If you needed a morning pick me up....

"Passed on...Houshmandzadeh to take Freddie Mitchell" is such a ridiculous thing to say. Housh was a 7th rounder for F sake.

"Left...Jamison Crowder on the board to take Nelly," lol what?

Anyway, it is fair to wonder if JJAW will even make it through the season. I'd love to see him play with a QB he has chemistry with, but it's become clear that he probably won't with Wentz. Considering he's not on STs and basically every other WR on the roster minus Quez has outperformed him, it's not a lock they keep him. And then I wonder, would it really be that hard to get JJAW on the PS?

So, back to JAGs and PS guys for a WR corps, a MASH unit OL, Wentz in a rut and mundane scheme and play calling on O and that's just one side of the ball.  Anyone want to try and set the over/under on Kittle's night (receptions, yards, TDs)?  This team is in total dysfunction right now and until they start making strides to changing and getting better I just can't see going out to SF and coming away with a W.  Even with SF having key injuries as well.  They are still the better team here.

We played out best last season with JAGs and PS guys. Though Gerry doesn't qualify as either

LeBlanc has done his job better than any non-Slay DB on the team...and frankly...that fact stands going back the last 2 years.  He has minimal slot responsibilities and always gets the job done.  Schwartz is always loathe to use him though.

It's like Gym Shorts doesn't rate and reward playing time to his players based on the quality of their play, but who his favourites are regardless of how they perform so even when a player/s is playing like ish we keep seeing them out there for the majority of the snaps while the player/s who is more in form gets less snaps.  Another reason I'm fine with allowing his contract to expire and move on to a new DC.

Most of his picks are valid but i can't count a player who's career was cut by injury as a drafting blunder

Yup Chris T jones could've been pretty good but he got hurt 3rd year career over.

Wouldn't call that a blunder.

Thought Chris T was gonna be a star

I'm excited to watch Mailata tonight. He's actually younger than Dillard, and if he can just be average tonight, the Eagles might actually have something here.

Of all the Howie doom and gloom, the Hargrave signing isn't being talked about all that much. Check-in on all his replacement is doing.

Hargrave has been truly bad so far.  Jackson has been playing over him.  Of course, there is the injury excuse.

As of now, however, we gave $40m to a thus far rotational DT.

I didn't even know Tyson Alualu was in the league anymore.

It will be interesting to see how Mailata does for sure.  To be honest, I'd be happy if he just didn't get Wentz killed even with help from the TEs/RBs.

Hmm, maybe there is something to coaching and scheme

Yes.  Very interesting.   My hope is escalated.

No he isn’t solid. He’s been bad. Especially this year. It’s not just the fact pff has him at a 45 grade. He’s legitimately regressed every single year since his rookie year. And he misses weeks every single year. Even pff has noticed. He’s gone form 63 to 58 to 45 and teams are specifically targeting him knowing slay is good and he’s not. That’s a erroneous statement to say he’s solid. He wasn’t good last year either. Before sendejo knocked him out he had given up the most yards, receptions and tds to slot receivers in the league through 4 games. When he returned he wasn’t much better. He still finished bottom half of the league in term of slot corners.

the biggest myth is that maddox has been good or solid the last two years.

Funny thing is this place used to not like pff

We DID give $40 million to a rotational DT.  They already had their starters in Cox and Jackson.  They didn't need Hargrave.  They didn't need NRC.  Two totally unnecessary signings when you had huge needs at CB#2, WR, LB, RB2-4 and nickel safety.

I'd rather grow with Mailata making mistakes while improving and learning the game then continue down a deteriorating JP path watching a HOF LT get worse and worse every game while providing nothing for the future.  Even if Mailata is average, you stick with him and continue to let him develop.

I think we've established that the Eagles don't really have any clue what they do and do not need.

No actually Hargrave was supposed to be the starter. Jackson had a career threatening for injury at his age, coming off a season in which he got benched in Jacksonville, you just couldn't count on him for this season.

One more thing about Hargrave.  Did he show up terribly out of shape?  Look at him as a Steeler vs Eagle.

Hard to tell from those pics.

Hargrave had an injury that preceded him from having an offseason to travail to a new team, and entirely new defense and position.

He is really good,  and will have a good eagles career. Crazy to expect much out of him in  of him in his first few games. People need to settle down.

He wasn't on Thursday.

He's been getting worked in more and more....do we see the first pass of his career from Hurts tonight?

I hope we see about 24 of them.

I guess he just is a pot belly kind of guy.  A lot of images he seemed slimmer.  I hope he's a good Eagle, I really do.  I just look at needs on the team vs. where money was spent.  Keep in mind, one of the Eagles strengths for some reason is being able to find plug and play DT be it as UDFA, practice squads or off the streets.  Ty McGill has played very well.  I would be just as happy with Cox, Jackson, McGill and Ridgeway.

I thought Anthony Rush was fine.  Bruce Hector held his own in limited playing time.  They always seem to do OK in that department.  I understand the injury to Jackson but he showed no signs of having his career threatened.  Hargrave was a total luxury signing when there are so many holes on the team.

Javon Hargrave wants to return to Steelers, seems resigned to fact he probably won't | TribLIVE.com
