Chad Johnson had some positive words for Fulgham

I finished the Inside the Birds episode. Man, Caplan just trashed the defense. He basically said he doesn't wanna sound like he's giving Schwartz a pass, but the talent on defense is just awful and they can't cover anybody due to the lack of talent in the secondary. He thinks the Eagles will need to score 27 points in most games to have a chance to win.

I can't say I disagree, people went way overboard with this defense after one game vs a bad Niners team. This defense sucks. And the offense does too. Which is why I see no point in making the playoffs and being fodder yet again.

I am not a GM, obviously. I'm not an expert, but, here's what I would do:

Get what I can for Ertz and Cox

Pray that Fulgham progresses, because Fulgham and Reagor could start on the outside next season IF they both continue to do well.

Get rid of Peters

Get rid of Clement

Get rid of Jackson

Get rid of Alshon

Do whatever is needed to get one of Chase or Waddle (Chase/Waddle, Reagor, Fulgham, Hightower, Watkins and Ward will hopefully suffice).

Get rid of Gerry

Get rid of Epps

Keep Mills on a cheap deal for safety/depth only. If he wants too much, get rid of him.

Draft as many LBs, corners and OL as humanly possible. Think McCleod, Wallace, Parks and Mills will suffice if everything else was set.

Fire Jim Schwartz

Can't fix it all in one off season, but I sure as crap guarantee you they would be better than this year's team.

The scheme sucks.

You forgot fire Howie

Howie basically took Alex Caruso over Lebron James and he still has a job. I put the wrong sandwich in the wrong customers bag at the drive thru when I was 17 and I was fired.

The Eagles need to hold Howie accountable.

Hey, I still liked the sandwich, sorry you got fired

I thought this was a very interesting decision, and I agreed with it.  Heinz Field is notoriously difficult to kick a long FG in -- I think the most difficult by the numbers, and there has never been anything longer than a 53-yard FG made -- but Elliott had the leg (and Doug got burned for punting earlier this year).

If Elliott makes that kick it would have been a huge boost for the team.  Even missing it, the Eagles aren't in terrible shape if the defense keeps PIT out of the end zone.

....... and then along came Gerry.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but from where they were on the field, I remember saying to myself that I wanted them to go for it.  It was 4th and 5, and the offense had just scored 2 TDs on consecutive possessions.  Surprisingly, they were on a roll.  I didn't know about the longest field goal in that stadium at the time, but regardless, I didn't feel good about Elliott nailing that field goal.

I thought that it was a given that I was taking over for him, lol, but yes he needs to go

Amazing during the offseason he was super high on the defense being better. However there were people like bpac, 4for4 and myself stating this all offseason. It shouldn’t be a surprise they lack talent on defense. Besides DL, slay and mcleod it’s a bunch of JAGs or rookies. It should’ve been obvious back in March and April. This unit even with the addition of slay and hargrave and getting back malik were below average at like 5 other positions. You knew teams would attack our other corner and safety position and linebackers cause they shouldn’t be starting and not good enough. It’s like caplan finally had an epiphany when it was always noticeable unless you didn’t want to believe it.

also Doesn’t help that Schwartz’s scheme over the last 3 years have seen turnovers decrease which imo is scheme being figured out and talent.

Yeah, that Slay trade is looking more and more pointless. Another shortsighted Howie move. He's been good, but the defense still can't cover anyone, so what was the point? And he probably has 1-2 more years of being good after this one. Howie was never a good talent evaluator, but his vision and planning has gone into the toilet lately too. Guaranteeing Alshon's money. Panic trade for Tate. Panic trade for Avery. Trading for Slay without beefing up the rest of the secondary to make the acquisition kinda pointless.

There isn't a single thing personnel related Howie does well right now. He's devolved back to being just a dude who can manage contracts.

Im loving every post that people are saying fire Jim, He needs to go. Im loving it cause ive been asking him to get fired since 2018 and almost every SOB said he was a good DC and I was crazy for thinking he needed to go. Now those same people who defended him are switching sides like sheep, lol.

That’s the issue with slay. Slay is great. He’s better than advertised. However it doesn’t mean much when your defense still gives up 38 points and can’t stop anyone when it matters on third down or in the red zone. Basically because the rest of the secondary besides mcleod stinks, teams just focus on attacking that area or our pathetic linebackers. It’s also great having studs along the DL they can be fantastic but if you have Massive holes elsewhere teams will figure it out and slow them down to be able to attack those areas. Good teams and coaches will scheme to neutralize our DL

What i want from people is this:

if fire howie who is the gm you want to replace him

if fire schwartz who is the DC you want to replace him

I meant Jeremiah though

I think both. Those guys out there having to be on the team is a Roseman thing. Epps playing over a guy like wallace is a Schwartz thing. Let’s face facts Epps doesn’t likely have a long term future here. Wallace on the other hand might. So why do i want to see more Epps who’s shown not capable then wallace who likely gets better with reps and potentially has a future with the team.

DC- Ive had in my head for 2 years now Rex Ryan. I have no clue if he wants to come back to coaching and being a DC but I think as a DC he was one of the best I have seen since Jim Johnson with his creativity, schemes, versatility, and game planning vs teams. Not to mention I think this team and city would like to have him blood line back in Philly and the toughness he demands from his players.

I'm hoping he can stay productive during the hopeful new DC transition. We've only had him for 5 games but I love the effort from him. I thought we lost him twice but he came back and made plays. Then he gets a concussion. How many has he had in his career? That'd help with guessing when he'll likely be back

Someone from Chiefs

I think Falcons recently fired HC would be good. I think he was the DC after Gus left the Legion of Boom

He's an above average DC. I get the argument for letting him go, but you better replace him with someone better. And if I hear the words Dan Quinn coming out of anyone's mouth, I'm throwing fists.

I’m good. I think he’s a clown.

I’m sure he’ll get a college head coaching offer but I think Bill O’Brien would make a great offensive coordinator here. Someone like him would work real well with Wentz.

Don't want that hack anywhere near this team
