Well, that certainly suggests that Gerry is not the worst LB in football.

That, or it suggests our coaching staff can't identify and/or accept that he's the worst LB in football.

I'd bet money on the latter.

John Hightower continues to get open consistently.  I think "we're fine there" rolling with Reagor/Fulgham/Hightower/Watkins as our top 4, Goedert as our top TE, and throw in Ward and JJAW also for the rest of this year and next year.  That means get rid of Ertz, Jackson, and Alshon for whatever we can get asap.

No need to force more picks at WR.  We have massive holes elsewhere we need to address.

I think Hightower can develop into a good player. He needs to put on some strength and lose some of the fear of contact.  He also needs to work on how to turn his hands the right way based on where the pass is thrown.  Mike Quick mentioned that.  Moorehead needs to coach him up hard.

Rewatching the offense against Pittsburgh. A couple of things I noticed in the first half...

* Hightower really is kinda crappy tracking the deep ball. There was one that was slightly overthrown, but I think Hightower tracked it too vertically and at the last minute had to change directions slightly. If he took the correct route, I think he had a chance to catch it. The more I watched the one to end zone late in the second quarter, I think that should have been a TD. At first I thought it was difficult for him slow up and gather himself. Now, I think he had enough time to turn around and catch the ball in bounds. The ball landed just beyond the end zone. I’m not sure Wentz could have thrown it better.

* On JJAW’s meaningless catch as the clock ran off, Fulgham was open down the seam for a walk-in TD due to a coverage bust. I get why Wentz threw it to JJAW. His route was toward the sideline, so he was ahead on the progression.

There weren’t any designed rollouts or plays to get Wentz out of the pocket. I didn’t notice any complaints, and my guess is because we scored 29 points against an elite defense. It was also Wentz’s best game of the year (PFF graded him out as the No. 4 QB I believe).

I suspect the lack of rollouts I’d something to do with Pittsburgh loving nickel blitzes as well as their use of five-man lines.

Bell signed with the Chiefs for just 1.7M. Must be the biggest disparity in contract totals within 18 months ever?

We definitely could have used him over Clement and Scott for that price.

They aren't the same high flying offense this year.

He wasn’t going to come to Philadelphia because he wants to win a title. There’s no way he’s going to choose the Eagles over the Chiefs if it was about winning a Super Bowl. It’s an added bonus that he fits their system and ceh Hasn’t been great over the last couple weeks in the red zone

Spot on. The Chiefs are the go to team right now. They've looked pretty strong this year and look like a pretty good bet to go deep in the play offs. Bell could be a huge factor in that.

Peters is better than is Pryor at RG.

I concede that it is a low bar.

What makes you say that?  We never saw him play at RG.

No thanks, unless he is going to take a pay cut to play RG

Exactly

I didn't complain per se, but had a post on how it helps him get comfortable and, of course, he's really good at it and 70% of  the time produces a positive play without turning the ball over.  Its the same principle as the main complaint this week: why make a guy like Gerry cover when he can't?  Coaches call the plays and they should do whatever they can to.call the plays that their players excel at not the ones they don't.

Nah.  Bell is a tool.

Besides, he was never going to come here.  He's not searching for money, he's searching for a ring.  But, I think the money is irrelevant.  He got his full salary guaranteed once he was on the roster for Week 1.  So, the money isn't really a major part of the equation.

But to be fair it's nice to see him go to a legit contender rather than taking the money option.

I think he’s searching for money more than a ring.  I think he wants to put up the best numbers possible in that offense (wait until he discovers ARs approach to the running game) so that he can cash in this offseason.

I think it’s still all about the money.

Maybe.  Its not about the money for this year though.  He already got that from the Jets.

No it’s not...I think he’s just playing the long game for more money at the advice of his agent.

Anyone wanna take bets they play him at LT?

I don't think they are that stupid, but you never know.

Anyone (and you know who you are) who said the WR corps would be upgraded this year with Desean returning from injury should be embarrassed.

Hehe, when did he return?

Jackson, Reagor, Fulgham could be pretty nice.  Its only a question of how many games we will ever get out of Jackson.

Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson are officially, by the literal definition, wastes of roster spots.

Alshon will have missed the 1st 6 weeks of the season and could have been on PUP.  Desean will have missed 3 consecutive weeks and should have been placed on IR.  You can return unlimited players from IR and they may return after 3 weeks.

We've got players getting claimed off waivers and producing for other teams, yet we waste our own roster spots with guys that cannot dress (Jeffery, Jackson) or guys that will never play (JJAW).

The coaches should have told Desean that if he can't go this week (and he's already ruled out), that he's going on IR.  3 weeks from now, he can come back, play a game, and go back on IR.
