DAMN! So didn't expect for Doug to pile on Wentz like that.

I've been going over the schedule and I don't see anymore than 3-4 wins for this team. CIN, NYGx1, CLE, and maybe the 2nd WAS game. Between our poor performance and lack of talent in key areas, coupled with our inevitable onslaught of injuries, I don't see any other outcome.

My only hope is that in that scenario we get the #1 pick and draft Lawrence to start all over.

if so, we trade the pick for a kings ransom

Eagles were well on their way to an easy win. Carson is RUSTY as all hell. Basically gave that game away.

His throws when they needed to be high and outside , were Low and inside.

When they needed to be arc'ed in they were way over their heads. When he had Reagor and later DeSean all alone, he missed by a mile, yeah because he was taking a beating.

Not placing blame on anybody. Team Loss. Nothing that can't be fixed.

At a certain point, I was sure I was watching the Reincarnation of Donovan McNabb.

Say what you want about McNabb but he could hit the deep pass. Carson struggles at it.

This is why I think Wentz is still hurt. Doug stayed far away from calling any roll outs, or moving the pocket, and Wentz did nothing to elude the pressure, something he is usually pretty good at.

The only thing I can think of is he is hurt.

It was obvious. Wentz is a veteran and you can't lie to the team. That's how players turn on coaches during a season (see Trubisky last year).

No thanks, don't want Howie with extra picks to F up. Just take the consensus #1 guy and move on from Wentz.

Oh god , now we're back to "you can't criticize" McNabb?

Wentz made a terrible throw, at a terrible time. Nobody's tossing him under the Bus and trying to install Kevin Kolb, that's you guys running with it.

Wentz needs to watch his week 1 performance, realize he's Rusty as all hell, shake it off and go out and get the Win against the Rams.

End of Story.  So sick of the #SafeSpacers

As bad as the Eagles O Line played yesterday, truth is if Wentz protects the ball , we probably still win that game. That's it.  The "reason" we lost? The O LINE GOT KILLED. It's not on Wentz but the Truth is the Truth.

Oof.

We don't really know what Washington is right now.  I wouldn't bet on it, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they emulate a 2017 Jags or 2019 SF team, where they come from nowhere with an opportunistic offense and monster defense to knock of a bunch of teams on their a**.

If that were to happen, it's a problem for the division, but might make us feel a lot better about today's events.

They were down their top CB.  Their defense is going to be a problem for teams all year long.

On offense they are lacking a full set of WR but McLaurin is the real deal.  Logan Thomas is finally a tight end and not a QB learning the position.  He's just a big athlete out there who should be a matchup problem.  He made plays against the Eagles.  Their RB leave a lot to be desired but the rookie definitely has some pop.  If Haskins can improve and not lose games, they will be a decent team.

That's the thing when comparing the Eagles and Redskins, they loaded up on young talent and it looks like they are ready to show out whereas the Eagles neglected young talent for so long and are now relying on guys who are too young or older players ready to fall apart.

Ertz might see the writing on the wall that Goeddert is the future as soon as 2021

I like DJ, but even with the sacks, Wentz was ballin’ early. He’s 100 percent right though that we for whatever reason didn’t use the quick passing game with a bad OL and a QB who didn’t help out the bad OL.

That's frustrating. Should have thrown the ball into the dirt instead of taking the sack trying to make something happen. The play is dead, no need to lose yards.

Didn't get to watch the game today due to doing someone at work a favour and switching days with them.  Was following on ESPN's Gamecast.  Just wanted to know, if anyone cares to offer their opinion, exactly how bad was our OL today?  I know Driscoll went out and Mailata came in for him.  If anyone here was looking more at our OL play today than who had the ball in their hands I'd be interested in hearing from you and how you think they played as a unit and as individuals.  How much was on them and how much was on Wentz for holding onto the ball too long?  I've been/was reading posts (that damned godaddy snafu that lost post during the game so I'm going of memory as I did check in here now and then when I wasn't getting those 502 or whatever errors) and it sounded like the OL was poor, but Wentz didn't help himself either.

All of the Washington Football Team's scoring drives were less than 50 yards so we gave them a short field to play catch up and blow past us.  The play calling?  Was it poor?  No adjustments?  Hard to discern all that from a boxscore.  If we didn't adjust to having backups in and that the WFT's D adjusted to what we were doing and we didn't do anything different then that is a huge problem.  That means our coaching staff can't make adjustments as needed.

Just curious as to what some of you think.  Thanks.

Regarding Mailata and I watched him exclusively when he was in.  He played catch with the defender the entire time he played.  He never extended his arms to engage.  Almost every snap he let the defender get in to his body, losing leverage.  What I'm not sure of is if he was correct in his assignments every time.

The positive side is that even with piss poor technique (Stoutland you've had 3 years with him now...) He still didn't look like trash.  His strength often times allowed him to overcome bad technique.

I don't think he was terrible.  Herbig was worse.  If Lane is out next week I would much rather see Driscoll at RG and Mailata at RT.  He's only going to learn and get better from live action.

Eagles fans man. After a win, it's no big deal it's just one game. After a loss, we need to trade everyone and start over. 🙅

That’s not far, Doug initially said, I have no regrets because I trust my QB, then in the next sentence said, maybe he could have went to different target there. ESP just happened to leave out the first part.

Legit question...

Was there any called roll outs/sprint outs for Wentz yesterday?

Was there any screens called in the 2nd half?

Not sure about the 2nd half screens but from stats I've seen this morning, Carson had only 1 designed play where he was moving out of the pocket...and where he is at his best...against a ferocious pass rush...with a 3rd string O-line.  It makes ZERO sense why DP didn't call more roll outs for Carson.  Get him away from the trash.  They clearly couldn't slow them down and they just let him sit there to get teed off on.

That wouldn't be a swindle.   Ertz is the 3rd best TE in football- 32nd pick for him is a good deal.  But they don't need him.  Now, teams like Pittsburgh, Vikings, Cowboys, Cardinals, Bills, Tennessee....

Ertz isnt even the best TE on the Eagles at this point

How many passes need to go through his hands?

What? Really? I have them below the Saints, Niners, Packers, Seahawks. Our competition in the NFC? This team is nowhere near competing for the #1 seed.

I’d throw the Rams. Cards, Bucs, Cowboys, Vikes on that list too. I think the Cards are a surprise team that will have a good season and beat us when we play them.

Yesterday game was bad!  Wentz tried to make deep throws all day long.  But the OL could not block long enough for the plays to work.  But the play call and Wentz kept on that and sacks piled up.  Wentz taking all those hits won't be good.  Thin on RB also hurt.  No rushing plays and they could not help out on blocking.

Wentz's tendency is to extend plays and make the pass game worked.  He did have successes in the past.  But yesterday was not the right thing to do.  He might just insist to hitting his speedy WRs.  But did DJax have any long catch?  Rookie Reagor had one deep and one INT on a pass to him.  Hightower had a few targets, but he dropped passes and INT on one play.  Despite the praise on JJaw in TC, he was not targeted yesterday.  Even Ertz had a few misses.  Goudert did better and might have more targets than Ertz.

On TV cast, it was not easy to see how the rookie OLs played.  Sacks and little running plays should indicate that there were problems.  They earned valuable game experience, at the expenses of QB taking hits and team loss.  Playing rookies are not a bad thing, but too many inexperienced ones at the same time will have issues.

Howie should be ashamed of himself with that JJ pick, ashamed. There’s some really nice receivers in the league that came out of that draft too.

It's clear Wentz did a much better job in the first quarter.  It seemed like after he took a sack from Sweat coming in as a free rusher that he started being off target.

I agree there was terrible play calling.  I wonder if they were being cautious about Wentz's groin.  The other issue I had was the lack of throws to the RB on first down.
