Moving Mills to safety turned out to be an absolute joke. All it took was 1 injury for him to be the starter on the outside again.

To be fair, it took moving your slot cb to outside, cutting both reserve outside cbs, only keeping Craig James as depth with 2 other slot CB’s, and then one injury.

Maybe he fears Gruden. Gruden is a coach that gets on players' cases when they screw up. Some players don't respond to that kind of coaching and others do.  The Eagles tended to baby him when he struggled.  Maybe they should've done the opposite.

Don’t ever let him go, Gruden ...... please

It might be a good idea to have a PS kicker just in case of a positive test close to game day. If there’s a positive test on a Saturday it would be too late to get a guy signed and through all the testing in time for Sunday.

who needs a PS kicker when you can just punt for a tie LOL

The Toohill release really irritates me.  Yes, he's a late round pick and he's probably not going to amount to anything, which can be said for everyone with his draft status.  But he has some intriguing physical tools and the team with basically the best young pass rushers in the NFL saw enough to claim him on waivers.

All for what??  To add Vinny Curry to an already experienced, productive, and deep DE group?

Alshon was literally a waste of a roster spot.  They put him on the roster to not play for the entire duration of his PUP window.  JJAW exists on the roster solely to be leapfrogged by guys off the street.  They demonstrate no regard for even filling their own roster spots, yet they cut draft picks that other teams think have potential.

Wait until Raegor is ready to come back and Howie cuts Quez Watkins to protect Alshon, DeSean and Arcega-Crapside.

Another Howie special on roster construction. The secondary is filled with an abundance of slot guys but lacks true S and outside corners. We literally could roll out a formation with just slot guys and high paid DTs.

It is complete roster mismanagement. To be honest it is completely unacceptable for he should be fired just for that alone let alone his other issues.

I want to make a distinction between blame and being a problem.  I would argue that the former should not apply to Wentz, but the later does.  Wentz in year 2 looked like a generational talent.  He was Mahomes 1 year before Mahomes.  He was smart, had a great attitude, the best young arm talent in the NFL, could make every throw, had an elite frame, great athleticism...one could go on and on.

Now, let's cut the bull crap...SINCE 2017, Wentz has done nothing.  Spare me the "he put the team on his back and carried them to the playoffs" cliche.  That happened against horrible competition on the back half and earns the "doing just enough to get by with no help" participation trophy.

Is any of that Wentz' fault?  No.  Most, almost all of it, is not.  Any high end QB likely would not have managed any better, maybe worse.

But in 2020, we are where we are and Wentz is what he is.  If you take a brilliant 10 year old, tear the pages out of his textbooks, put him in a horrible school, and make him focus on his acting career...chances are you'll have a moron by the time he turns 22.  If you have a $800 bottle of wine and leave it in a 120 degree warehouse for the summer, then put it in your wine cellar, that bottle will be worse than your properly stored garden variety red blend.  What I'm getting at is that the Eagles are actively ruining Wentz and we can already see the results.  I don't know if we've passed the point of no return, but we are getting there.  We've got a 27 year old QB who cannot make multiple reads from the pocket, cannot release the ball quickly, cannot consistently make mechanically solid and accurate throws.  And I guarantee you; he's been forced to play this way for long enough that the switch won't magically go back on when he gets weapons and a better OL...just as that sour wine won't taste right and that 22 year old wont magically have a college education.

Ridiculous. As was seen on Sunday, get him some talent he'll be fine. Wentz isn't a bottle of wine.

I don't think Hightower should get basted for that bomb. Would have probably landed out of bounds there anyway, as ball was slightly off target. Subtle push by DB to Hightower's buttocks threw the whole play off. DB should get credit there more than anything. This guy needs reps and good coaching and could be straightened out in long run. 5th round pick looks playable here in due time, IMO. He will hit on one of these bombs eventually and the narrative will change. Needs to still get on same page with Wentz overall.

I do. Pretty damn tough to "cradle catch" an over the shoulder throw. It's why God gave you hands. Catch the ball higher and earlier then dead leg and that's a touchdown. Receivers do it all the time across the league.

Another thing to note while discussing the Hightower miss is that Wentz doesn't throw a very catchable deep pass. The idea is to throw the ball really high and have it drop in like a rainbow. Wentz's deep passes aren't as pretty. Less touch. Wentz tends to wait too long to throw it, and then doesn't have enough time to throw a rainbow.

Watch a little more "film" on Wentz and see what you think of his "rainbow" throws. One week it's "Wentz needed to throw that deep pass on a rope" The next week it's "he needed to put more air under it". If the freaking ball hits the receiver in the hands Wentz did his job. He's not out there pushing x-box buttons.

Already cut 2 draft picks from 2020.  Nice.

Weird, I though Howie wouldn't allow draft picks to be cut this soon because of his ego.

Its disappointing because they did this for Vinny Curry.

I love Vinny Curry, but this is an Esgles failure any way you slice it

What if you slice it that Toohill sucks?

You know, during the end of the Andy years I was like this, so much so that my friends told me to dial it back or don't come watch the games with them anymore.   I was just too negative and took the joy out of it for them.  Do as you wish, but like your analysis of Wentz, stay in this frame of mind too long the sour wine will won't magically turn sweet.  Habits of the mind don't switch off and on simply.

Thats some circular logic there

If hes good enough to get claimed, why did we cut him?  And if hes bad enough to cut after 5 weeks, why did we draft him?

1.) Wasteam needed a d-end and took a chance. 2.) Drafting is always 100% for all the other teams, right?

Yes, we know we are in the muck and grime when people bemoan this type of move.  Now, keeping JJAW over Watkins, that could be cause for consternation.

If Vinny can play at the least he is a stout run defender who will play responsibly.  Plus he grew up an Eagles fan.

It's true.  It was a good throw after moving in the pocket to create time.  Not an easy catch, not an easy throw, but we've seen it completed many times.

Yup.  That ball to Hightower was a rainbow, easily evidenced by it landing less than a yard out of bounds... from 60+ yards away.  The only way he could do that is with a rainbow.

Another point about the Hightower miss: when you have a defender on your back, as he did, you can slow down. He can't go through you and you can extend your arms for the catch without him being able to reach the catch point. What Hightower did was give the defender a chance to make a play.

Aint this this truth.

Should be an interesting game tonight. Both teams coming off a loss and the Bills got embarrassed.

A 45-42 score wouldn't surprise me at all

Maybe the Dolphins can sign Bell and release Howard.  I'd love to have him back here on some short deal.  The back up running back situation is such an underrated blunder this year.

I don't know about being a "blunder"  but we could sure use some help there

I started watching this and after hearing Jaworski criticize Wentz, I remembered how much Jaworski SUCKED in the Super Bowl loss to. the Raiders.

image.png.be0f29d3bcc782ec9ec0de31041bf68f.png

I don't think he said anything that Wentz himself wouldn't admit. He also had criticism about some other parts including Gerry and the defense as a whole. Didn't agree with him about the pass that we discussed in here yesterday but felt it was a pretty good watch
