I mean, Wentz was out after like 2 drives

And its not like we didnt glean anything from our stripped-down roster with a 50 year old at QB hanging with the Seahawks into the 4th quarter

Thats great experience for everyone involved and being part of a winning organization means something.

And what did that really get us besides warm and fuzzies for a couple of weeks?

A young, starting-calibre LT is worth much more than a 3rd.

Dillard will be 26 next year with how many starts at LT under his belt?  The only thing he's proved is that he can't play both tackle spots.  We traded a first for JP after he had successfully started for the Bills and was an athletic freak.

They would be lucky to get a 3rd for Dillard.

Last year's playoff appearance was a complete waste of everyone's time, as would be a playoff appearance this year.

I'm sure Wentz himself would trade a first round playoff loss for a WR who doesn't suck.

Missing the playoffs last year almost guarantees Jalen Hurts isnt on this team.

We would have CeeDee Lamb and no Jalen Hurts.  What a wonderful thing that would be.

I'd rather have Ruggs than Lamb.

The real benefit to missing the playoffs last year would have been taking Claypool in the second.  Not that Howie would have done it though.

give me anyone, literally anyone in the 2nd round besides Jalen hurts

JJAW?

It worked out great last year...

Not even the same players, not named Wentz.

Not to mention the severe concussion Wentz suffered by being in the playoffs.

Maybe even when we get good again, we shouldn't do the playoffs. Just in case

Fort does not fit this scheme, it's pretty simple.  He's a 3/4 ILB

No he was good here

He has one named Reagor.

Also, as far as the QB factory talk and talk of trading Hurts for an even better pick...with the mechanics and decision-making Wentz has displayed under this coaching staff lately, who exactly is going to trade for Hurts with the hope that he becomes their starting QB?

I heard the plan was draft, coach, trade, & profit.  If you are the GM/fan of another team in need of a QB, are you offering up a 2 and change to trade for Jalen Hurts?

He could have had another in the 2nd round this year if we were picking higher, or perhaps a better one than Reagor from the 1st.

1.) You have no idea who would have been picked there. 2.) You said Wentz would have rather have a wide receiver that doesn't suck

Hurts was drafted to be the #2 QB for the next few years.   If they decide to trade him for picks later, that’s just a plus.  But I guarantee they did not draft Hurts just to trade him in 2 years.

Good to know our GM places 2nd round value on the backup QB.  That is, um, innovative.

Who said 5 years?

look at this year. We suck, we're injured. Shelf everyone and come back healthy next year with a top 2 picks in the top 40 that even with how bad we draft should be every day starters next year

OR

struggle all year, keep getting beat up, maybe sneak into the playoffs, maybe not. pick in the late teens and do it allll over again next year

I hear you but it’s more complicated than that. If picking first was the secret then the browns and the lions would be the dynasties of the century. You have to also build winning culture and expectation. There is real danger in the message "ok we’re packing it in for the next ten games and that’s ok to this franchise.”

This year, because of how awful the division is, being second in div could be the difference of fifteen or twenty picks. I think this may be a year to hope that we don’t win the division but it’s not an easy call and it’s not without an effective counterargument.

 WTF? Is he psychic? How does he know if cover-2 would've been "good" against the play they had called.

That one's ENTIRELY on Schwartz...and a little bit on the communication between Howie and Schwartz.  Everyone could easily see that Douglas had excellent instincts in coverage, played the ball exceptionally well, was sticky in short range, used his length well, and just flat out could not carry deep speed.

Use him accordingly or don't draft him.

That Ron Wolf was a bum.

Who else is he going to have in from the scrubs he’s got in the back 7. He already had Crevon, Craig and NRC in as well on the play. He needed one LB. why he had Gerry on Claypool instead of ANYONE else, that’s a different story.

No. They literally didn't have a RB on the field. There is absolutely no reason for Gerry to be out there.
