Either you keep 7 WR and continually not dress 2 of them wasting 2 roster spots or you cut bait on a late round draft pick. I agree, both Alshon and DJack can kick rocks but they are here like it or not based on what their dead cap numbers are. However, let's not act like Hightower or Watkins are some kind of saviors. They don't look fast. They look more JAGish than Ward does and I'm a huge Ward fan. Your one game conclusions don't mean much. How about we give these guys a few more games before passing arbitrary and premature judgments?

October 12, 20204 yr Who was the guy in here flexing about how "good" the Eagles D was this year completely ignoring the QBs they've faced? Two good teams and they've given up 37 and 38. They blow.

Hightower has played every game so far. Has he done anything that made you think hey he could be a player? He is a JAG. Burnett did more in his one game last year than Watkins did today. What I'm saying is these guys are being billed as speed WR. Guys you want to take the top off the defense. Neither of them appear to be as fast as their times.

October 12, 20204 yr While I'm eternally grateful for 2017, this FO is proving it to be anomaly. Every year since they've shown that they are incompetent at building a roster or being a consistently successful franchise. Sooner or later you have to pull the plug.

That plus an injured o-line and QB that yin his own head is why the Eagles O isn’t great. That being said, if you told me the Eagles were going to put up 29 today I would have predicted a win. The D sucked
October 12, 20204 yr The Schwartz-Pederson-Roseman dynamic just seems stale. All three need to up their games.

Hightower has been getting open pretty consistently, notwithstanding a couple of mistakes today. No idea why you want to make premature conclusions on these guys in order to save face for bad front office signings.

The D sucked Oh i know. The point I was trying to make back to the initial comment was that once Alshon and DJack are back there is going to be a logjam at WR. How do you handle it? You can't cut Alshon or DJack....it's just not smart with the dead money. Unless they continue to have injuries keeping them on IR. If they are healthy though, they are going to be active. Same with Ward, Fulgham and JJAW. That leaves Hightower and Watkins. Like you said, we are talking about 5th and 6th round picks here. They have yet to show the speed that everyone was raving about in camp. If guys have that true game speed it's going to pop off on the screen. Fulgham seems to have a very nice game speed. He runs with power and fluidity. Did that speed just happen to look good against Maddox, Douglas, Sidney and the rest of the slot corner gang?

If they could cut Alshon or DJack tomorrow I would say yes and let the young guys play. They can't. We are stuck with them. There is no saving face. All I'm saying is nothing about the young guys stands out to me at all. There are going to be some tough decisions to make. The horrible front office signings and drafting are why we are holding out hope for a 5th and 6th rounder to show us something...anything.

I saw him open when Carson overthrew him and when he was in the endzone failing to make a pretty routine catch. Too many memories of Nelson not being able to find the ball flashing through my head when that happened. If I wasn't seeing that catch being made in games all over the league I wouldn't be as down on him as I am now.

His speed was evident all day long as he wan free behind their secondary.

That plus an injured o-line and QB that yin his own head is why the Eagles O isn’t great. You can view Hightower from a view different lenses. As a rookie 5th round pick, he’s fine. He moves well, sometimes gets open, and is still learning. As part of Howie’s plan to upgrade a horrendous WR corps for 2020, he’s an inexcusable failure. He represents the second largest investment in a WR to improve things from last years dumpster fire of a WR corps. And all he’s managed to do this year is look lost and kick the football around more than our punter. As a possible future solution at WR, it doesn’t matter if he’s a first round pick or a udfa. We need guys that make plays and get open; there’s no bonus or curve for being a late pick. And from this lens, he doesn’t look good. He moves pretty well, but his speed doesn’t look that dangerous, quickness looks unimpressive. And while he has generated SOME separation deep, he has literally screwed up everything else. So...by all means...see things through with his development. But don’t BANK on anything good from Hightower this year, next, or ever based on what he’s shown so far. I would absolutely start to give Watkins some looks.
