JV squad 3

That’s wrong.  He has 33” arms.  Jason Peters has 33.13” arms. That .13 makes all the difference?  While the preference is 34” arms, 33 isn’t ridiculously short.  I am not a huge fan of PFF and this study is a little dated but it is worth noting.

https://www.pff.com/news/does-arm-length-affect-ot-play

He doesn’t have monster arms like Mailata or Johnson and his wingspan is five inches less than Lane’s, but his ten yard split is right up there close to Lane’s.  He has nice speed, close to JP’s Combine and similar strength.  He does need about 15-20 pound weight gain.  BTW, Dillard has 33.5” arms.  So does Wanogho.  I think the Eagles will sacrifice an inch or inch and a half in arm length for quickness like Dillard and Driscoll.   I don’t see Driscoll as a starting RT, but rather a swing T and more likely a G.    The measurables closest to Driscoll are Isaac Seumalo, who is also a jackknife.  That is the role I see for Driscoll.  Frankly, I thought he was drafted for when Ike moves to C.  Short are Kelce’s at 32.5” or Luke Juriga at 30 5/8”. (Still an inch longer than A. Q.Shipley, who had a decent career.). BTW, Opeta is similar in measurables to Driscoll and Ike.  Nate Herbig is Brandon Brooks sized but he is slow compared to Brandon.  Phone booth guy compared to a sub 5.0 guy.  Then, if you want monster arms, there is Matt Pryor.  Matt makes Nate look like Usain Bolt.  He struggles with his weight and I think the Eagles thought they could whip him into shape.  They succeeded with Dillard and even Herbig but Matt remains a tub of lard.  Watching clips from camp, I swear I saw Garbage Can outpace him.

Honestly, I still see his future at C after Kelce.

Baltimore's now without two of their starting DL. Wolfe and Williams. That'll give our JV o-line a chance at least.

It pisses me off that Carson no doubt can play better. This is actually what happened to Nick Foles. New wife, new kid. And all of a sudden, new expectation from a city that just paid you a king's ransom. He's got to get his mind straight. Nick is getting his QB career back together now that his family life has stabilized. But that could take a year or 2. We don't have that. We have to motivate Wentz now. At some point before the season is lost and Carson is still off his game I say sit him.

In Foles' rookie season Andy thew him to the dogs with no hope of salvaging the season. Foles played well, but it hardly went noticed and he still had to beat out Vick the following July. I'd like to see Jalen Hurts get a chance to be the hero. Of course as bad as we're playing, the season is NOT lost, thus giving 11 some time to change my opinion. But being this bad, the season can be lost pretty quickly though.

I don’t. I do think they will train him as such.  I think Ike moves in to C.  I think they continue to develop Driscoll, who will either be a swing player like Ike was when he first played or play LG.   I think they want to see if Juriga can overcome his short arms and play a back up C/G role but most likely will develop Herbig to the back up inside player role.  For such a slow, phone booth kind of guy, Herbig has pretty solid footwork. If you look at pictures of Herbig from 2019 and 2020 camp, you can see that he worked on his physique.  I doubt he is ever faster than 5.20 but I bet he isn’t Combine 5.40 guy anymore.  (Pryor looks like he would struggle to beat his 5.60 Combine forty). Juriga is interesting because despite his short arms and not particularly great measurables, at Western Michigan he was very good at getting to second level blocks, something they have missed in the run game with Herbig and Pryor.  Really disappointed Opeta hasn’t risen to the opportunity (or the coaching staff hasn’t given him the opportunity).  If it wasn’t Stout, I might think it was the latter.

Wow. Those numbers are crazy. Hopefully Miles gets more touches than he has been. Take some pressure off Wentz

But I doubt they faced an OL like the Eagles will start this Sunday.

With Epps out, who is the back up high safety (weak and free are a bit outdated).  Parks?  Assume Wallace is still the up safety. Is Riley his back up?

I would guess Riley can do it, but his primary position in TC was slot corner and I think his callup is for ST only. Parks has played some deep safety in Denver, but usually in a two deep safety formation.

My guess is that if McLeod and Parks were both unavailable, Mills would be thrown back there and James would play corner.

Epps sucks. Not sure why they even start that scrub

Over the last 2 years, the collective wisdom of the Eagles' coaches, GM, and training staff thought it wise to pay Jason Peters, Desean Jackson, and Darren Sproles a total of nearly $36m...but felt that DK Metcalf was too high risk from an injury/durability perspective to invest a 2nd round pick.

Think about that for a second.  This is who is in charge.

Yep, you and I think a lot on a lot of things, especially when it comes to roster management.  This is maddening.

I'm actually nervous that they might put JP back at LT when he comes back and put Mailata back on the bench.

Don't forget they also drafted a corner who had just had surgery to repair a torn achilles without any knowledge on how he would recover.

I asked Kempski about this possibility in one of his chats during training camp and he dismissed the idea in a way that made it seem like he thought it was the dumbest thing he had ever heard.

But to me it makes perfect sense. Our safeties can't play effectively near the LOS. Taylor has the size and speed to do it, plus it's the role he played in college.

Last week was definitely on Defense (Not the front 4 but Secondary).  I think the Offense played the best they did all year which is why that was the most points we've scored all year.   We had the Steelers too, but they let that rookie go off.  Travis had an amazing game and I hope we can build on that.   Now we have the Ravens.  Look this was the hardest part of the early schedule.   I'm hoping Defense can bounce back this game.   Lamar is not easy to contain but it can be done.  Also Welcome back to the Linc fans.

IF they do that... I will immediately call for the firing of the entire organization - from Smolinski on down.  And I might even start a petition to demand Lurie sell the team.

If they are that stupid, then I also will likely not watch another game this season.  Because it would be more aggravating than it would be enjoyable.   Peters is washed... 100% washed.   He proved while he was out there that he sucks now.  Its a shame to say it, but he's stayed too long.  He should have retired, and they should have let him.  Bringing him back when Brooks went down was a desperation move.  Mailata has looked far better than Peters did this year.  Peters needs to either go back to RG with an appropriate drop in salary, or he needs to just be IR'd to protect his reputation and placate his ego.  He should NOT be put back in at LT unless no one else on the roster is available.
