be getting paid as a top 10 safety, right?’ .... to which the Texans said ‘the number you have dialled has been disconnected’

I might be exaggerating here with some but you get the point.

Nathan Gerry- safety to linebacker

Davion Taylor- "athlete" to linebacker

Jordan Mailata- never played football to backup LT

Hakeen Butler- WR to tight end

Greg Ward- QB to WR

Jalen Mills- CB to Safety

Avonte Maddox- CB to safety to CB

Matt Pryor- every OL position but center

Jalen Hurts- QB to gadget player

I get it but still, I hate the way the Eagles manage their roster.  You and I are butting heads today for sure ha.  My frustration towards this team is coming out in full force today.

They will come around just give it a few more weeks, look at our schedule I see no wins except maybe skins and a Giants win

So if the Eagles went 2-13-1 as you suggest — you figure their roster is just a QB away??

The Eagles would trade out of a #1 or 2 pick and compile more picks

Losing Togiai is frustrating because Howie botched his handling of the roster juggle.

I could never find the link/tweet/whatever from 2012 to show this...and it's water so far under the bridge by now...but I recall some fairly well-informed rumblings from multiple sources in April 2012 that AR's seat was heating up, which was balanced by AR's own mounting frustration with the organization.  Howie was installed as the GM, by Lurie, as a check on AR's control as his own frustration with AR started to boil over...starting in 2010.  Under Howie's influence, the 2010 draft was looking really bad (Graham called himself a bust that offseason) and the 2011 draft already looked abysmal.  So there were rumblings of a power struggle between AR and Howie, with the 2012 draft being AR's last stand and mostly his doing.  This had been reported at the time, before 2012 retrospectively started to look like a nice draft.  AR made that grab in April...then the team tanked in 2012, so Lurie lowered the axe.

A couple reporters floated this at the time, but it's impossible to substantiate now.  Who knows if it was ever true anyway.

McLane tweeted this yesterday:

I think there's a lot of truth to the idea that AR wanted out but I am not sure the tension was with Howie directly.  I am sure that Howie pushed the narrative that Reid was the issue.  Of course, I am not sure how much say Howie had in the 2010 draft as he was reporting to Reid and Reid had final roster say.  They did draft at least one potential HOF player in 2011.

People keep saying stuff like this but it can be worse. Hard to believe, I know, but it’s possible, even probable.

Hehe, the only thing worse that 0-2-1 is 0-3

Ridiculous post. Even if those things were true, what’s your point

Being in Florida, I can only imagine what it's like from Philly through New York.

Here's something to think about to put a smile on your face.

Zach Ertz wants a new contract. He's playing against Kittle's team.  Start Zach this week 😇

He should be playing multiple positions: TE, FB, DL.

Honestly, i'd love to see him as a TE

We’ll probably see this all day vs Gerry. Shanahan probably is having a tough time hiding his erection during film study.

Graham reeks of an AR pick.  Undersized, high motor, limited overall talent.  Granted, AR and Howie seem to draft the same kind of DE.

I think some of this blows back on Lurie, Howie's buddy.  Lurie's patience with AR was starting to wear out and he placed Howie in charge of personnel in 2010 as a check on AR.  Of course you, me, and everyone else is not sure how much say Howie had in 2010.  You put competitive people with big egos in the room and give them a blurry power structure...surprise...here comes the power struggle.  First it happened between AR and Howie, then Chip and Howie.  Doug and Howie played nice for a couple years because Doug was just grateful to have a HC opportunity.  Insert a championship ego injection, force Doug to fire some assistants, and here we go again.

From that perspective, Lurie is allowing it to happen, again and again.

Pretty amazing for a rookie without a real offseason.

Just get it over with and dump JJAW.  In a desperate game situation, we all know Rodgers and/or this new kid would be getting targets at X WR over JJAW anyway.
