Well, I think the Dillard pick was about value vs a plan to take a T.  I do think the Eagles were unsure about Mailata and so far he has started one game.  I think it is too soon to crown him the new savior.  I don't think his development makes OT that much less of a need next offseason.

The good thing is we’ll get a lot more concrete information over the next few weeks and possibly months. Fingers crossed.

Time to trade Peters to the Cowboys for a 1st round pick.

Mailata at least has the ability to get better, where we already know what Peters is at this point in his career. If Peters does get healthy, move him back to guard. I'm probably more comfortable with Driscoll playing RT than sliding Peters over there now.

I don't think they can bring him back until 3 or 4 weeks right? Honestly a little worried they will put Peters back in

I'm numb about it. The injuries plus the drama. Damn shame what happened

I wouldn’t have taken him off pup. At this point he might return a week earlier than he wouldve on pup and frankly I’m doubting he plays next week vs. the ravens. I can’t see them putting him out there in his first live action against that team with limited practices.

I think there's not much Anything his size.

My point I've been trying to make for a while.  Such bad roster management.

Yup. I believe caplan stated based off what he was told he would not play til around week 6. They should’ve PUP him and used the roster spot. Instead they basically wasted a roster spot for 5 and potentially even 6 weeks on a guy who had little to no chance at returning sooner than week 5 or 6

About time they started having injuries. I feel like they’ve had 1 or 2 every year mainly lee and LVE (Frederick the one year with his health concerns)but relatively healthy where guys miss a game or two. Meanwhile we have like 13-16 guys on IR

Unfortunately for them Dak cannot win unless all of his probowlers and all pros are healthy

I think if he wasn't an OT you would put him at DE.

If the Jets don't play will anyone notice?

They might win if they don't play

I remember a time not long ago in the blog that people wanted to jettison him because he clearly wasn't developing.

I don’t recall it that way.  What I heard was it was time for him to put up or move on if he wasn’t developing.  Well, he is putting up.  The realism is that a lot of players only have a few years experience at their position when they get to the pros.  Greg Ward had a little experience at WR as a freshman and a sophomore at UH.  It was time for him to show he was a WR after three camps last year.  Lane Johnson had two years as an OT at Oklahoma (before that he played QB and TE). Trey Bruton, QB.   Gerry and Singleton, both college Ss.  It is also why Taylor being green is overplayed.    Even experienced WRs come into the league with incomplete and even nonexistent route trees.  Boundary or zone CBs abound.  Now that doesn’t mean the Eagles should be drafting players with the expectation they won’t perform until the third year, it means if they don’t perform in the third year, they probably won’t ever get there. BTW, next camp will be Dillard’s third.

I would have just kept him on PUP but its not like Howie really cares about roster spots. Every year we burn it on one or two guys with extended injuries. Just two weeks ago they carried Reagor on the active roster just because they had no plan for his spot. Right now there's two open spots that will probably just end up being PS guys, maybe Watkins if we are lucky.

Peyton was probably the most known to return after neck surgery but I don’t recall a OT doing it.

Mike Pouncey was returning from neck surgery before he busted his hip

Eagles have a spot open on the roster.  I imagine it goes to Watkins, Parks or James, whoever is healthier and they think offers the best cushion.  Note that they are out of protections for Burnett and elevations without waivers for both Arnold and Burnett.  If McLeod is good to go, my guess is Watkins gets elevated.

His body type is built for OT.  How many DT's or even DE's are 6'8"? I mean that's why he was placed at the position.

Ed "too tall" Jones. 6'9" for you "utes".

Not to make excuses but I've wondered if it is cap related. I believe they are already $70mm over the cap for next year, and with the uncertainty of the cap next year wonder if they are just pinching every penny right now and not filling roster spots.

Howie wouldn't recognize value in round 1 if it were surgically attached to his eyelids.  They wanted a tackle.  The Eagles draft for need in the early rounds, unless it's Jalen Hurts.

They have two open spots

I guess the Eagles don't even really care about maintaining a 53 man roster this year.  They just completely needlessly have Jeffery on the 53 man roster, 2 open spots now, and JJAW...who simply serves as a hurdle that their practice squad WRs leapfrog over when they need to supply WRs.  We literally have a 49 man roster right now.

That's not counting Reagor, who spent an extra week on the roster before hitting IR, or Desean, who will probably play as many snaps as a player who hit IR in the first month of the season, yet will probably spend the entire season sucking up a roster spot (just like last year).

Let's see how many guys who cannot or will not play under any circumstances we can cram onto the 53 while still bringing practice squad players up and down every week.

I think it is.  Let's see what Mailata's got.  Besides, if he can't go, we all know the Steelers are gonna sign Ostman off our practice squad to replace Watt and he'll "Winston Justice" Mailata for at least 6 sacks.

This isn't pre-season and Carson's not wearing red.
