Really it’s this. If we found a good eventual 3/4 wr in Fulgham today, so be it. Lost season boys but I’m not going to freak out about it. The question of this season is do we want to limp into playoffs or take the top ten pick and strength of schedule next season. I’m torn tbh

I agree. I don't know I have it in me to outright root for them to lose, but my head knows in the long run, it's probably for the best.

I saw Mailata getting shoved around on a few plays. Considering the opponent I think he did ok and probably better than Peters would have. I’ll be interested in what the tape watchers have to say.

Only Avery play I saw was an encroachment penalty

I was watching him a lot today just to see how he handled things.  Dupree used a bull rush a lot and got under him.  That's something they can easily fix.  Not surprised by that at all considering it's his 2nd football game ever....think about that...his 2nd football game ever.

He sits back and catches the d-end and relies on pure strength rather than technique right now.  Once he learns how to do things right he is going to be good.  He's already an average starting LT if you ask me.  Yes, he is getting tight end help but the Steelers are stacked up front.  They would have helped JP.  He's faced a 4-3 and a 3-4 and handled both.

I'm excited about his future.

Gerry sucks and no matter what he did on the play he was toast. There was about a 1 in 20 chance Gerry defends him well.

I refuse to blame a bad player in an impossible position. That was Schwartz's doing.

He deserves to be fired for that call.

Yeah that’s how I feel. There’s no reason for gerry to be covering a wide receiver on that play. Gerry sucks but the fact that we compound the fact that he sucks by having him cover a wide receiver is ridiculous

On another thing to complain about...Fulgham went out of bounds on that one catch and they didn't stop the clock

Lane needs to sit at least until the bye.

He should have had the surgery in the summer or something. Waiting until August was just negligent

Where was Avery today?  How can a guy go from 1 sack and 5 hurries to next to nothing.  Can they not figure out what his role is?

Happens all the time. Fans get too much hype on a player after 1 good game thinking they are stars in the making. Travis could have zero cths in the next 6 games. Its about consistency first before getting too much hype on a guy. This happens more by Philly fans then most other teams. Im sure some saw Hurts throw a bullet pass for a nice first down and now think he is the next Vick off one throw.

I agree that it's bad. I'm just trying to clarify that it's not like the idea was to have Gerry 1 on 1 with Claypool. Their OC did a good job. They caught us in the wrong coverage. The defense needs to adust pre-snap there.

If Giants win are Eagles still in 1st at 1-3-1? Lol

Other than getting absolutely smoked by Bud Dupree on the last, desperation drive when the Steelers knew the Eagles were going to pass I think Mailata played as well as expected. Let's also remember that outside of Kelce the rest of the line were backups too.  I'm very encouraged that he not only can be the LT this year but he should be have the upper hand going in to next year.  It's only 2 games but he's a player.

This season is far from over given the NFC East but I'm all about development now.  Mailata, Fulgham (wow), Reagor, Wallace, Driscoll, Herbig, Bradley heck throw Taylor out there.  Let's see these young guys play.

Honestly we could do both, develop AND compete in this trash division.  Best of both worlds, I could care less about 10-15 draft picks considering our young players can get experience fighting for the playoffs

Im 100% on board with embracing the youth and just cleaning house of overpaid vetd

Did you read what I wrote I said besides the defensive line? So clearly you’re not reading what I wrote. Go read the second sentence from the bottom in the first paragraph. States it right there. So if you’re going to respond to stuff read the entire thing don’t half read

"This defense is not good. The personbel they have besides the defensive line which was not as good as game wore on"

I guess.  Anyway, this loss is on Schwartz...and I'm a "Schwartz guy" but your #1 duty as a coach is to put your players in a position to succeed and Schwartz failed his players today...plain and simple.

I hate saying this but I rather have the top 10 picks. This team needs talent. Blue-chip talent. Not just adding young players in there, they need young guys that are difference makers. And with how we pick I don’t wanna be picking late in the first round at least in the top 10 you’re going to get someone who has a higher chance of panning out to be a type of player like that

Avery disappeared because he wasn't matched up against maybe the worst RT in the NFL today.

Yup. If he got beaten by Ebron you live with it. Claypool went Megatron and Devante Parker on us and on the biggest play of the game we put a terrible LB on him.

That’s as bad as it gets.

He looks pretty awesome, and that was even before this week.

The Steelers just know how to draft them.

and most importantly develop them. No one knew he had the athleticism he showed at the combine. Somehow, he looks better in the NFL than he did in college. Even against a CB like Slay.

Obviously he didn’t draw it up like that, but once it’s there everyone knew where the ball was going. You can’t have that.

Once he learns to properly use his long arms on DEs to keep them from getting inside him and 'catching' them then he's going to be really tough to beat.  He also needs to learn to not let them get back inside once he steers them wide of the pocket.  Like you said, it's only his 2nd ever football game and he's looked decent to solid for the most part.  As long as he keeps improving, which with reps he should, then with his size and athleticism he could be a special player.

Yeah I can’t hate on that opinion. It’s certainly valid. The other thing is with this god awful division a half of game COULD mean winning the division at something like 6-9-1 or 7-8-1 which could also mean a 20 place swing in the draft

4th and 20 play action

It really is incredible. He looked slow and unathletic in college. Now he looks like Julio Jones. It’s weird.

Shame on people for thinking that third day  rookies were going to come in and just hit the ground running meanwhile we were in a pandemic off season where they basically had nothing until training camp. I talked about this before the season started When people were boosting about Watkins and Hightower.  If you’re expecting third day pics as rookies with basically no off-season to just waltz in here and play like starting wide receivers you are going to be in trouble. It really was peoples expectations about late round picks as rookies just been good from day one. That’s a mistake

I thought it was ridiculous how everyone seemed to be doing backflips for Howie’s day three of the draft. It’s DAY THREE of the draft lol such a joke and I hope Jeff makes some move in the personnel dept at the end of the year. If not it will just be more of the same

And there it says it right there. The defense is not that good. The personnel they have besides a defensive line which was not as good as the game went on. Go look the defensive line was not as dominant in the second half as they were in the first half. they were not pressuring big Ben nearly as much or often as much as they were in the first half that’s just a fact

I don’t disagree schwartz did a horrible job today. There’s multiple things you can get on Schwartz about today. But let’s not pretend this team is full of talent on defense. Besides the defensive line, McLeod and slay the rest of those guys out there are garbage Or shouldn’t be starters. I give wallace a small break as he’s a rookie.

Lol then Howie at the end of the season will say they are happy where they're at because they got into the playoffs

Howie throwing darts at "speed guys” in later rounds of the draft instead of adding a veteran at some point is a fireabke offense. His whole Fing offseason was. But congrats on getting Fulgham, dude, I’m sure you’ll live off that one for another 3 years.

what even is this team right now? I mean they obviously aren’t good but it’s hard to gauge. The Niners are getting worked by Miami right now. And even when you thought the Eagles defense was a staple it clearly isn’t either

I'm usually very critical of Wentz. This was not a game Wentz lost. Sure, he could have been better, but he showed development and actually trusted a receiver for once.

This game is on Schwartz. The DL played well. The secondary played as expected. Defensive scheme lost this game for the Eagles, plain and simple. Gerry on Claypool was a mother Fing joke.
