Hope everyone is well!!  Making my way to Colorado currently...just incase any of you were wondering my dog confirmed the Great Salt Lake is indeed salty and doesn't taste good.

Neither here nor there, but I was curious how Vaitai is doing in Detroit. Apparently he’s been starting at RG. While he has struggled as a pass blocker (three sacks allowed), he’s been pretty good in the run game.

It looks like they lost their starting RG, so they moved him there and put Tyrell Crosby at RT.

Ertz's production is not as high as the previous seasons.  Partly he has been a target for the opposing teams.  When the other WRs are unproven and Dallas sidelined, he is an obvious target for the defense to focus on.  His past reception high mark also draws the defense to target him.  When the other offensive weapons playing at their levels, Ertz would make plays.

And that is the difference between him and kittle. SF has no one else to throw to yet Kittle routinely eats. I like ertz but he isn't worth a huge contract

I thought we lost to you guys in Philly last year but it said we lost at home. It was our only home loss. Ouch.

Can they call up more than 2 PS guys?  This seems like such a freaking waste.  They are already going in to the game with only 48 players if you count DJack and Alshon along with these 3 spots.

Then he fills a roster spot.  The minutiae level of this analysis is moronic.

It's just so easy as a fan to look at Mel's highest rated guy, without interviewing or having medical records for the prospect, and say the team should've drafted him. I'll never kill the team for avoiding those "falling 1st rounders." For every DK Metcalf, there's a Derrius Guice; for every Everson Griffen, there's a Bruce Campbell.

Having medical records and interviewing prospects certainly haven’t helped the Eagles, being the first to reach for Jones and then taking Metcalf off the board.  Those medical records worked out great there.

If you are ever there in the summer, take a swim.  You cannot sink in that lake. The salinity creates such buoyancy it is unreal. Then shower really quickly because it will dry out your skin.  We did this as youths with a big water container feeding a portable shower we carried with us camping with my folks.

Add JJAW and Jeffery and we basically have a 48 man roster.

Pretty expensive contract for a RG not named Brooks.

Didn’t effect Kittle.  Maybe Ertz isn’t as good as he thinks.

Yes they can call up to two PS guys every week, although McGill, Arnold and Burnett are out of waiver free moves and the two PS count against the active 47 or 48.  (Only get 48 if 8 OL are active so, considering that the Eagles usually only activated 7 OL, the 48th player is pretty much an OL for the Eagles.). There have to be a minimum of five inactive players on game day and there are usually injured scratches so, Alshon and DJax really aren’t changing that much.

Those two spots are being held for players they are expecting from IR.  Watkins is very likely and probably James soon.  Fulgham is holding Reagor or Vinny’s spot.   My guess is the worst of Brown or Opeta goes to the PS soon too.

Toth is here as a back up T as Lane’s ankle is forcing our second back up into the line up.  Eagles liked Toth coming out of the Army as he was in TC with the Eagles in 2019.  The belief was that the Eagles planned to PS Toth when he was claimed by the Cards.   Means Wanogho isn’t ready or healthy yet for that role.  I don’t expect Toth to be here long. I still feel like the waiver claims are tryouts for him and Brown. Butler too.  If he cannot show good hands and route running, he goes when Goedert is ready to return, or sooner.  Eagles have been cycling through TEs on the PS.

According to Caplan, the Eagles were "pissed” the Cardinals claimed him. They know he’s a long term project that needs to develop.

But he is two camps and active roster time since last summer so at this point he should be a bit less of a project. Perhaps his spot is dependent on Peters stay on the IR.

Eagles have 11 players on returnable IR.  Three of which have been designated to return, a DE (who was replaced by a G), a CB, who was replaced by a CB, who in turn was replaced by a C/G and a receiver, who ultimately was replaced by a WR.  Eagles have C, a C/G designated as a C, three Gs, a G/T, three T and a T on reserve coming to roster.  Ten OL.  I suspect that is at least one too many.  Plus they have a starting G on IR that can return, a G/T/relic that can return, a starting LT, who Is done for the year and a starting RG on season ending PUP.  As they need spots for IR players returning, including possibly their starting LG and relic, I think those come from the OL.  Most likely, Brown or Opeta, unless one beats out Pryor at RG. When Lane gets healthy, possibly Toth goes.

Part of the choice lies with the determination on the relic and Seumalo.  I have heard nothing about Seumalo other than he would miss a number of games.  The suggestion was a minimum of six weeks, basically in November. Given that, barring the unforeseen, Dillard, Seumalo and Brooks will all be on the roster next year, so the moves may well be determined by 1) who they think will survive waivers to get to the PS this year, short term and 2) who they see as having the potential to be back ups who can potentially play when needed, long term

If I was Juriga (waived once already but we know they like), Opeta (waived twice already, two years at PS level and rescued once to the active roster), Brown (waiver claim with six years in the league but three teams since the team that drafted him quit him - kind of a flop but has played), Toth (waived once, a project who spent two years away from football and Pryor (starting but really struggling), I wouldn’t feel my position is safe, short term or long term.

I was watching something, I don't remember what it was, but they were talking about different teams around the league. Dallas came up and they more or less said "How do you expect Dak to have a good year when he has both tackles missing? It's not fair to him"

And I had to pause, because completely ignoring the previous few years, we are missing:

4 starting lineman, plus Lane who's in and out of the lineup.

All of our starting WRs

Our back up TE

While being in first place (albeit in a terrible, TERRIBLE division).

I don't think it's unfair to criticize Wentz for his play, but I really don't want to hear about how much better Dak is. He had a loaded roster last year and lost the division to Wentz and a bunch of nobody's. He has an absolutely STACKED offense this year and can only score when they're down 27 in the fourth and the other team is asleep. I don't care that he throws for 500 yards in garbage time. Go look at what he does when the game is tied or close. He blows.

Wentz hasn't been great this seaaon, but stop saying Dak is light-years better. He's not. He would never make it on this team

Sounds like Kaye was right since we activated two players off IR and signed Arnold to the 53.

I re-watched the 49ers game yesterday and this morning. Just casual viewing. Wasn't really trying to evaluate anything. One thing stood out to me that feels like it's worth a comment.

On the play in the fourth quarter where Hurts got the ball and was apparently going to throw it back to Wentz across the field...Wentz was moving upfield and Mailata was peeling back for a block, so it was obviously designed that way...wasn't Wentz actually an ineligible receiver? He had taken the snap from center rather than shotgun. A quarterback is only an eligible receiver on plays where takes a shotgun snap. Or if he's not lined up under center, as in the Philly Special. But if you take the direct snap, you can't catch a pass.

So how is that the Eagles designed a play that would have been penalized if it had worked? HTF can that happen? At least Hurts turned it in a somewhat positive gain.
