OK that's Edwards, Ford, DJack, Parks all with severe hamstring injuries.  Again, the strength and training team they have must be doing something wrong.  The soft tissue injuries this team suffers year in and year out are just unreal.

Definitely more than just mere coincidence or bad luck at this point.

True.  But spend a lot of time as the inline TE last night, helping the OTs.

Also had a -6 on a poor choice by Wentz.

I get your points and they are valid but it's night and day watching Kittle and Ertz on the same field.

Looking good. But Fred Warner is a legit pro. He’s much smaller,  took on the big man and still made the tackle. When can we get linebackers like that...

We were healthy in 2017? Wentz, Peters, Hicks, Sproles just to name a few. We were far from Healthy.

Yes.  But is was just one player per position.

Not a deluge at OL and WR.  Or CB in 2018.  Or DT and WR in 2019.

By that do you mean healthy players?

Sarcasm aside, I'm sure you'd agree we overcame some pretty major injuries that year.

Wentz, Peters, Sproles, Hicks

I mean, it was a touchdown and all.  Great throw by Wentz but Fulgham nearly dropped the ball.  It's just pretty bad when we are excited about this play when all over the league guys are making circus catches, guys on Saturdays make one handers look routine.  Fulgham had nearly let the ball drop through his arms.

Not trying to be negative at all, just showing us the sad state this team is in talent wise.

Certainly no Brandon Aiyuk or Jefferson, each of whom we easily could of had. More players we will have to painfully watch knowing we could of had them.

Even at his very best, Ertz was never the same type of player Kittle is. Ertz is a cerebral TE, who can find the open space in a defense and make tough catches. Excellent route runner. Kittle is just a tough SOB, and likely a far better player than Ertz ever was. But they aren't really comparable IMO, as their styles are just so different.

Yawn. How many times do we need to re-hash who we could have had? We could have had Tom Brady many moons ago, why not **** about that too?

I think they need to figure out what Mailata really is...and the balance of this season will help with that.

If he's got a real shot to be a superhuman franchise LT, then Dillard is acceptable collateral damage.  If he's a big athletic monster who might still be a little too big for a perfect pass protecting LT and might fit well at RT. then I'd try to let Dillard take this job back and would think about RT for Mailata.

Or maybe Mailata is just a backup, another Vaitai.

I don't want to actively get rid of possibly the best RT in franchise history.  But we do, collectively, freak out about injuries.  And Lane Johnson is, officially, someone for whom it will never be a surprise to see him out of the lineup.

It's a wait and see proposition for sure.

Shame. They had a really good run game with him.

They had a really good run game without him too yesterday.

If Mailata was so great in the ground game and they still have expectations for Dillard, it might be time to think of a future for Mailata at RT.  If you want to fly off the rails and say woe is us about injuries every year, then you might want to re-evaluate our future relationship with a certain over 30 RT who hasn't played 16 games since 2015 and is one of the highest paid OL in the NFL.  I'm sure that thought will be well received by you guys 😅

Next year is a big year for Lane.  Even with a bad ankle, he was still better than Driscoll.  I think it's a fair question and even if Mailata plays above average the rest of the season, OT is still a big need.

Wentz, Peters, Sproles, Hicks

As I stated before, a cluster of injuries in one or more position groups is more impactful than a handful of key players sprinkled around the roster.

We won in 2017 because our QB2 was amazing and our OL6/LB3 were adequate.  We didn't have to go very deep into the depth chart.  AND...the rest of the roster was firing on all cylinders.

Now we are playing OL7-10, WR 4-7, and TE3 on offense.  That is the underneath of the depth chart.

And yet Wentz is somehow better with these "underneath" guys. What's the deal?

I think trust to be honest. Perhaps he's a guy who trusts someone until you give him reason not to. And so with the guys he's not really played a lot with me trusts them to some extent.

Yeah i was wondering when someone was going to ask him about that. No offense i don’t want clement or Scott in the game at crunch time. Clement is average 2.7 yards per carry on the year and Scott isn’t much better at 3.3. Even last night sanders wasn’t great with a 3.5 yards per carry and still had a higher yards per carry than both of them for the season. Add on sanders is your best weapon (imo) use him in those types of moments

They put in their big back and their hard to see back which makes sense.  Bigger back, Clement, on first down to try to push the pile, smaller but well balanced quick hitter hoping for a squirt play.  Both failed as it played to the strength of the 49ers D last night.  A quick slant to Ward on first down would have been a better call.

Reagor has looked good.  I would like to see the Eagles use Reagor like SF and CLE have used their WRs in the running game.

But Sanders is better at both than either and he had only carried the ball 13 times at that point.

He was best when he had a consistent deep threat and he was able to have open deep targets.

Ertz out there with 4 receptions for 9 yards is really not making the case for an extension.

That bastage is ON MY TEAM !

Starting LT Peters was a pretty big loss in 2017, far more so than Dillard, would you agree?

Starting QB Wentz likewise a huge loss, far more so than Brooks, agreed?

Starting LB Hicks, a big loss as well, more than Seumaulo? I'd say so.

Situational RB Sproles hurt too, though not as much as Goeddert.

We've lost Reagor too, which is big, and potentially Desean. So advantage to 2020 there as well.

I get what you're saying in that a single position grouping getting decimated is much more difficult to compensate for schematically, but I'd argue the overall effect to the team was more detrimental in 2017 than it is now. Of course the season is still young, and seemingly every week we're still stacking bodies ten high like firewood, so my opinion on that might change.

If we win THIS week, am I allowed to say Doug's an alright guy?

Jus' sayin'
