Doesn't matter what LB position Gerry plays as it seems he's just incapable of diagnosing a play.  Singleton did what Gerry has failed to do.

Hopefully he will get more playing time going forward. He appears to at least not be a total liability on the field. He's not Trotter or anything but should still be an improvement.

It’s just frustrating becaus Doug is a actually a good coach and Wentz is more than capable to get the job done so just imagine if Howie actually did his job and gave them both something to work with

A box turtle is an improvement over Gerry.

But, yeah, hopefully Singleton shows to be a more heady player at LB and at least won't be a liability.

So, any word on when we will get Will Parks back?  Although Epps has been playing well.

Also, if my math is correct, we should be able to get Curry and Craig James back this week.  Then Seumalo next week after Pit, and the rest on IR (Goedert, Reagor, Trevor Williams, Peters) week 7.

Well I'll also take good coaching as a win - not only good player performance👍

Hey nice to see you around man.  And in London now?  I swear everytime I'd see you post, I picture you speaking with the same accent as Sharlto Copley from from District 9.

He's going to have a ton row to hoe next week.  The Steelers' coaches will have this week to focus on the Eagles mix match of OL, and they will likely find some exotic fronts to throw at them.   And so... Stout will have to really earn his paycheck this week coaching those guys up AND getting them ready for an odd man front, which they haven't faced yet this year, at least IIRC.

I would worry about Pryor and Herbig much more than I would about Mailata, who has never struggled against 3-4 defenses in the preseason.

Is this team good? No.

Did they play hard? Yes.

So that's a +++ for Pederson and a - for Roseman for me. Wentz didn't play well, but he was willing to take shots to will the team to victory.

I disagree. Wentz played a great game with what he has to work with.

Gonna see a top notch pass rush next week that for sure.

Reminds me of the GB thursday night game last year where everyone writes us off and Doug just goes up there and kicks their a$$ and leaves. The year before he did it to Mcvay in LA.

Stunts too, pulling a bit.  But he didn't let Carson get killed.  A 3-4 next week so great experience and education for him.  I suspect he'll just get better and better

That’s all I wanted to see, even if it was against backups.

It’s the o-line as a whole. You’re seeing a guy like Kelce make mental errors and be sloppy at times because the guys next to him aren’t the same and aren’t as talented.

I know it's tough to evaluate live but did anybody focus on Mailata for any extended period of time? How did he look?

He was pretty much the only guy I watched (people in here who were active in the draft discussion know I was driving the bandwagon before he was even drafted).

I thought he did really well.  I was impressed with how he dealt with stunts, specifically taking the DT from the OG. Granted, that's in real time and without breaking down tape or anything like that, but he seemed to "get it" mentally and technically. Run blocking, he's just a gigantic human being who is somehow more athletic than guys almost a hundred pounds lighter than he is, and the potential really shows. He needs to work on keeping his chest over his knees instead of lunging into blocks, but the movement and agility is just scary for someone with his size.

I really can't wait to see what he looks like in 6 games, assuming he gets to continue as a starter. There is just so much to like and nothing that coaching and experience can't potentially fix. Yeah, he blew it on a 3rd down sneak.  Yeah, there were times when you could see he was a bit frantic dealing with the outside speed rush. But, he never looked lost.  He never looked overwhelmed. And there were lots of little things you could look at and say, "he's been working on that in practice for a few years and it's translating from a concept in drills to a playing technique on the field."

There is absolutely no reason anyone else should take another snap at LT this season if he continues to play like this.  The only way this kid is going to improve is with playing time.  That's going to come with some mistakes.  We should accept these mistakes as part of the learning process, because the guy is so incredibly talented from a physical perspective that if his football mind and technique gets anywhere close to his athleticism, he's going to be one of the best linemen in the NFL.

He pissed me off this year, but he managed to win with almost the entire starting offence out with injuries. Good job Doug. (this time)

Was over a friend's house sitting at the kitchen table and sharing beers for the 1st half so didn't get to see any of the action.  Caught most of the 3rd QTR and all the 4th when I got home.  I tried to watch Mailata when the Eagles were on O.  I had browsed this thread and saw he had a bad penalty.  Other than that didn't hear much about his play, which for OL is usually a good thing.  From what I observed he seemed to do OK.  Even on one stunt by SF it seemed he picked up his man, but the interior allowed for the sack.  Ever since they drafted him and I watched the video on him from entering the NFL International program to the Eagles drafting him, I've wanted to see him make it in the NFL.  It's his first start, so not going to say he's made it yet, but it seems like he acquitted himself well enough tonight.  Still pulling for this kid (you know, this 6'8" 330lb kid) to turn into a dependable steady LT for us.  We've been spoiled by Tra Thomas, Runyan and JP over the years so I don't expect him to be at their level having never played until a few years ago, but would be cool if he ended up as a reliable OT who hardly ever gets his named called during a game.

If Stout can turn this group of second and third stringers at almost literally every position into a cohesive and competent unit, he should win NFL coach of the year. And that's not hyperbole.

I think we saw today why he hasn't been "more creative." Killins jet sweeps didn't work, Hurts wild cat didn't work, and with the OL in such shambles he can't really count on getting much time for trick plays and misdirection to develop.

Me too, it would be a great thing if he turns into something.

I don't want to get too far over my skis on this, but I kind of expect him to not just be something, but something good. To play how he did with just 20 live snaps of football in his entire life is downright remarkable.

I wonder if Dallas fans enjoyed tonight's game?

Agreed, but he played not to lose on that 3rd down play call.  One throw for 10 yards against a defense showing 9 on the LOS — complete it and win the game.  The Niners one remaining timeout wasn’t that important when weighed against one completion to win the game.  Hated that play call.

Surely there is no circumstance where JJAW is active on game day anymore
