Guy had like 5 snaps so farย ๐Ÿ™„

Yeah....anyone who's being critical of Hurts' performance is just being obstinate based on their pre-draft opinions. The guy hasn't even thrown a single pass in an Eagles uniform yet. And every time he's carried the ball, he's actually been pretty good.

I guess he's not playing that one game afterall?

Thank you, sir!

Didn't even have to say your name the other 4 times!

I think you're right about the 1st 2 weeks and PAT's skewing my perception.

ย

My curiosity got the better of me, so I took a closer look at the numbers.

Week 1: 49 of 67 (73.1%) from average of 38.3 yards. Really poor.

Week 2: 56 of 61 (91.8%) from average of 38.4 yards. Excellent.

Week 3: 56 of 63 (88.9%) from average of 38.5 yards. Very good.

Week 4: 55 of 62 (88.7%) from average of 37.9 yards. Very good.

So it was really just a brutal first week that makes people think it's been a bad year. Because overall it's been pretty good (without looking at PATs).

Heโ€™s actually averaging 5.2 YPC lol. If anything heโ€™s done what they have asked of him. Only thing is how far along is he with the playbook. Heโ€™s clearly not ready to start but to say he "blowsโ€ is just sour grapes.ย

That game was this past weekend.

Ah, that would make sense. I thought it was later in the year for some reason.

Let's be honest.ย  Singleton isn't any good either.ย  He was the recipient of a horrible pass.ย  None of the Eagles linebackers are good.

Singleton is likely trash as well but a pick 6 on SNF against shanahan makes you good in my book ! Letโ€™s be honest, bradham is the better linebacker but gets both hands on that pick andย still drops itย

And if you eliminate that 3rd down draw on 3rd and infinity where he picked up 'not enough'?ย ย

Pretty sure Gardner wasn't on the field for that play, but it was Levon Kirkland at MLB that was chasing Jurevious.ย  ย  I do know that it was Kirkland who was at MLB then.

It was gardner on the play, kirkland was on that team not sure he was in on that play.

Gardner and then joe pulled away from a gimpy blaine bishop๐Ÿ˜

I really don't like these moves.ย  I understand them, especially this season... but I don't like it.

Add him to the list... it goes back decades.

Yup barry gardner was also a 2nd rounder๐Ÿ˜’

JJs first defensive pick. Reid got McNabb JJ got gardner๐Ÿ˜’

Technically modrak got them for them but I'm going to guess Reid and JJ had input on picks.

Sad to say that JJ's reluctance to put Michael Lewis in that game likely cost them a Super Bowl appearance, if not a parade.

That guy has some really intriguing college tape. ย Strong,ย accurate arm, runs really well โ€” itโ€™s just hard to evaluate a college QB playing at a small school, especially with only one season under his belt. ย He looks like a man among boys, though, which is what you look for when viewing small school prospects.

Have to believe he might go top half of the first round, depending how well he interviews and analyzes pro defenses and offenses on the whiteboard pre-draft. ย Iโ€™d prefer the Giants and Washington draft someone else.

Yup. Yup blaine wanted to play even though he was hurt JJ should of told him no.

I don't think Singleton and Edwards are the answer at linebacker, unless the question is, "which two linebackers on the current Eagles' roster should be playing in front of Gerry and Riley."

We drafted Taylor to be a starter at linebacker, and hopefully next year he will be. We will also have to draft a linebacker pretty early next year unless Bradley comes along. But until then, we should probably play our best two guys, which are Singleton and Edwardsย (once he is healthy.) After this year I would be fine with them as the third and fourth LB/special teamers, but right now they both have the potential to be significant upgrades over the guys we are starting.

Taylor will be nothing more than a special teams and nickel package linebacker.ย  He'll be lucky to be what Duke Riley was last year.ย  Total waste of a 3rd round pick.

Why eliminate it? It actually happened.ย

Reason #1: In baseball, why do stolen bases not count when the defense doesn't even cover the base, or hold the runner on?ย  It's calledย "Defensive indifference", because the other team didn't care.ย  On that play, they knew what was coming and didn't care if he got 14 yards, because he needed 30+.ย  They played way back, let him run, and rallied to make the tackle way short of the sticks, forcing a punt.ย  ย Him running the ball on that play, played into the defense's hands.ย  That's what they wanted him to do.ย ย

378190015_ScreenShot2020-10-06at6_57_25PM.png.6a7c03326993a5cc1f806afe8d978651.png

So, after that awesome 14 yard run... it was 4th and 20.ย  Hardly a highlight.ย  He didn't even get HALF of what was needed.

ย

Reason #2: Statistics.ย  When you have only 5 carries, one major outlier skews it.ย  Rather than talking "meanย average", let's talk "median" or "mode"?ย ย

5 carries for 26 yards... 14 long... on 3rd and 2 time zones...
So, the other 4 carries are for 12 yards... only 3 ypc.ย  And 2 fumbles on 5 or 6 touches.ย ย

ย

436242135_ScreenShot2020-10-06at6_58_53PM.png.d30991ec1435126ecae49acfa6b1b0ac.png

Do you want to call this a loss of 8 yards as a run, rather than as a sack, which is how it was recorded?ย  That would also dramatically drop that ypc mean average.

ย

A business has 10 employees.ย  The highest paid employee gets $1,000,000 a year.ย  The other 9 get between $35,000 and $50,000.ย  ย That makes the 'average' salary (mean) $145k a year (assuming all 9 are at the top of that range making $50k).ย  What are the odds that a newly hired employee will ever see even $100k annual salary?ย  ย Is it slim or none?ย  ย

ย

So, that's why that 5.2 ypc average is hollow.ย  Take away the run that the defense gave him that ended not in a first down, but in a punt (aka, a win for the defense) and that drops dramatically to 3.0 ypc.ย  ย On the flip side, if he was running for first downs, converting 3rd and 2 with a 3 ypc average, I'd feel very different.ย  Point is... the experiment isn't really working...ย yet.ย  ย Maybe it will pay off, but so far, I don''t really see it yet.ย  Ball security issues, low average per touch.ย  ย I don't see the allure.

So what you are saying is he is our next years first round pick for the factory. They will really get Wentz this time. Not only a higher pick than Hurts but his college successor!ย

I've made it pretty clear I want Howie gone

Can't put DK on Howie though. They took a chance on an injured player(Jones)ย and it was only a knee injury and that failed. DK had a neck injury. That's completely understandable to not go for it

That's not defending the JJAW though because that was a bad pick

Amazing how the average distance is almost a constant from week to week.
