It woulnt surprise me one bit that Doug and company didnt know what they had with Mailata and he's actually an All pro stashed on the practice squad/bench cause they cant recognize talent.

You’re suggesting Stoutland can’t recognize talent? He’s the one who worked out Mailata and said he wanted him. He’s also one of the best OL coaches in the NFL.

I know you get crap for the Steelers stuff, but it really feels like you don’t really follow the team that closely.

Amidst all the Mailata hype, I keep thinking about him at RT.  If Dillard can be salvaged, then Dillard/Mailata future bookends might be pretty good.

Lane Johnson's health and availability are starting to deteriorate.  It's easy to talk about trading guys like Desean, Malik, Ertz, and even Cox/Brooks for juicy picks.  And that's why they won't be traded; no one is giving up high picks for them and their contracts.  You aren't getting something for nothing.  If you actually want to get a really good draft pick and clear cap $$$ off the books, then you need to rip off a band-aid.  This offseason, after Lane comes back and plays at a high level, Lane might be a good nominee to be that band-aid to rip off.

I think if Mailata looks the part of a starting LT they should move on from Dillard before the 2021 draft.  Then they target a RT in the draft in 2021 and 22 to replace Lane.  Dillard has shown he is not flexible enough to switch and why move Mailata when he has shown competency at one position.  This also give the team the luxury to see if Driscoll develops into a starter.

Wow it's one game and we all know if he god forbid "gives up a SACK , not that One Sack " they're going to flip right over.... Can we at least wait until after the Ravens game?

Don't get me wrong. I'm in the Mailata camp. Have been since before the season.  Just asking for patience.

Question, who do you think gets final say of starters and the 53 man roster? Scoutland or Doug?

Scoutland is amazing at his job, molding and getting Olinemen to grow. But Scoutland knows EXACTLY what he's looking at. Doug Does not. In my opinion. Doug has final say in my opinion.

I bet Doug lets Stout make that call.

I'm with ya. I loved the pick too and knew it was gonna be a project.

All CEOs have the final call but the smart ones listen to the experts under them.

I think there's probably a reason that Mailata was behind Dillard and Peters.  He is learning the position.  The camp reports about Mailata were dim.  I mean they had the practice where he was routinely getting beat by Ostman and Sweat.  It's not like the reporters that were reporting on him had some pro-Dillard agenda.  I think they have been aware of his potential. Certainly they think he's better than Driscoll or Pryor for the position.

Doug probably does have "final"  say but it seems Doug relies heavily on his assistant coaches.

Duce decides the RB rotation, Schwartz is the HC of the defense, etc. Obviously Doug can overrule them at any point, but I bet that’s pretty rare.

Had the same thought.

I dont know anyone on the inside to ask that, but the way Doug handles the questions on the 53, and how he answers questions in general sounds like he'd rather die on his own hill then let someone else be right

That’s not the impression I get at all from Doug.

I remember when Reich/Defilip were here, two things happened...

once a game I went, Whoa... I never see that before, or that was cool

and 3-4 times a game we got a huge chunk play where the defense was absolutely lost.

Since they left I think, combined ive said those thing 7 times

I dont think I've said that one time since they left.

I look around the NFL and see guys wide open for big plays all the time.  With the Eagles.....not so much.

I think you are right, that he really doesn't follow the team. Everyone knows that Doug doesn't have a ego and takes input from everyone.

Has anyone  seen  how Herbig and Pryor played?

Pryor wasn't very good.

Driscoll has looked pretty good to me at RT. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lane's replacement may already be on the squad.

You dont listen to his press conference lol

It doesn't occur to you that maybe it's confirmation bias on your part?

I mean almost no one else gets the read/feel from Doug. The front office, reporters, other coaches  and even players mention collaboration.

There is a really strong chance you are wrong here. Maybe just accept that.

Any injured players coming back this Sunday?  Not sure why I ask; I think I already know the answer

I'm a "Howie guy" but man did they miss the boat on this kid...

Yeah, last thing you do in Texas is mess with JJ Watt...

Great attitude, Carson.

Seems like they missed the ocean.

Good job, Dolphins...at least some folks have their heads screwed on straight...

I can't even imagine what 65,000 people sitting inches from each other could do if there are a handful of infected people at games.
