Hightower, Deontay Burnett, and JJAW were always projected to play. Yes, the panic was ridiculous.

The answer to number 1 isn't obvious at all. 2 major injuries since then and significantly worse play.

Isn't that enough reason for panic right there?

How do people feel about our D against Mullens? Will we finally get some turnovers this week? Could we see another handful of sacks?

I feel like this game will be a defensive struggle. I'm mildly optimistic.

1.  Yes, but that will require better coaching

2.  Yes, Brett Favre says hello

Brett Favre is not the blueprint for success in 2020.

Haha that's a different conversation from the injury one

But if people are defending him then it is obvious, no?

In fact I don't even see 1 wide receiver there. This will be an uglier game than the normal ugly from this year.

I don't think it even matters who plays QB for the 49ers. Our LB's are going to get gashed

Bruh...

First down is where an offense should call its most aggressive plays — not just deep balls but intermediate crossing routes, etc.  The percentage is lower but if you miss you still have second and third down to convert.  The defense also plays most aggressively on third and long, so on first down you’re less likely to have to account for blitzes, etc.

For the Eagles, just get me 5 damn yards on 1st.

There's no way that's a 10 year old. No way.

Yeah, that definitely came to mind.

My football league was separated by weight up until junior high school Things must have changed over the years.

It's funny the criticism of Doug....guys are open, we've seen it in the All 22. It's seemingly glossed over by some in here, maybe because they don't like the way he handles himself in press conferences. Wentz has been THE issue so far this year, not the play designs. I really hope Carson can fix it and get through the yips, but it's not a guarantee. But Doug is not really the problem as far as playcalling, IMO. Yes, he could probably stick with running more to take some pressure off Carson. But at the same time, Scott/Clement kind of suck. Scott is good as a 3rd back, but they really could use a Blount-type back to really hammer away at defenses. I think that's the biggest missing piece of this offense.

I disagree.  Looking at a film clip and saying someone is open doesn't mean that the right play was called or the protections was good or that the QB's progression was good. Wentz has missed throws and not looked accurate. He has played poorly.  Doug calling plays that give Wentz gimme type throws has not been good either.

That was a nice tackle at the end of the run.  Should have had that kid covering him.

Except the Eagles......

Can you clarify this? Do you mean Doug has called gimme type throws but Wentz has missed, or that Doug needs to call more of these types of plays?

Maybe the Eagles should look at bringing that kid in...

The "one healthy WR" panic was an absolute joke.

One starter would be a better way to phrase it.  After watching the all 22, I would say that Greg Ward was the best WR on the field. DJax wasn’t getting open. Hightower was next and as best as I could tell he was running good routes.

We know that Quez is in his three week practice window, week one.   I haven’t seen anything about whether he is rehabbing on the sideline or practicing with the team.  Eagles have a roster spot open.

Watkins is practicing with the team. There was a clip of him doing WR drills I saw yesterday.

Boom! It's all coming together. Niners D watch out.

Watching CNBC to keep an eye on the market.  They were talking about the recent Covid issue and mentioned that the president of Notre Dame was at the Supreme Court nomination event last Saturday and tested positive.  I recall seeing the article about 25 ND players testing positive about a week ago and another dozen or so players quarantined.  Always dislike ND football (discussions very early in the Blog with NDIrish) and now it might be a source to look at for this issue from last night.

The CDC cautioned that testing might not show a positive until a few days later.  Seems we saw some of that with the Titans this week.  Glad to see the NFL expanded daily testing.

Also saw that the ref’s union complained about Jon Harbaugh having his mask down when shouting from inches away about a call.  Bet that gets a fine.  NFLPA is investigating the Titans outbreak.
