I don't know if it's because the Eagles are sucking, Covid, or the political BS this year but i'm having a hard time getting excited about watching the NFL. Not just Eagles games, but ANY games.

I'm the same way.  I said it earlier in the year.  My interest level has never been lower.  I haven't watched a down of NFL football outside of the Eagles and only see a highlight or 2 via social media.  I just don't care.  My Sunday routine used to be getting to my parents house early so I could watch pre-game live around 11:00.  Get some sort of food treat for the game and then watch the Eagles followed by post-game live and a late game.  I'd get home make sure I had the Sunday Night game on TV.  Used to be the minute the Eagles go to break I switch to the CBS game or RedZone but now I just talk to my family, check my phone.  The thing that sucks is I don't even miss watching other games.

That sucks dude.  Hope I don't catch what you have.

This is the last thing I want to hear.  The Eagles were healthier and better last year and he tried to improve the team by trading for Avery.  The year prior it was Golden Tate.  Neither of those trades worked and the teams the Eagles fielded were miles ahead of where this team is now.  This tells me that for starters, Howie is not learning from past mistakes and secondly, they have this delusion that the Eagles are better than they are.

This team is in no position to be buyers at the deadline.  We don't have the draft capital to part with.  We don't have the cap space to extend an expiring contract.

The only way this would be a good thing is if Howie is looking at player for player trades.  Cox and Ertz might bring back a mid-tier linebacker.

I would much rather see this team load up on picks.  The more picks we have the more likely the chance Howie actually hits on one.

I agree completely, but I'd also point out that this is just a speculative report.

The way they have managed the roster this year from weeks 2 through now honestly suggests they aren't trying to win.  They are shuffling the practice squad call ups and not signing vets with experience.  I'm fine with that in a year like this, but it doesn't really look like they are trying to max out their roster this year at all.  So a trade for a band-aid would surprise me.

The biggest counterpoint to that is cutting another 2020 draft pick to bring Curry back onto the roster.  They didn't do that with an eye on the future.

Eagles play short game, running and quick routes.  Chew up clock and hope for D to get a turnover or two.  Maybe they can sneak a win. 20-17.

Think the Rams gave us a beat down...

Twice a year

@In2football

I have no idea why I think the Eagles will win this game. The Ravens are better at pretty much every position yet this just seems like the type of game of every year that the Eagles pull out just like GB last year. It also helps the Ravens are missing some key guys.

Eagles 28

Ravens 24

There are 3 games, thus 4 possibilities (excluding ties), for the trade deadline.  1-6-1, 2-5-1, 3-4-1, 4-3-1.

1-6-1 speaks for itself.  At 2-5-1, presumably with a win against the Giants, they'd already be down one head to head against the Cowboys.  I don't see any way Howie buys.  He's not that stupid and I'd hope Lurie wouldn't let him.

If they go 2-1 or better, he might buy.  That 11/1 primetime Dallas game is really the season.  They figure to be 2-4-1 heading into it.  Win, and they are division favorites.  Lose, and just play for the pick.

I asked Kempski about this possibility in one of his chats during training camp and he dismissed the idea in a way that made it seem like he thought it was the dumbest thing he had ever heard.

But to me it makes perfect sense. Our safeties can't play effectively near the LOS. Taylor has the size and speed to do it, plus it's the role he played in college.

Kempski’s not happy unless he’s snarky.

That’s wrong.  He has 33” arms.  Jason Peters has 33.13” arms. That .13 makes all the difference?  While the preference is 34” arms, 33 isn’t ridiculously short.  I am not a huge fan of PFF and this study is a little dated but it is worth noting.

https://www.pff.com/news/does-arm-length-affect-ot-play

He doesn’t have monster arms like Mailata or Johnson and his wingspan is five inches less than Lane’s, but his ten yard split is right up there close to Lane’s.  He has nice speed, close to JP’s Combine and similar strength.  He does need about 15-20 pound weight gain.  BTW, Dillard has 33.5” arms.  So does Wanogho.  I think the Eagles will sacrifice an inch or inch and a half in arm length for quickness like Dillard and Driscoll.   I don’t see Driscoll as a starting RT, but rather a swing T and more likely a G.    The measurables closest to Driscoll are Isaac Seumalo, who is also a jackknife.  That is the role I see for Driscoll.  Frankly, I thought he was drafted for when Ike moves to C.  Short are Kelce’s at 32.5” or Luke Juriga at 30 5/8”. (Still an inch longer than A. Q.Shipley, who had a decent career.). BTW, Opeta is similar in measurables to Driscoll and Ike.  Nate Herbig is Brandon Brooks sized but he is slow compared to Brandon.  Phone booth guy compared to a sub 5.0 guy.  Then, if you want monster arms, there is Matt Pryor.  Matt makes Nate look like Usain Bolt.  He struggles with his weight and I think the Eagles thought they could whip him into shape.  They succeeded with Dillard and even Herbig but Matt remains a tub of lard.  Watching clips from camp, I swear I saw Garbage Can outpace him.

Could see Driscoll at C or LG. I think Herbig would be much better at RG. The LG has to move and pull; the RG has to mash. Driscoll at C between Seumalo and Brooks could work; they could guide him along. As for arm length, it’s pointless to compare anyone to Peters who was preternaturally quick and strong.

Said on Tuesday him and Alshon will miss this week then play vs. the Giants. This avoids them having to bounce back in a short week and now they’ll get an extra 3 days of recovery after their first game back.

They'll likely need an extra 3 weeks.

Shuffling them in and out of the lineup when they inevitably get hurt is only disrupting the chemistry Wentz is trying to build with the future receivers of this team.  I don't want either of them back.  Alshon is cooked.  Desean gets hurt running from the sideline to huddle.  Neither of them will be part of next years offense.  Leave them out.

Definitely better for him to return and go down vs the Giants than for them to be down an active player mid game vs Dallas a week later.  Then at least they’ll have their regulars all dressed for Dallas in Fulgham, Hightower, JJAW, Ward, and Watkins.

Ideally they’ll be smart enough to free up the roster spot and put him on IR next time he gets hurt.

You know they’re going to ease him back in the Giants game. He’ll play maybe 50% of the snaps and look pretty good. Then in the Dallas game when he’s a full go, he’ll pull his hammy in the 2nd series

When's Reagor back?

If we are making a trade i hope it's for a LB, OL, or #2 CB.

I think LB is the biggest immediate need.  Followed by CB.

OL in shambles is holding its own. This other 2 positions don't cut it.

Was just thinking the same thing. Same with Goedert

Should have gotten rid of Desean after his antisemitic remarks. Got off way too easy. The guy is washed up and hasn't played much football in 2 years. Taking up valuable space and don't think is the kind of a leader that he portrays himself to be. Don't like this losing mentality type of cat on my team. I like our young crew of dynamic but raw WR's. They need reps. He shouldn't steal 1 rep from any of them, totally undeserving.

And if we do make a deal, it better be for a younger player who projects to he here for the next 4+ years, not some bandaid.

Just looked up a report via cbssports. It won’t let me paste this to the board.

But it looks like Alshon, Desean, Reagor, Goedert, Seumalo, and Maddox could all be back vs the Giants.

The one year I don't want to be a buyer. Better be someone young who will be here for years. Defense desperately needs a LB. Who would be available?
