I had Adderley as the pick there too, with Metcalf as BPA.  But I really thought Adderley was who we were going to draft.

I actually wanted us to draft Juan thornhill. He’s was a really good cover safety and I thought he would be the perfect replacement from McLeod at the end of last year. Add on he would’ve been useful as a third safety on this team last year. I wasn’t as upset about Metcalf I was more upset you neglected the safety position for years to the point of where Jenkins was at the end of his contract and really the end of his career and McLeod was aging in at the end of his contract and you have nothing in the pipeline. That’s because every time we had a chance to draft a safety relatively high we keep avoid doing that. I like Wallace I thought that was a good pick. However if we had thornhill and Wallace our safety position for the next 7 to 8 years is set. Instead we went with another plodding slow receiver when we were already a slow plodding team

Which makes that pick for Arthega that much more of a head scratcher.  There were so many quality players available at multiple positions of need.

Sweet See and The Waitress are both attractive but also kind of weird looking, Taylor Swift is another hot but weird looking chick

Weirness can also be beauty. Beauty outside the norms is the best kind.

Heck at that point I was OK with them trading back and getting more picks because there was a bunch of really good prospects on the board. Frankly I think JJAW went about 15-25 picks From where he should’ve gone. I still believe the Eagles wanted to take Melcole Hardman and Andy and the Chiefs beat them to the punch. And at that point the Eagles didn’t want to miss out if there was a wide receiver run. So they got it down to two guys they liked and just went with JJAW.

Ahhh man. We lost Eddie .

Side note. I'm not against the IGNORE button. I had one for Meathead 20 years before a Mac was even a thing. @Robreiner

Some of us have been on the planet long enough to have not only "listened" to this song.

We lived it.

That's my favorite VH song.

Oh and for folks that say "Uh he was a Jerk"

Met Eddie.  Only can tell you about my interaction with him. Nicest guy on Earth.  #IRL

Did anyone notice the Mills block in the back on Singletons pick 6?

It's nice to have a non call go our way for a change.

Seems to be the theme of 90% of their picks these days.

Everything is fine.

Must be nice having Adam thielen play with him. the guy teams are game planning to take away in the passing game and so he gets to face no. 2 corners. (Thielen playing way more on the outside then in year’s past since diggs is gone). I like jefferson and expected him to hit the ground running out of all receivers besides jeudy and lamb. However it makes a huge difference teams are geared toward shutting down cook and thielen. Meanwhile here ertz Who’s been not good this year and sanders who was hurt when reagor was out there week one so only one game. I’d take thielen and cook over anything the eagles could put out there. Thielen alongside reagor would be a wet dream.

Right.   Keep in mind Jordan Matthews looked like a rock star too during his first two seasons in the league.

And out of curiosity, why do you think Jordan Matthews regressed to the point of no longer having a job in the NFL?

Who the heck is Jordan Matthews?

Ding Dong

So you're saying the Eagles have a chance to not miss the playoffs and end the season on a win...

I wouldn't have put money on that one a week ago.

Jordan Matthews is an outstanding case study.

His knee injury destroyed what little athleticism he had.

That said, Justin Jefferson is not Jordan Matthews.

I don’t know how you can ask teams to play if they can’t get into their facility to practice. Such a mess. They could’ve done multiple bubbles.

Did he never come back 100% from an injury?  Because he really did look good during his first couple of seasons.

Ok that’s what I was wondering.  Thank you.

Matthews was never much of an athlete.  His testing numbers, for his size, were above average but not spectacular.  On the field, in college, it was pretty apparent he had average-at-best movement talent and separation ability.

He had a good frame, used it well, did the little things right, and had inconsistent, but serviceable hands.

The Eagles, despite what we say about Chip, had an offensive system that the NFL was still adjusting against...and pretty serviceable QB play.  In 2014, Maclin had his career year and Matthews enjoyed little attention.  In 2015-2016, Matthews became all that we had.  He averaged a dismal 11.0 yards per catch (Greg Ward's 8.0 says hello) but was all we had and was fed targets.  But he was completely non-explosive and didn't make any plays on his own.

Once the Eagles decided to move on, there was a huge debate amongst Eagles fans...many said he'd shine once used properly and was not miscast as a #1.  People used to call him a high end #2 here.

Once he was no longer a rookie with upside, other teams saw his complete lack of explosion and basically said "why bother?"  They'd sooner coach up their own faster mid-round picks into their system.

But, prior to Reagor, he just became the typical Eagles WR draft pick.  Slow, deliberate, plug & play NCAA "safe & productive", possession types who don't separate.  Immediately after drafting JJAW, I compared him to a less athletic Matthews 2.0.  Turns out that was an optimistic assessment.  Physically, he's a bit less talented than Matthews, although comparable, but he's mentally transitioned to the league in the way Agholor did.

Still the all time SEC leader in receiving yards i believe.

And that's why we drafted him.

Not many guys who back for year 4 after 3 productive years, so that record may stand for a while.

To me the most impressive thing about this stat is he did it at Vanderbilt with a Wyoming transfer QB

Seems to me with all these new positive Covid tests and games that are likely to get delayed, the only logical thing to do is just shut this season down and declare the team that most recently won in the state of California as the Super Bowl Champion.
