Don't minimize him.  He has excellent hands and is an excellent route runner.  That pass o. 4th down is out in front, hot and he literally barely has his head turned out of the break.

He's not a chump but that ball should have been caught. That said the loss was not on him.

And yet ' with all that ' if Wentz doesn't throw an "OUT" pattern up and in within the last couple minutes of the half, you go into half 17- ZIP and probably come out 24- ZIP.

You want to improve as a football team? STOP DOING WHAT YOU DID last year and get rid of the habit of giving up a TD before the end of the first half.

I don't think Washington is as bad as people think, they have two studs on their D-line and Kerrigan, they'll give a lot of people problems on defense, especially with Rivera as their HC. On offense, they'll be boom and bust with a lot of flaws but some playmaking athletes.

And they have some talent on offense, like rebuilding teams, they'll roll out a lot of young players, have weeks when they surprise people with their athleticism, weeks when their inexperience shows - but this year they actually have an early edge b/c they can get by on athleticism until more veteran teams get a couple games under their belts and start playing professional football.

Peters isn't going to finish the season, either Dillard comes back or Mialata will end up your LT.

To feel what way?  What are you talking about?

Goeddert is just better at this point, its a fact.  Ertz is not the #3 TE in the NFL.

That might be a 50-50 pass for a guy like me or you. That's a catchable ball by nfl standards and a drop. That particular pass is all Ertz. But again Ertz was only a small problem. Wentz and the O-line cost us that game. I'm probably one of the biggest Wentz fans in here but he sucked from almost the end of the 2nd quarter to the end of the game. Almost looked like he though he was playing madden on rookie setting.

One of Carson's strengths is that he can make all the throws. But it's a weakness as he will wait and wait for the big shot and not take what is in front of him.  He needs someone to constantly nag at him to check it down or throw it away, and wait for another play; especially relevant with a patchwork OL  Goff did that last night, even if there is a grounding penalty along the way - it's ok.  It's not acceptable for a QB to fumble as much as he does in his 5th year in the pros.  Does Carson get enough tough love at times?

I can see why Doug is on the hot seat for the season.  The last 2 years, it's taken a big disaster to get the team united and a little accountability, and I guess this season will be the same.   That does highlight a blind spot.

All is not lost and far from it. But they need to do more of the little things that were missing yesterday.

I was one of the first people last year saying we might want to look in to trading Ertz with the rise of DG, cap issues and such and I got destroyed for it too.  This goes back to the old boards.  

Some fans on here need to take off the Midnight Green glasses and be realistic about how much work the Eagles need to do to A. get younger and better and B. get out of cap hell in 2021.  I don't think any of us are taking away from what Ertz has done for the Eagles and there is no denying that he is still a top tier tight end in the NFL.  The Eagles just have a younger, more athletic and potentially more dominant player in DG already here.

My fear is the Eagles get sentimental, tie up Ertz in some high contract to make him happy but in doing so they tie their hands down the road and we'll have to watch DG walk.

 

As for Zeke's feed me tattoo on his stomach. Such a Cowboy thing to do. 😀

I'm 100% convinced that if Wentz doesn't make that Rookie mistake and turn the ball over to end the first half, we're sitting here 1-0. For as bad as our O Line was, Haskins was worse.

Can't change the past. Watch the tape. Don't dwell on it and get right back in the thick of things with a win over the Rams this week.

This was Doug's 1st opening day Loss.  He's 4-1.   This is also Carson's 1st Opening Day Loss.  He's 3-1. We were on a 6 Game Winning Streak against Washington.  You know how the NFC East can be with streaks.  Washington has a new Coach who happens to be a very good coach we all know so well in Ron.  So New Coach, New Name, New Energy.   We came out hot but got to comfortable.   Plus our mistakes gave them short field most of the game.  They scored two TD's off the TO.  So that's 14 points right there.   We lost by 10.  Also the 8 Sacks was just way too much.   Anyways, there was no preseason and we've had a lot of injuries.  The Good news, we are home the next 2 weeks.   We need to regroup and correct these mistakes for the Rams.
