I believe Schwartz made the decision to go to more man coverage the year after drafting Douglas. It was a sunk cost.

And after seeing how our backup QB performed in that game, the Eagles decided to use a second-round pick on a QB. 

Almost everything about that playoff berth turned to S. 

Gase may have both feet out the door in NY, but he was the one who told everyone in that organization it would be a tremendous waste to go after Bell.

Well Mr. Negative no one is surprised by this, but it has nothing to do with the point other than another chance to voice your displeasure. Just the mere fact that you think Wentz is bad makes me not really value your opinion on the roster very much.

With the history of this team?  We won the Super Bowl thanks to our backup QB.  And most (offensively focused) teams placed a higher value on backup QB's after seeing what the Eagles did in 2017. 

People act as if a 2nd round pick is some sort of lock to be a "pro-bowler" when in reality, less than 50% are even in the NFL after 5 years. So if you can draft a solid backup QB (with the potential to start and/or trade for more picks later) that's a solid move, imo
