I don't know how Hightower will perform in the future, but right now he is a detriment to the team.

I would say right now that missing all 3 of our starters is the detriment to the team

Its not one that he missed on due to talent scouting though. You can complain about a lot of other WRs he missed on due to rating their talent differently. That wasnt the case for DK. Howie would have been following the advice of the medical staff. And hes not qualified to overrule them.

So basically another reason to hate the Eagles medical staff?

well, no. they were probably right. 31 other teams didnt take him in round 1, and a bunch more passed on him in round 2 again.

Do you think Brandon Brooks plays next season?  He’s cut a lot of weight, seems to like his MMA training, and has had three significant football injuries in succession

Yes I think he plays. It’s a good move to lose some weight while he’s recovering, easier to put it back on. Loved playing next to Lane as well.

Is it a good move to lose weight? I guess it is whilst he is recovering but he's then got to add on that size again to play football.

Has it ever come out what Malik Jackson did to get a personal foul and then storm to the bench?

I get it but this is the same medical staff that cleared Sidney Jones despite not being able to play right away. I also understand that we are talking Achilles vs. a neck and DK was definitely a higher risk.

You also have to look at the Seahawks.  They had Kam Chancellor who suffered a neck injury with them.  They clearly thought DK was worth the risk and they had dealt with neck injuries.

What a slap in the face

Doug has basically been emasculated with respect to his assistants, though, so not much he can really say

I'm hoping it does not matter.  Doug also said and thought that Groh was safe.  Lurie needs to make sure they do not extend Shorts.

Without getting entangled with any specific pick, let me just say; our draft revenue has been atrocious and something HAS to be done if this team is to improve. Since the process of drafting has never been exposed, I don't feel confident blaming any specific person. But Jeffrey Lurie knows; and it's now time for HIM to do something. He's been overly trusting in the past. But that has typically been succeeded by regime change if that trust has been broken by repeated failure. I'm expecting big changes at this point. QB, HC, GM, DC(all 4?), is anybody's guess. Start a thread.

Carson is better than he's playing no doubt, because right now he looks like, well ...Doug Pederson in 1999 -who can forget. Doug SUCKED at QB and now so does Carson. As our standings deteriorate, so will the team's desire to play for a coach that apparently has no answers. He's outta here after the season is over. Unfortunately until then, guys still have to play for him and things could get ugly. Whatever post-superbowl strategy Jeff had for the team and staff, was the wrong one. And retaining guys like Reich and Foles, was probably the right one, though many factors are involved and I don't blame him. It is however, time to reassess that strategy.

Hightower is not a first or even second round pick (not even close) of course other higher picks are going to play better right now. Once Reagor gets back you'll see one right here in Philly doing it.

He wasn’t passed over because of talent concerns. He lost his season to a neck injury that a lot of teams red flagged him on. That’s not on howie it’s on team medical.  If he takes him in 1 and he plays six games and can never play again because of the neck the story is Howie’s incompetence in taking the injury risk. Seahawks took the risk and so far it’s paying off. Kids a stud but that was never the question.

howie bears a ton of responsibility for the roster but the metcalf pass is on the medical staff.

This.

So why did they take Sidney Jones if they are so concerned with medical issues? How is metcalf playing 6 games and never again any different than what JJAW currently offers ?

Jones happened before DK. That failed so why take another chance on a neck issue this time. People should complain about why they took JJAW over someone else that's producing. DK is a bad example

Coworker gave me a heads up that Sydney Jones played lights out, unsure why the Eagles got rid of them and had his first career pic yesterday so thats fun

Do you mean his first pick as a Jaguar? Sidney Jones had 2 last year.

I know Ben says they were in a cover-2 zone but is it really cover anything when Gerry is on the field.

Him and Douglas are balling.  Gym Shorts and his scheme need to go today.  Get Dan Quinn in here.

Friendly reminder that anyone criticizing Howie for passing on Metcalf, when every other team in the NFL did it twice, should not be taken seriously.

It should when the guy you drafted instead was JJAW.

Seriously. You can’t make this S up.

If Howie had any sense, he would cut Gerry just to take away Schwartz's option of putting him on the field.

GreenD  with 35- 21 and bacarty with 33-23 were both 11 points off.

Honorable mention to Casey@bat with the 38 -17 pick and 12 points off

Why is our LB, who is horrendous, lined up on the receiver who already has 3 TD's?  Why no timeout to adjust this last second?  I think those are the better questions.

Eagles needed their timeouts at that point as they were still down and steelers likely at least get a FG which would force eagles to get a td to win with around 2 minutes. Taking a timeout at that point wasnt a viable option.

Good play by the steelers getting a WR matched up on a gerry poor jobby gerry but put in bad position.

Quarters dime coverage seems to be Schwartz new sticks coverage😒

Even with the free release, look at much faster Fulgham looks than the rest of the WRs.

He plays "a lot bigger" than his 6'2 height.  Really good to see.

This was a point I was trying to make last night.  Fulgham isn't a blazer when it comes to 40 times.  Watkins and Hightower both were.  Fulgham just plays faster.  I haven't seen that stopwatch speed translate yet (minus one open play for Hightower).  He plays fast, he runs with a sense of urgency and attacks the ball with his hands a la OBJ.

Something Ironic about Acho telling us how Nate Gerry gets burnt.

But nailed it

Spare me with this. It doesn't take a HOF'er to see the obvious mismatch and exploit it. Even the terrible broadcast team instantly picked up on Gerry vs Claypool. It is absolutely Schwartz fault and if the Offense lines up in a way you weren't expecting with an enormous mismatch on a must stop play, you call a timeout.
