yeah.  but then Doug's ego would not let him really have  say in the offence.  and then the new guy would have been the scapegoat like Groh last year.  I actually am glad they did not hire a formal OC so the world can see what an overrated creator of plays Doug is. His offence basically went to shiz after Reich and DeFilippo left.

Doug didn't want to fire Groh if you remember.  I know that doesn't fit your narrative.

Didn't you hear Jim Schwartz?  He does good with quizzes in front of his teammates.

He could be the next Seth Joyner but Schwartz likes Gerry too much to let Taylor play.

FWIW, I always said the perfect duo was Doug and Frank.

But Howie and Lurie did.  Which makes me believe that they knew Groh was not pulling his weight.  So why did they not get a real OC on their own without Doug's input?  Its because they somehow believe that Doug is fine and Groh was the problem?  Which is the basis of my argument.  Doug has done squat since Reich and Flip left

I guess no more dome teams.

Don't count on it.  Far too much has been invested in domes... latest greatest stadium in LA... artificial turf in a dome.  Minneapolis, almost brand new... dome.  No way that this moves forward.  Teams could build domes like the one in AZ where the field gets rolled out to catch the sun when needed, except that still won't help Minneapolis or Detroit, due to their weather.  And those cities want domes to give them a chance at Super Bowls.  No Super Bowl would ever be played north of Tennessee ever again if domes were eliminated.   And I remember all the complaints people had during the Colts-Bears Super Bowl when it rained.  All kinds of non-football fans complained that the weather impacted the game.   Boo-freaking-hoo.   Football was made to be played in the elements, but that's just not what we are going to see moving forward.    There won't be a ban on Domes... maybe dome teams can work out a way to put grow lights on their fields to allow real grass... but that would have to be CRAZY expensive.

Some players just know what to say to endear themselves to fans.

Someone needs to start the new Sean Considine photoshop thread but replace him with Nate Gerry.  There have to be at least 50-60 images out there from the last 3 weeks of his arms flailing around, avoiding contact, getting crushed, or diving at someone's ankles.

@In2football

Eagles usually compete in games they have no business winning. Wentz comes out relaxed and focused and Eagles actually get a turnover

Doug never looked at Groh as a scapegoat if he wanted to bring him back.  Additionally, I am not sure how you can say "Doug's ego" is keeping an OC from having a role in the offense when Doug has consistently had an OC.  Doug has credited Taylor and others with their ability to draw up plays.  I think what he likes is play calling and even there he defers to the QB.  They apparently give Wentz broad discretion to change the play at the LOS.  I don't think Doug is blameless but I don't think his issue is his ego.  His fault lies in the failure to be a better play caller, having the team ready to execute and making things easier on Carson.  I don't think this has to do with his ego but his loyalty to others.

His offense hasn't been as dominant but it's not been the bottom of the League.  I tend to think more of the blame lies in the lack of talent at WR.

I was joking. I don't think domes are going anywhere.   I wonder if it is feasible to grow grass inside.

Agree on the loyalty part but there is def angle of ego imo.  He believes his offence is good enough without a bonafide OC.  The franchise QB has regressed and his mechanics are way off under his watch and he does not acknowledge that.  You can call it loyalty to the wrong people but I think his ego def plays a part...  ofcourse he deserves only a part of the blame.  Look at the players that have been served up to him by the wonderboy GM.

Why can't this be the eagles Green Bay moment? Last year, no one gave the eagles a chance against Green Bay and they went in and won. Doug has a few more tricks. The DL is getting healthy.

So out of 52 players, 13 are on the injury report with another 11 on IR/PUP.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run

There’s still time to change the road you’re on

Because Carson Wentz wasn't ranked like the 39th QB in the NFL last season.

I didn't like getting him because of his age but damn he's really easy to like. I thought we lost him on that injury. So happy we have him but also feel like we're wasting him with this defense

Have to be on the highway to get there:

If this team had good weapons, a stable and wise braintrust on offense, an unquestioned franchise qb, a GM who didn't blow a 2nd round pick on Hurts, and still had the ambition of being a "qb factory," I'd have an eye on acquiring Sam Darnold.

He's still only 23, was the consensus best QB prospect in 2018 to anyone outside of Cleveland, and could be picked up for pennies on the dollar after the Jets bring in a new coach/gm to select and groom Lawrence.  He's 100x the passing talent that Hurts is and you could probably get him for a lot less than the 2nd round pick Hurts cost.
