You would rather Howie waste the pick naturally through the draft?

Why not.  Even a blind squirrel something something.

I think a lot of people who fail to see the "big picture" are still holding out hope that this team can rekindle the 2017 magic.  Lurie and Howie seemed to be included in that.  This can be done rather quickly, if they take the organizational stance to do it.  But until then, they are just kicking the can down the street.

The most alarming and concerning for the future...IMO.  Is Wentz.  He has not progressed in certain areas and I am not going to just chalk it up to the bad O-line play or bad WR play anymore.  This deep into his career a star QB should be able to elevate his teammates.  He still holds onto the ball too long, he still spazzes out and takes unnecessary hits.  And he'll still continue to get hurt.  He still sails the ball and he still has deep ball accuracy concerns.  I honestly think, he is what he is.

Serious Question:  Does anyone feel like Carson can calm the huddle or the sideline down as ish starts to go sideways?  Does he seem like the calming confident leader?  Or does he seem like the guy who needs to be calmed down? That is why I all him Ginger Spazzbot.  Love the guy.  Love the person he is and the competitor he is.  But I am not so sure he's the guy we thought he was.

He does not seem to be.  He sulks, pouts.  It doesn't help.

I don't disagree.  But Kelce crap the bed yesterday in so many ways and not a peep from folks here.  Ertz dropped a pass.  Kelce, with no crowd noise, couldn't see blitzes and help the two to his right to make the right play, got manhandled most of the game, couldn’t get off blocks, couldnt create space, just not a good day.

The point is, it was a bad 35 minutes for most of the team.  Stars, All Pros included. All of them

Oh I think Kelce had his worst game as an Eagle yesterday but he was still the tallest midget in that crap show of an O-line.  The issue with Ertz is all the contact talk and being unhappy.  In sports, especially Philly, if you're going to be unhappy and make it known in the media, you darn well better bring your A game.

Ertz would've caught that ball if he had his contract. I say we trade him <g>

I'm fine with this.  His value will never be higher and we are going to have to pay Goedert soon

As 4for4 was saying, it's definitely a thing

Saints are just far above us on the field, play calling, coaching, talent evaluation and drafting... It’s depressing

I saw Drew run and then throw the ball away before taking a sack. It was strange and alien play.

you know it's bad if Baldy is complaining. Couple things did open my eyes there though. 1. Desean is still fast 2.) That Reagor overthrow wasn't really an overthrow

Cordy Glenn and a #2 RB should be signed ASAP.

Wentz isn't Aaron Rodgers. Five years in, he's still making the same mistakes. At this point, I wanna see Sanders and the #2 carry the load this season with Wentz striking off play action and/or rollouts. Expecting an erratic passer to suddenly become steady is a recipe for 8-8, and, with this schedule, possibly 6-10.

It's sad how Doug and the OCs underestimated Skins and then didn't even make any adjustments

Also how Schwartz still had Slay not play to his strength

Wentz wanted to throw deep but the Oline just couldn't block. I'm also thinking he might still be sore since he didn't move around but after 8 sacks it might be more. Doug and the OCs failed him

So what was the point of all of those OCs to help out when the gameplan looked like that

At least Dallas lost too

54% to Jackson. So did he do that or were they limiting his use to keep him fresh for the season? I was expecting Peters to not be 100% and Jackson to be 70-90%

This was Doug's 1st opening day Loss.  He's 4-1.   This is also Carson's 1st Opening Day Loss.  He's 3-1. We were on a 6 Game Winning Streak against Washington.  You know how the NFC East can be with streaks.  Washington has a new Coach who happens to be a very good coach we all know so well in Ron.  So New Coach, New Name, New Energy.   We came out hot but got to comfortable.   Plus our mistakes gave them short field most of the game.  They scored two TD's off the TO.  So that's 14 points right there.   We lost by 10.  Also the 8 Sacks was just way too much.   Anyways, there was no preseason and we've had a lot of injuries.  The Good news, we are home the next 2 weeks.   We need to regroup and correct these mistakes for the Rams.

Very possible that wasn't even the best front 4 we'll face. Next week we face one the best DTs in the league

Its all doom and gloom here, so I thought I'd bring some good news.  I was looking at Kelce's cap numbers yesterday

So if he retires after this season, he will be a 10 million dead cap hit for a 1.7 million dollar loss.  But if he plays out his contract and then retires, he is only a $7.2 million dollar dead cap hit.

Do we know who they plan to replace Kelce with already on the team? I don't know what round you get quality centers from

Nope.

And Kelce was a 6th, Max Jean-Gilles was a 4th, Hank Fraley was an UDFA... so any round?

While we're at it...we need more from Fletcher Cox.  For a $100 million player I'm just not seeing it from him anymore.  I know it's more than sacks and I also know he isn't Aaron Donald but where is this guy?  $100 million you need to make a few plays per game, not just take up space.

Or 1 if you’re the cowboys. Value may have changed the last few years. We learned yesterday the value Lane has this year. Line will be a mess until he’s up.

If we could get anything for him, that would be a $7 million dollar savings

Blaming Reagor on this play is not understanding WR play. His "hesitation" is based on looking at the QB to see where he's throwing it. You can't run full speed with your head looking back. Once he sees the ball, he accelerates. On that play, I was also surprised that Carson throw to the middle of the field instead of the sideline given where the safety was. If Carson throws to the sideline, it's 6 IMO. To be fair to Carson though, it seemed like the play-call was a post so expecting a rookie WR to adjust off of it is tough.

I don’t think it’s normal for a WR to hesitate out of his break on a post.

You guys are missing the bigger picture.

Tom Brady AND the Cowboys lost yesterday.  To your average National media NFL guy that's like the sky is falling.

Whatever will America do now?

Me? I'm going to go eat LaZagggna . Buon appetito

Hell, we learned it Wentz's rookie year when he was suspended.   When he played, we went 5-1.  The 10 games he was out we went 2-8

I can't defend this guy anymore. His footwork looks the same like last year, he still hasn't learned to throw the ball away, and he throws tantrums like a 5 year old at toys r us. Everything we heard about Wentz having a good training camp was fake news

You could tell that Brady was done last season. McCarthy is going to ruin Dallas and it'll be fun to watch

Cox needs hargrave to help take the double team away. Jackson is washed up

Another thing that’s frustrating is that it looks like it’s going to be another year of JJAW running cardio. He had about 40 snaps yesterday and really kept the momentum going from last year because yesterday he had zero targets. He’s going to be like WR6 when Alshon gets back....CD lamb came in and likely had more catches last night than this guys career. Another slam dunk "Im smarter than you” pick by roseman.

but hey, guy looks great in camp though.

Agreed, just saying I’m still not sure he gets his due as an anchor around here. I think yesterday was a win if he was up. Carson is clearly a qb that is heavily impacted by emotion and flow. When that goes downhill it’s going to be a problem. When he’s protected and clean he’ll put on a show, including defeating limited pressures.

I don't know how major the surgery was but having it in August to fix what was wrong with last season is just negligent. Hopefully he's not out for long

Huh? Jackson was the only D lineman worth mentioning yesterday maybe outside of Sweat.

He had a solid 1st quarter and fell off. He should be in the 2nd rotation

Jackson and Sweat were the best d-lineman yesterday.  Your $100 million DT shouldn't need another DT to take up double teams.
