It’s a need for sure, but the reason it’s a need is because this team doesn’t value linebackers too highly. Part of the reason it’s unlikely they draft one in round one anytime soon.

True.

I can't see them drafting LB 1st round and over the years they've drafted a few in the 2nd round

Heck Reid and Johnson's first draft Barry gardner was a second rounder, second eagles pick after Mcnabb

Mccoy 2nd rounder, Kendricks.

Even in 2017 they had solid LB play,Bradham a mid level FA hicks a 3rd rounder then Kendricks a 2nd rounder.

It's one thing to not value LB as much as other positions but to devalue it to the point they have this year has clearly been detrimental.

You defend him like you did Vick, mush rush  and ,dont let your ends up field.

For whatever history is worth, the Eagles have always seemed to defend running QBs well.

I think I am going to dedicate today to things Zach Ertz can not do.

I'm confused with the Eagles and Opeta. They protect him at all costs and have been carrying him for almost 1 and half seasons now, but completely avoid playing him at all costs, even when injuries are decimating the lines. He's been playing football since 10, so I don't know how much of a he's a raw project excuse you can use. Jamon Brown doesn't do much for me, why not play Opeta?

Yup.

Opeta played LT in college and is a guard in NFL.

Not sure why he doesn't get a shot.

One would think the coaches think highly of him as they keep protecting him and what not, not sure why no snaps???

Brown I think will be an upgrade over Pryor which isn't saying much but why not give opeta a look

You guys who want to trade Ertz for picks are the same folks who say the Eagles are a terrible drafting team

Which i agree with BTW

Everybody's soo worried about starting a QB controversy because of the investment, that they're letting Wentz get away with playing like Bobby Hoying. Kevin Kolb had better games. And what about Jalen Hurts? Do you think he'd like to use the prospect of starting a QB controversy as fuel to ball out? I say now is the perfect time to give the man an opportunity to save the season. If Hurts struggles, what are you worried about? Can Carson come back playing worse?

Will they do to Hurts what Andy did to Nick Foles?

Ironically, Ertz was one of this team's best draft picks.

Super Bowl, losing by 1, so they need the TD - because we all know that Brady will get the FG at the end... 4th and a long 1 on their own side of the 50... Eagles turn to... Zach Ertz to convert.  And he does.   3rd down, in the red zone, gotta have the TD.  Eagles design a play to get him matched up ONE on ONE with a CB... they get him the ball, he gets into the end zone and the end result is:

philadelphia-eagles-tight-end-zach-ertz-

So, while you can whine and complain and whatever else about Zach Ertz... without him, the Eagles don't get this... the thing that you were all whining and complaining that you'd never live to see.

Shut up now.   He may have had his best seasons behind him now.  He may not be the player he once was... but when he was at the top of his game, he was damn good.  And while he may not have been the flashiest guy, he was the guy that this team leaned on in their most critical moment over the last 60 years.  Show some respect.

I think most would concede Ertz can catch wide open tds in the end zone or catch lots of passes with minimal yac.

What is being said is that that skill doesn't make up for the things he doesn't do that other TEs can and do, like block get yac and make highly contested catches.

I appreciate what Ertz did in the past, he's been a really good big slot receiver.

Having said that I don't respect what he's done this year, it's laughable that he thinks he deserves kittle kelce money, he's not those guys and the videos above show it. His play this year has been uninspired and disgusting to watch. Im not going to give him a pass because of what he did 3 seasons ago.

Why are you so impatient with Wentz when the guy in your avatar gave the Eagles shoddy QB play for a much longer period?

WTF does one have to do with the other? Count Buddy Ryan's wins as HC with other teams. Oh wait. Randall went on to go 15-1 with the Vikings. Just saying.

Cant wait till we run a long developing play, everyone on here cause it a "great play call" but ends up in a snack because we have left overs on our Oline

What you lack in knowledge you more than make up for it with self-assuredness and ignorance. It’s amazing.

There's calling him out for not producing this year... but that's not what I see happening in here.  I see a full-on bash of Zach Ertz.  The 'things he can't do'... those are things that he never did, and yet... was still highly productive and a fine part of this team for a long time.  He said he wanted to get paid, and he's having a down year... along with the rest of the team.   I get the 'trade him' talk, and calling out effort, but let's not act like he's never done anything of value or made any big plays, he's made plenty over the years.

Because Wentz has played better in each successive game this season.  If you think he’s still playing at the same level he was against WASH and LAR, you’re wrong

it's about consistency. Kevin Kolb had more.
