Chad Johnson had some positive words for Fulgham

hopefully fulgham continues to develope and what we're seeing isn't just flashes.  for two games though, we've seen him show up, which is nice since teams already knew ward was our only dependable wr at the time.

but a trio of ward, fulham, and reagor doesn't sound too bad right now.  hopefully we get reagor back sooner than later so the young core can develop together.

as far as alshon and jaccpot...  meh.  at this point they're probably only reliable for one to two great catches a game between being injured.

I am happy for Fulgham’s performance yesterday but people are getting carried away with this especially on twitter and social media.  Remember he was bounced around for a reason and when Joe Haden switched on him he was shutdown.

I finished the Inside the Birds episode. Man, Caplan just trashed the defense. He basically said he doesn't wanna sound like he's giving Schwartz a pass, but the talent on defense is just awful and they can't cover anybody due to the lack of talent in the secondary. He thinks the Eagles will need to score 27 points in most games to have a chance to win.

Watching both Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas start for other teams shows that it's not a talent issue, it's a coaching issue. I'm not even saying those two players are good (they're not), but they're better than Mills. Just like LJ Fort (starting for Baltimore) was better than Gerry. Or Sendejo (Starting for Cleveland) was better than Epps/Ford. Hell, how long did it take Avery to get snaps? Chandon Sullivan & De'Vante Bausby are both getting real snaps in Green Bay & Denver.

That's coaching.

Give me Jeremiah at GM & Dan Quinn at DC.

Don't give me that.  Sendejo sucks... and was a dumpster fire.

Dan Quinn is interesting. He likes to play the infamous Seattle Cover 3. My issue with that is that it takes a lot of talent on defense for it to be successful. If people think Schwartz is predictable, I don't think they'll like Dan Quinn at all.

Cutting LJ Fort made absolutely no sense for this team. That one is really unbelievable.

Who was the guy who saw LJ Fort and thought Hmmm these other guys on roster are much better let him go.

only thing i can remember about pendejo is friendly fire and something akin to this happening around the goal line on the way to the super bowl:

Looks like a 777 Cat? Actually that might be the smaller version.

I used to drive a 777 in the summers for work. 😅

Don't want that hack anywhere near this team

Hack? He only led his team to the playoffs just about every year... The guy can coach

As far as retreads, Marvin Lewis and Perry Fewell would interest me, IF either are even interested. Kris Richard kinda interests me, but he falls into that Cover 3 trap with the likes of Quinn.

If you want to take a leap and chance on up and comers, Jerod Mayo or DeMeco Ryans would be options.

Flajole or Shwartz

Its not about 'predictability', its about 'accountability'.  When these guys blow assignments, they need to not do it again.  Being predictable is one thing, being predictably horrific and predictably being caught in busted coverages... To me it isn't about the coverages, etc.   Part of it is about coaching up the talent and about talent evaluation.  Seattle had some talented players on defense, but they came from deep in the draft as much as early picks.

Tell that to Nathan Gerry.

I hear ya.  Which is why I am ready for a change at DC.  No accountability for Gerry.   We've got an empty cupboard at LB as well, which is on the GM.  So, he can go too.

nate gerry is doing the best nate gerry can.  as much as i hate the guy, i can't hate the guy.  the coaches have to put him in the best position to succeed, which is left bench or "we'll call you if a water boy / girl gets sick".

So all I've been hearing all day is Chase Claypool.....TV or radio, doesnt matter.

People are saying he's the Steelers #1 now and go pick him up for your fantasy team.  Alot of hype now for this guy.

Is this kid really good or did he just benefit from playing the Eagles?  Those TDs were pretty easy if you ask me.  It'll be interesting to see if he can continue to play this well or if it was just playing a bad secondary.

I thought he looked the part.  He was explosive, quick and fast, and he took advantage of our pathetic back 6 (excluding Slay).  I remember watching his absolutely freakish combine, and it looks like he has actually slimmed down a little since then.  I'm sure the Steeler's offseason training and strength and conditioning programs did exactly what they're supposed to do with a player like Claypool.  If he was here, he would have gotten a 7-8 week soft tissue injury in the first practice and his playbook would have been lost in the mail.

I'm just glad people are finally seeing the light with regards to Howie and Schwartz

So who does Doug have left to use to create mismatches or favorable coverage?

Sometimes splitting him out wide isn’t just to create the best matchup for Ertz, but to create a matchup for a different player.

Nobody sadly.☹️

speaking of the chiefs wtf happened yesterday. Offense basically no showed for the entire second half besides one drive. Additionally the defense routinely was getting destroyed deep. I kind of felt like the chiefs offense was good one week and so so the next week so far this season. Just feels like something is off there. Like they could be clicking even better. CEH has been kind of a disappointment for the chiefs. I thought he would look great but he got just 10 carries yesterday. Heck since week one he’s had 46 rushes for 166 yards which is just 3.6 yards per carry. Even in the pass game he hasn’t looked as dynamic

Good.  F them.

Many of us have seen the light with Howie even when AR was here.

Unfortunately for us the SB win got him a get out of jail free card.

Lol, great instincts there. Yikes.

Also, what on earth is Mills doing there?

Edit: When I defend Schwartz, this is the stuff I’m talking about. There is no way Epps or Mills played that as they’re coached. How can you win with this type of play? And before people blame Schwartz for it, I put far more of that on the positional coaches.

Mills??? Vilma asked the same on the broadcast saying I'm not sure what mills us doing???

I had high hopes for mills at safety I thought it was his more natural position and hed be better there than at corner, mills has been useless at both this year minus playing ok at corner in SF.

Schwartz likes to say he has position less players in the back 7 and I'm starting to think maybe they're position less because they can't play any position.☹️

That is true.  He apparently is a sucker for any type of minor play action, getting sucked up far too often and then can't get back in position afterwards, repeatedly.  And he never should have been asked to line up over Claypool on that 3rd down at the end, but he did and he was beat HORRIBLY.  And then there's the defensive call that led to him being there on that play.   If the LB has to line up on the slot, put him up close and let him get hands on him and disrupt his route, with the safety sitting over the top.  He just went scot free for the conversion, which then turned into an easy TD.  Multiple easy TDs, as a matter of fact for him today, far too many.

This defense lacks talent on the back end... all back 7 players, minus Slay could be upgraded fairly easily, if they had ANY money left to do it with.  The defense's success is simple... if the DL isn't 100% disruptive, the back end will get skewered.  That's a recipe for disaster.  Even as the DL was being very disruptive early in the game against Pittsburgh, they were still getting conversions with those shallow crossers and jet sweeps.
