Just keep getting better and healthier, slowly but surely

If Mailata doesn't have that drive-killing false start or Kelce doesnt throw a 90mph slider to Wentz, the Eagles probably take control of tht game even earlier

There are a lot of positives to take from that game

Indeed.  Unforced errors like that need to stop.  Same for the botched snap to Hurts - which was 'off line' to Hurts.  He needs to catch that ball though... That play didn't end up hurting them, fortunately, as the Eagles managed to convert on 2nd and 22, only to get put back into 2nd and 18 by that play... and got a TD on that drive.

But, the Mailata penalty and the Kelce bad snap were essentially turnovers.  The only redeeming piece to them was that they were turnovers that still allowed for a field flipping change of position, like getting picked off on a 40+ yard bomb.

So far this season

Honestly, the only time I noticed it was when those two babies complained about the masks.

They need a thicker mask for Collinsworthless so that he can't be heard at all. That said not sure why there just isn't a plexiglass wall separating them

Yea, that's what I noticed.  There were some stunts that he continued to follow his man rather than let the LG take him and switch off, blitzes off the edge where he didn't kick out but as far as his skillset and handling NFL talent I have no question.  Experience is just going to make him better.  Unless the Steelers 3-4 ruins him, Mailata should be the LT the rest of the year.  Last night was about as good as you could have asked for a guy playing his first real football game ever.  Props to Mailata and Stoutland for finally getting one of his guys to develop.

With that being said.  It's time for Jamon Brown at RG.  Pryor should be catching the next bus out of town while JJAW and Gerry carry his bags.  He got abused.

Few things I noticed.

-Mills is better at safety but didn't get killed.  Classic finger wag after a pass was 10 yards away then beat on the next play.

-Marcus Epps is not an NFL safety, Wallace has a long way to go.

-Play calling and personnel usage of offense are still terrible.  I have no idea why people think Duce will make a good HC...how many years is it we scream about his rotation and the hot/lead back being out of the game?

-Ertz, take notice of 85 in red...that's how you play tight end and get paid top dollar.

-Our DE are stepping up big time.  If Barnett, Avery and Sweat continue that takes a huge need off the priority list next year (still need a DE but might not be bleeding like we thought)

-Malik is the best DT by far.  How many times during the game did I hear, you don't hear much from Fletcher Cox anymore...a lot.

-The Eagles need explosive talent in the worst way.  Aiyuk is insane.  Deebo showed flashes.  Kittle is next level.

-Again, 3rd and longs are just killing this team.  Back to play calling.  And on top of it, 3rd and long RB swing pass...that's the best we can do?

-Fulgham>JJAW

-When Jim Schwartz's contract expires please don't renew it.

-Just having average linebacker play would boost this defense.  Really jealous watching the 49ers linebackers play.

-Rudy Ford, while good at ST gets hurt too often.

-For all that talk about Killins speed, he showed me nothing.

-Hakeem Butler...please turn in to a diamond in the rough and get rid of Dick Rod.

-Finally, this is still not a good team.  Let's not be fooled.  Nick Mullins played toe to toe with Carson Wentz all night.  The lack of explosive, elite talent is evident.  Howie is good at finding scrubs and that's it.  The last thing I want is this team to win 7-8 games in a terrible NFC East.

I'd like to review the All 22 before making judgements on Fletch. There was one specific play where San Fran was starting from their own 15 yard line or so, maybe even further back. They called what looked like a stretch run to the right. Cox just zoomed past the guard with ease, and then blew up the fullback lead blocker, forcing the RB to go back inside, right into I think Malik. It doesn't show up on the stat sheet, and yeah he's being paid more than he ought to be at this point, but the man still makes plays.

The much hated Steelers 35 - My beloved birds 21

Interesting from Peter King's column re: the Titans outbreak

What to do about Tennessee? It’s no sure thing the Titans will be able to mobilize forces and open their practice facility and get in the requisite work to play their Week 5 home game against Buffalo on Sunday at noon CT. With fullback Khari Blasingame becoming the ninth Titans player to test positive over six days, the work by the NFL and NFLPA to investigate the Titans outbreak becomes increasingly important. How did things blow up there so badly, and how soon will COVID subside there? "It’s the Marlins all over,” said one informed league source Sunday night. League and union officials are investigating whether—as Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Sunday—players or club employees violated rules on wearing tracking devices or reporting symptoms of COVID. No rules exist on what the discipline would be for violation leading to outbreaks. Could the Titans, if forced to miss one or two games, simply play a shorter season than other teams and have their playoff status determined by winning percentage versus full-season teams? Could they be made to forfeit a game or games if found to have been negligent? Unknown and undecided.

We won 25-20. Go back to bed.

Like I said last night, thank goodness Bosa and Ford were out and he got to play JAGs in his first start. That was significant

Watt and Dupree are up next.

I'd expect Mailata to have more trouble with speed rushers. He showed last night he can stonewall the bull rushes.

In true Eagles fans fashion after Mailata gives up his first sack there will be a certain crowd here yelling to cut him.

Of course as bad as this division is, who knows.

Queen isn’t really playing well either, and they already have invested a ton in their LBs. Maybe the LSU DE would have made sense, but Lamb is good. Really good. I’m not going to take a shot at Dallas for picking a guy who looks like a future star in round 1.

That's fair, but Jerry is always looking for the shiny object.  Their defense is a freaking sieve.   Its a good thing for the Eagles, so I'm glad of it, but it was a poor use of resources.  Not quite the level of a Round 2 backup QB for gadget plays that don't work, but still... not a good use of resources.

As for what they've invested in the LB position, I'm not sure I see it.   They spent a 1st on VanderEsch, who can't stay healthy (2018) and took a flyer on Jaylon Smith in the 2nd in 2016.  Outside of them, what have they invested in the LB position over the last 5 years?  Sean Lee years and years ago, who is a great player, but can't stay healthy.  LVE is a really good to great player, who can't stay healthy.  Smith is a medical marvel, and is likely to have a fairly short career given his injury history.

Trade out Queen for Harrison if you prefer.  Or get more DL help with Chaisson.   They picked a really good player, and it hasn't helped them at all.  If not for (once again) gross incompetence on the part of the Atlanta Falcons, the Cowboys are sitting at 0-4, and a pretty terrible 0-4 at that.

That's what they are doing at Fox, I believe, and I thought I saw that at a few college games as well.

2020- 🤔🧐

Some positives from last night.

Jordan mailata looks like he can play a bit and Driscoll looked ok coming in for Lane. If they can keep Improving OT won't be a need in the offseason

Wentz looked better last night. Not a lot to work with but he held up well.

D-line played well. If Avery and Sweat continue to develop that position looks a little better going forward.

I'll take the win and hope we get a few pieces back for the Steelers game

I'm going Eagles 27 Steelers 20

Truer words were never spoken

Reuben Frank's outright hostility to Nate Gerry in his column 😆

8. Enough with Nate Gerry. His strength was supposed to be coverage, but he’s been terrible in coverage this year, awful trying to tackle and lame against the run. Let’s get the Shaun Bradley Era started. The rookie 5th-round pick from Temple might not be ready, but he can’t be worse. While we’re at it, give Davion Taylor a few more weeks and get him in there for Duke Riley. Bradley, Taylor and Singleton at linebacker, anybody?

I also think we should consider shutting Lane down until the bye to let his ankle heal

Driscoll looked ok coming in off the bench

its the guards that suck

there may be a new opinion of these OL after next week's game. The Steelers front 7 is the real test.

There wasn't too many in here, but there were some questioning if Stoutland was a good coach. They can all eat sheet now.

He's completely right. Singleton and/or Bradley should be in there. But, as I have said before, the coach loves him some Whitesnake, so nothing will change.

I said it yesterday, and I'll repeat it again today.  It was a stupid move by Dallas to draft Ceedee Lamb, not because he's not good or not able to help them, but he was a major luxury pick.  They just resigned Cooper, they still have a young WR in Michael Gallup.  They didn't need another WR (although, maybe the plan is to not resign Gallup when his contract is up, though that won't happen until after the 2021 season)  But... their defense is desperately in need of help.  Had they drafted a guy like Patrick Queen, they'd have been much better off in the short term, and the long term, I believe.

Or even Damon Arnette - The reality is that they look very soft on defense and look unwilling to tackle.

I found the Fulgham PS signing completely unexciting. Another slow WR. And then he caught a TD last night. And then I got to thinking WHAT IF we hit on a move. What if his unathleticness can still be like a Golladay or Gallup? Just saying...

As someone who defended the Genard Avery trade, I feel pretty good this morning. Avery might have been our best pass-rusher. 5 QB hits is a lot for someone not playing all the snaps.

He is, but I'm surprised someone in the media verbalised it in such a manner.  Usually they are more prosaic about it

Of course as bad as this division is, who knows.

Our worse case is we win the div with 6,7, or 8 wins in a really bad div again. Then we get another year of the fans who don't understand football saying "Well we made the playoffs 4 years in a row with Doug so no changes need to be made, its just injuries"

If our div winner is a sub .500 team the NFL will change the playoff rules next year to go by record not div winners. A few years back the Saints won the div at 8-8 and caused a uproar cause 10 win teams were not making the playoffs cause of the current rule. They reviewed it then but didnt pass the change. But if you get a sub .500 team getting in, there is a problem and will open up eyes for a change.
