There is no lay ups in the NFL.

In 2019 Russell Wilson had a clear path to a rushing TD, no one in front of him against us and instead while running he tried to throw a 5 to 7 yard pass to a wide open rec in the right corner and over threw him. They had to settle for a FG due to that play. That has to be the play that would be most considered a lay up and the best QB in the NFL missed it.

No one said that Wilson or Mahomes or Rodgers don’t miss layups it easy passes.

I was there like every home game so I remember it well., I remember Julio slipped right in front of me. Im just glad he slipped cause he had position on Mills one on one.

He would have came down out of bound either way

Doug should incorporate more tries and scrums to take advantage of Mailata’s rugby background. Why isn’t he putting him in the best position to succeed?!?!?!

Mailaita really has the height to be a beast on line outs, what gives doug 😡

I think Ertz will be fine.  Teams are focusing on Ertz now because he's the most dangerous offensive receiver the Eagles have (as of now).  Once Jackson, Reagor, Jeffery and Goedert return, teams will be forced to focus on them, among other things and we should see Ertz' numbers improve.

Yes he will be, but I'm starting to slip into the "he's not that much better than Goedirt camp".

Wallace had really good coverage on one of the completions. Kittle was just in the zone. I thought it was a solid debut for him. He was just unlucky that he was up against one of the best players in the NFL.

If Mialata does progress enough to be a starter if we don't run at least one trick play with him catching a t.d. pass I will be very disappointed in Doug.

Point is there is no such thing as a lay up. People who call them lay ups are sitting in a chair and never threw a football during a higher level game(college and up) Hell most of them couldnt do it playing a pick up game with their kids. Lay up is a term in madden when ur hitting a button.

I remember Macho Harris, maybe his first game against Tony Gonzalez, and Harris looked awesome.

And then somehow that was pretty much it for his career.  He stunk.

You're missing the concept of relativity.

Quick, we need a definition of "layup".

I want him to run the option, rugby style.

Yes, but what about functional layups?

This is a cop out. NFL QBs obviously aren’t perfect, but of course there are easy passes that QBs miss. Wentz misses too many and a lot of times his passes are too inaccurate and kills YAC.

I don’t care if you guys hate the term layup, but I’m not going to type out "That is a pass a good NFL QB should make a vast majority of the time.”

Lol. I definitely hold myself to the same standard that I do NFL QBs. I would have hit Sanders in stride on that wheel route against Cincy for a walk in TD.

LOL I got it now Relativity. Makes sense now :)

When you have a need for wide receiver and DK Effing Metcalf is still on the board waiting to be picked.  That’s the definition of a lay up.

It's not a given that since he played rugby he can catch a forward pass.

All rugby passes go backwards not forward, and as a forward in rugby the majority of any passes he was getting were a most likely no more than a yard from him.

His skill set in rugby as a forward lends more to either OL or DL just because he occasionally ran with the rugby ball against a bunch of scrubs doesn't mean that skill will translate to the nfl.

In rugby one can't stick ones helmet Into a knee to tackle or take out a dudes ankles it's a low tackle penalty, and no helmets,no rule against cutting Mailata down In nfl.

Keep in mind also that Mailata wasn't playing top rugby he was on the equivalent of a triple A baseball team for rugby.

I have no desire to see Mailata ever touch the football unless it's a fumble recovery and while him catching a tackle eligible would be cool I can't imagine his rugby background of catching backwards passes is going to give him any advantage over any other OL that's played football their whole life.

Gotta save these thumbs for all my Schwartz defending and Wentz hating posts.

Edit: And Madden, apparently.
