Right.  Because 7th round draft picks are known to be "pro-bowlers". <_<

A mid-late 7th round draft pick is essentially an UDFA that a team really likes and doesn't want to compete with other teams in terms of signing him, etc.

I don't think trading Ertz would be a "seller" move at this point. Need to kill the BS 2 TE offense; team is way more efficient out of 11.

It was a seventh round pick. The average lifespan of a seventh round pick is less than one full year in the NFL. I’m all for bashing a GM for a bad pick but when it’s a seventh round pick the likelihood that guy even makes it one year in the league on your team is very minimal. You were just trying to throw something against the wall and seeing if it sticks in the seventh round. Shockingly the Eagles have actually been pretty successful with 7th rounders considering they have mailata and Jalen mills still in the league as seventh round picks. This isn’t exactly a Clayton Thorson or Pumphrey type of pick

that has nothing to do with Curry though and late draft picks usually do get cut

No, I would take that deal in a heart beat .I want to get rid of ertz so bad, I'd take less than that deal was my point.

and no, rumors/reports/experts suggested Ertz to NE for a 2 and a 5 with us sending back a 6 or 7.

But realistically, what can you get for Ertz right now? 5th?

Baltimore traded Hurst is only two years younger and far less accomplished with a 4th and got a 2nd and a 5th. Patriots traded a 2nd for an old and washed up Sanu at the deadline. Teams will trade more than just a 5th for a skill player.

I can’t see Brandon brooks not being back next year. His Number is 14.5 million if you try to release or trade him it’s 13 million in dead money prior to June 1st then you get more cap. I think he’s locked in for 2021. But 2022 there’s a chance he is not here his cap number is around 17.5 mill and you can create 8 1/2 million by releasing him

I would hope that he would be willing to "renegotiate" his deal.  But that will likely depend if he (or his agent) thinks they can get that type of money in free agency.

Difference is hurst is on a rookie contract and not asking for big money like ertz. That factors into this. I think that hurts you in negotiations.

I think he would be willing to restructure his contract. Especially if they gave him more guaranteed money considering the injuries he’s had. I’m not so sure with his injuries over the last couple years and him getting older that you want to do that

OTOH, a cigar creates a zone of stench around the smoker that is hard to penetrate. Might as well burn the clothes you're wearing afterwards 'cause you'll never get the smell out.

Not true

I mean, he's the best at what he does if he can stay on the field.  The issue is, he hasn't been able to stay on the field...so I would think (or hope) he will be willing to take a little less money, etc.

It's going to come down to a team that thinks they are "ready" to get to the next level this year and really need a TE.  What top 10 teams really need a TE right now?

Off the top of my head that could use a tight end: Seattle (have Olson he looks cooked), Packers (Tonyan looks good though— depends on if you trust him to continue it), buffalo, New England, Colts, Cardinals, bears if you think ertz is a big upgrade over graham.

Well, as a cigar smoker you should recuse yourself because your sense of smell has already been shot to hell.:smoke:

I'm sure the Bears/Foles would love to get him

New England, Steelers, Bills, Be curious to see how the Saints really feel about Cook,  Same feeling with Seattle/Olsen(think theyre tight on the cap though)

My number 1 landing spot... Titans.

Why they have Jonnu smith who they love and is young.

Other than you sitting out with me on my back deck you would never know I smoke cigars.

Yep, and I think(with out looking it up) the titans love 12 personal more than the Eagles.

What better person to bring in.

Considering neither are good blockers and they like to run the ball with Henry it’s a redundancy of what you have. The reason why they use 12 personnel so much was last year the average 4.4 yards per carry out of it. This year they’re down to 2.9 yards per carry. They want a tight end that can block. They’d be actually better off trying to trade for a speed threat to be opposite Aj brown

Nah.  You're confusing cigarette smokers with cigar smokers.   Sense of smell/taste is one of the most important things when smoking a good cigar.  Without it, they aren't very enjoyable.

Cigarette smokers lose their sense of smell and taste because they inhale the smoke, which numbs the smell/taste receptors in your nose, etc..  Cigar smokers don't inhale (or they shouldn't)...so they generally keep very good senses of taste and smell.

I used to smoke cigarettes and the first thing I noticed after I quite is that I could actually "taste" and "smell" better.  And that I was actually able to "enjoy" a cigar since I was able to pick up all the gentle transitions in taste, etc.

High end cigar smoking is comparable to drinking a fine glass of wine.  They typically get better with age and folks that have been smoking them for a while can pick up a myriad of "flavor profiles" for certain cigars, etc.

Cutting Toohill stings because he apparently showed something in camp. Him being a seventh-round pick is no big deal. It’s just a head start on signing UDFAs.

Oh dont worry we piss away plenty of 2nd and 3rd round picks, so I guess its no big deal if we start doing it with all of them

Its not like our starting LT is a 7th rounder or anything

And its not like we literally just had to rely on our day 3 picks to salvage our draft or anything (minus Toohill now, or course)

This.

I would have preferred to keep Toohill because if his athletic ability and his potential...but not because he was a "7th round pick".

Disagree

Arthur Smith is ok working with 12 and passing the ball more(see the buffalo game). But I also listed like 7 other teams so fine, forget about the titans lol

They are struggling to run the ball out of 12 personnel this year. 2.9 yards per carry from 4.4 the season before So you think they’re going to add another tight end that’s not a great blocker?

how are you gonna disagree they don’t need to speed on the outside? Currently they have Cory Davis and AJ Brown on the outside. Neither one of those guys is a big-time speed threat. You get a deep threat on the outside that will open up much more for 12 personnel run and play action

Bro, he was a 2+ year project who is just now starting to perform well.

And I tend to agree, that Toohill could have potentially taken the same course but that's a different story.  You should be upset that he had "potential" but not because we "wasted a 7th round draft pick".
