I see your point but I really don't want to jeopardize the kids mental state. If he isn't caught up with the playbook, I can't put him out there and destroy his confidence. We suck anyway so at this point I'm numb the Gerry disaster.

If a player has that weak of an ego, they are going to fail in the NFL.  If I had ever made a hire and told my superiors that I wanted them to just sit for a year and learn, especially because their ego couldn’t handle an experienced negotiator like NCIggle, well one of my favorite bosses would have put it well, don’t let the door hit you in the  a$$ on the way out.

I can't decide if its funny or depressing that every film review tweet is summed up as "Nate Gerry, what are you doing?"

We have to stop comparing our jobs to NFL players’.

Starting with BTL they have 3 homes games in a row then the bye before taking a bus ride to NNJ.  BTL will be tough, though, it depends which Lamar Jackson shows up.  He's usually good, but when he lays down a clunker it's usually pretty bad.  We should beat the NYG on Thurs, but NFCE games are always difficult.  DAL is a toss up and could turn into a shootout.  At CLE is a toss up as well.  They aren't a pushover this season and have weapons on O.  SEA and NO, even though at home, they both seem to have our number.  GB might have some revenge as motivation for us coming in last year and beating them.  Then 2 away games to ARI, where we usually don't play well, and DAL.

There's a lot of questions we can't foresee the answers to right now.  Like which Eagles O shows up to these games?  The one that looked good vs the Stillers or the one that looked putrid the first few games?  Will we get any players back off IR and if so how well will they perform?  Enough to make a difference?  Will the D continue to be exposed in the passing game?  Which DL shows up, the one racking up sacks or the one that didn't register a QB hit for the last 3 QTRs?

The next game vs BTL should show how they bounce back from losing a game they could have won.  They could win 7 more games or they could win only 3-4 more.  The team in its current state is too erratic to tell right now.

So you think the sitting and learning is working for the Eagles?  It is an abject failure.      I don’t think the NFL is different than the real world, where Sixth round choices end up outperforming second round choices. In almost any skill set, you learn more,by doing.  In a physical game like the NFL, especially with limited padded practices, the players learn with playing time.

Yes, right now I see the team as either 6-9-1 or 7-8-1.  Seven wins could win the division, but I see six wins as more likely.  Last year 6-9-1 would have been the #11 draft slot.

I see the offense getting better as the season goes on, but the defense has too many holes and will cost the team winnable games through the season.

Soooo, he's dogging it

Coaching staff needs to repeat whatever they said to Ertz after that Bengals game when he avoided blocking a player who was chasing Wentz to the sideline.  The question now is whether Ertz would listen to it.

You can see in Ertz's body language that he's not dialed in. After the season, you'll hear, "Yeah, my contract probably was a distraction looking back at it."

It's super disappointing from an all-time Eagles great and Super Bowl hero. He'll always be an Eagles legend to me, but his time here is very likely nearing its conclusion.

From what I remember, outside the TD catch almost every pass from Wentz to Fulgham was money. He looked like a totally different guy throwing to him

which should tell us, the issue isn't Wentz. It's who he doesn't have to throw to.

Not all players respond the same. Improvement is not linear for all players. If Taylor has no idea what he’s doing and is screwing up repeatedly in practice, I don’t think he should be out there playing in Week 5.

If you want to compare this to the real world, it would be like throwing a community college grad into a management position at your Fortune 500 company and expecting him to grow into the job.

I'm sure it's a combination of things but Wentz still needs to improve his mechanics/footwork/accuracy, etc.

I wouldn't go that far. Wentz was still an issue. Who he doesn't have to throw to is still an issue. Both are somewhat resolving each other.

....Giants fans are going to call to fire Gettleman because they passed on Fulgham for Slayton.

At least that's what would happen here.

Again, I don’t see where Hightower slows down for one millisecond here.  Not sure what Zangaro was seeing.

Look. I also think Ertz phoned in His performance yesterday.  But.... before we’re all ready to cut, draw, quarter him and have him walk the plank, just remember..... he’s had performances like this before where the fans and media (maybe coaches too?) called him out for being soft and not giving maximum effort and he usually comes back the next game with a renewed purpose and drive.

With that said, I still would accept a trade of him for 2 3rd round draft picks.
