I think crediting that dime to Fulgham to designed rollouts is peak confirmation bias.

I think he felt in rhythm.  He doesn't get in rhythm standing on the same spot in the pocket throw after throw.  We'll disagree, but he is not a great pocket passer and to ask him to run an offense in that manner does not play to his strength.  He's what, a career 60% pocket passer?  The evidence is clear.

What grade do you get for just standing there and doing nothing, because that's basically what Gerry did for most of the game.

Did you see Gerry on that forward shovel pass that SF almost scored on?  Man, that was horrid — such a simple tackle, and he didn’t even get a finger on the guy.

Curious timing. I wonder if they are trying to poach someone.

Or maybe they think someone is coming back off IR

Quez Watkins?

That didn't bother me. It reminded me of the Eagles drive after the Julio Jones incompletion on fourth down in the playoffs. The Eagles still needed to get a first down to ice the game, otherwise they'd have been forced to punt the ball to the Falcons and allow them a couple of Hail Mary attempts. And it was Clement that they gave the ball to and it was he who got them the first down after a Falcons penalty gifted them five yards. You can trust Clement with the ball. He was the guy who flipped it back to Foles on the flea flicker to Smith against the Vikings. And it was Clement who took the snap on the Philly Special.

Ball security is pretty f'n important at that moment.

My issue with the play calling on their final possession was running into a stacked line with 2:01 on the clock. A throw is much more likely to gain positive yardage. And the clock stops either way.

^This. That 3rd down call was atrocious too.

My guess.

I have no idea what that play was.

If you're gonna pull something dumb like that, just take a knee. The chance of that play gaining yards is nullified by the chance of a holding penalty stopping the clock and giving the other team more time.

A holding penalty gives you the down back to kill more clock.

I almost felt like the third down call was for him to take a sack unless he had someone wide open.

Not if it's declined.

Lets see what Watt has for him next week before we get too far ahead of ourselves

I thought Watt plays LDE/opposite the RT?

Anyway, I fully expect Jordan to have some growing pains along the way, but the fact that the kid didn’t know how to put on pads 3 years ago, had never played a full game at any level this time yesterday, and he more than held his own is incredibly encouraging.

Sure, he’ll probably have some bad moments this season. That’s to be expected. But the good so far outweighs the bad that it just doesn’t matter to me. Play him and he will have exponential improvement IMO.

My assumption is Wentz was given one guy running a route and, if no defender covers him, throw the ball — otherwise eat it.  The easy call IMO was a slant against single coverage — either Ward, Ertz, or even the same throw he made earlier to Hightower.

Making the opposition use their timeouts and punting the ball back to them used to be the conventional wisdom 20+ years ago.  It’s a very dangerous strategy in 2020

The clock stoppage absolutely hurts us. It wouldn't have forced them to burn their last timeout.

I mean imagine if the team had Hicks instead of him.

That too, but the only one with an activated practice window is Watkins. You would think they wait till he's absolutely ready to play to make that move.

I'm very much here for more Watkins snaps over Burnett/Rodgers. Rodgers is just not good enough to deserve so many snaps.

Hmmm....  I suppose so.

I think they probably figured he would be after a week of practice And seeing him last week. Curious to see if desean is healthy enough to play next week. I’m guessing not.

Maybe we'll get to see Huntley.

Shows how bad defenses have been this year.

It's kind of a weird rule, and it rarely comes into play, but I've seen it burn teams twice in recent memory.

Sample size might be an issue too. We've faced 3 QBs who, combined, have 5 years of NFL experience between them, and the only one we faced who was seasoned torched us for 37 pts.

Steelers and ravens are going to be pretty telling about where exactly they are as a unit
