Jamon Brown will start at RG, per Doug.

Driscoll will start at RT and Slay will play. He has been cleared.

Cowboys schedule gets much easier and ours gets harder.

Plus I dont think your going to see a HUGE drop off from Dak to Andy

Cowboys 9-7

Eagles 5-10-1

Redskins 3-13

Giants 2-14

I agree.  I think Dalton can be a very productive player for the Cowboys.  He wasn't trash for the Bengals and he didn't have anywhere near the talent he does now.

We'll see.  Carson wasn't great against the Steelers but he showed some things that make you think he could carry this dump of a team on his back.

More proof that Fletch aint the problem.

Interesting that both cox and Malik Jackson have around same rate of double teams.

Seems like Schwartz could take advantage of that by sending an extra blitzer more often.

Yup.   Wentz hasn't been good.   But, playing musical chairs with his WRs, and now with the OL too... that doesn't make it an easier on the guy.  I'd like to see the list of QBs in the NFL that have had to deal with that many different targets in that short a span.

As I say all the time, an inaccurate pass is inaccurate whether it's thrown to Quez Watkins or Larry Fitz.  PS level receivers are not the cause of sailed screen passes, worm burners and unguided missiles, but this is always going to be a you say Tomato argument.

Can you imagine this place if we drafted another luxury tight end in the state this team is in? I love KP but I would be pissed.

If ertz is traded with a team that runs so much 12 a solid 2nd TE Is a must.

Question I have is can he run block? If not I want no part of him.

Ertz not being able to run block contributes to the ineffectiveness of 12 personnel.

You don't honestly think the Eags will draft a LB in the first do you?

They need to. I'd say MLB is the biggest need on the current roster. That and DE.

Yikes, nothing about Singleton shows me that he has the skill set to spy Jackson.

Let's bring back Killins

I feel like we've had to run so much 12 personnel the last two years because our receivers were garbage and we had 2 TEs. And you're right, it doesn't work half as well as they thought it would.

They should move away from using 12 so much

Gerry's a place holder until Bradley and Taylor are ready. A criticism one might level at our coaches is their sticking too long with veterans over more talented rookies. I think that criticism is misplaced but i can understand it. Play a guy before he's ready and you can ruin him permanently.  Some guys are tough enough to overcome early failure; others are not. Vaitai was, for example, but Winston Justice was not. Driscoll looks like he may become a player. He's scrappy. And I'm excited about Mailata's future. Then there are guys who plateau. Pryor is one of those, it appears.

On defense you can really see which players are not mentally ready when they blow assignments over and over. The Rams took those guys out behind the woodshed and beat them unmercifully.

With Edwards out, hard to replace Gerry’s alleged smarts with Taylor’s green because Edwards wears the green dot.  That said, as Sheil pointed out, the fact Edwards (and McLeod) left D in Quarters when the Steelers went empty is just dumb.

Sure a player can lose confidence getting roasted but they can lose confidence sitting too much too.  Packages.  My question is how are Singleton’s smarts. He won defensive player of the game in the Grey Cup and two all pros in the CFL.  I would be tempted to play him and Taylor with TJ, when he returns from IR.  Let Gerry sit and restore his confidence.

Are you coming around to Driscoll as a swing everything kind of player, including RT?

If we never ran 12 personnel again it would be too soon.

1996 west coast, dink and dunk sh!t.

Yup. It makes sense that Doug would be so enamoured with 12.

When he was in green bay under holmgren they ran a lot of 12 with chumura and bubba franks and who ever else.

Then Reid took doug with him from Green bay and Reid played a fair amount of 12 as well.

Going back looking at holmgren in Seattle he played a fair amount of 12 as well.

Even rhodes in Philly with dunn west jimmy johnson played alot of twelve.

Where as the league even Reid in KC has moved further away from 12 and into 11 personnel and multiple WR and empty sets.

If Ertz could actually run block 12 might be more effective yet he's so useless at run blocking that he's basically just a big slow slot WR in 11.☹️

Ertz not being able to run block contributes to the ineffectiveness of 12 personnel.

Ertz lack of ability to make dynamic YAC plays also contributes to the ineffectiveness.  You can single him up and know he is not getting any yards after the catch.

I'm confused with the Eagles and Opeta. They protect him at all costs and have been carrying him for almost 1 and half seasons now, but completely avoid playing him at all costs, even when injuries are decimating the lines. He's been playing football since 10, so I don't know how much of a he's a raw project excuse you can use. Jamon Brown doesn't do much for me, why not play Opeta?

It’s a need for sure, but the reason it’s a need is because this team doesn’t value linebackers too highly. Part of the reason it’s unlikely they draft one in round one anytime soon.

I would put Parks on Andrews, Slay on Brown and use Singleton to spy Jackson. I would also bench Gerry in favor of Bradley, but that seems so unlikely I shouldn't even mention it.

I think I'd activate Davion Taylor to spy Jackson.   Speed on speed.   Let his natural instincts go.  All he needs to do is stay between Jackson and the goalline... no other responsibility.   Box and 1 Defense.... basketball style.

You defend him like you did Vick, mush rush  and ,dont let your ends up field.

Not sure you can take one guy from the defense to do nothing but spy lamar, they have too much other talent.

No. That would be too innovative for Jim. He will spy him with Gerry.

An inaccurate pass looks more inaccurate if the ball is thrown where the guy was supposed to be, but wasn't.  Wentz has missed and missed badly at times.   He's also had his receivers run the wrong routes or just mistiming.  But, you have made up your mind a long time ago about who the problem is.  I recognize that Wentz has had issues, but he's also been dealing with a lot of issues.  And not having chemistry with your WRs is a big issue.  Its why Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison/Reggie Wayne worked out so much in the offseason... so that they could anticipate each other.  Its why teams with long time QBs and long time receivers do so well together, and its why so many free agent WRs struggle with their new teams compared to what they were signed to bring.  They don't have the chemistry with their QB.  That takes TIME to develop.

I think Jim gets a bad rap for lack of innovation.  He innovates in some ways, not in others.  I am curious to see what this team does defensively on Sunday though.  I think Jackson struggles when he's shown something he's never seen before...and I would force him to throw the ball at all costs, even though our secondary is weak.   I'd have 4 coming on every play, with a spy and maybe a 6th guy that comes from different spots every down, so he never knows where to expect it.  Keep everyone near the LOS, so that the quick passes are disrupted, and let the front eat... disciplined but aggressive in their rush lanes.

Yup, if one throws Ertz a 3 yard pass he gets 3 yards, throw him a 10 yard pass he gets 10 yards.☹️
