As I knew they were going to have to go for 2 I was hoping they would show the same formation and motion as the previous conversion and either run the same play if it is open or another play off the same set.

Yup.  Losing Ertz was big.  How many plays does Jason Croom know?

Calling that timeout though eliminates any chance if they don't get the onside kick.

And it's not exactly like the situation sprang up out of nowhere. You've got plenty of time to think of a play as your offense is moving the ball down the field. Hell, you have all these "assistants but not coordinators" around you, but not one of them can come up with some options to present to you well before we score the TD? To make matters worse, we even burned through the 2 min warning, and yet you still can't come up with something during that time? As a coaching staff, how can you not think ahead a bit and say "Hmmm, if we do end up scoring the TD, this might be a good play to run on the conversion."

It's mismanagement at all levels. Absolutely maddening.

Off topic but my favorite play by play announcer, Doc Emrick is retiring.  I loved the way he could describe how a game was going and his excitement for the game just added so much energy when the games were big.  Bummed by this.

Everyone keeps praising Wentz for playing well for his play with a 3rd string o-line and PS WRs. And rightfully so. However, I can’t get past him looking like crap the first couple games when he had most of his starters.

Wentz is extremely talented and am far from wanting him shipped out of town (like some) but the him keeping it close with scrub players is maybe a little too much praise... need to win ball games. Plain and simple.

Week 1 we were down starting LT and RG.  When that RG is the best guard in football it has an impact.   They lost Seumalo week 2, and then Peters.  Back up lineman have been in and out and moving around.  The offensive line has not been in the ball park of healthy.

The Eagles have enough holes on the roster and needs that anything is on the table in the draft. You're just taking the best players you can get right now.

I agree but I also think fans’ tolerance for Howie not focusing on the strength of the draft is wearing thin.  Last year he did focus on WR some. I would argue in a smaller draft class that Hightower and Watkins would have gone a round earlier.  But missing out on an historic DL draft and RB draft won’t be tolerated again.  Strength of this draft is WRs and DBs.  If he doesn’t draft at least one DB in the first two days it better be because none were an option when our pick was up.   Next year, facing cap hell, Parks and Mills are free agents.  Frankly, I like Wallace and Epps is workable so a S has to fall just right.  But the CBs will be available.

Few recall that he was the Flyers PBP announcer in the late 80s/early 90s.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

Mike Vrabel is outstanding 1. he rushes in 46 late (12th man on D)
2. 33 is WTF
3. penalty for 12men
4. Vrabel fakes upset & brings 46 off
WHY? -penalty stops clock
-time > yds
-knows HOU will score Result: -
w :04 left, TEN scores tying TD -
move saved 40 seconds & won game

I haven't seen any updates on any of them. I don't think you can expect any of them for this week's game though.

Yup.  He took over right after Gene Hart.

I didn't realize that. I'm used to Jim Jackson and Bill Clement with Therian on the boards.  They are a decent announcing team.  I love Marc Zumoff, just a shame the product on the court sucks.  Doc was just so good.  He can build anticipation with his calls.  Man I love hockey.

Yup, they basically went from Hart to Emerick and then to JJ. It's kind of crazy who we've had the pleasure of listening to call the games for all the sports teams over so many years. We truly are spoiled in that regard.

Yea, we've had it good.  Will be interesting to see who the Eagles move on to once Merrill hangs them up.  He definitely isn't as sharp as he once was.  Multiple times during a game a running back will gain 7 yards and Merrill says stopped for little to no gain.  He messes up yard lines often.  Mike Quick is a mushmouth and they give him too many sponsors and taglines to say throughout the game.  Still an enjoyable broadcast team to listen too.

The Phillies broadcast team bores me now but I do like hearing Kruk ramble.  He has some John Madden in him with his personal ties to the game and the stories he can tell.

Adam Caplan seems to be keyed in on injuries. From what I recall, here's what he thinks.

Goedert - After the bye.

Lane - Was told he doesn't need surgery, but rest. So maybe by the Cowboys game?

Seumalo - Will likely be a while.

Reagor - Is recovering very well from surgery. Initial thought was November but maybe the Cowboys game?

Pryor - I think the covid list is minimum of 5 days, so should be available for the Giants.

Two you didn't ask about - Peters is likely to play against the Cowboys and DJax should be a go against the Giants in some capacity, until he gets hurt again.

Merrill is definitely past his prime, but I love that guy. He can stay as long as he wants in my mind. When I was a kid and my parents would make me go to bed during MNF, I used to sneak a radio under my pillow to listen to Merrill and Mike call the rest of the game. There's a lot of nostalgia attached to him.

Kalas definitely left a vacuum that really hasn't been filled. I don't know what it is about McCarthy, but he just leaves something to be desired, at least in baseball. I think he's actually decent calling football, though.

Hell, yeah, that's a 'yikes'.  So that's 2 weeks in a row where you had a chance to make a stop and get the ball back to your O for a GW TD drive or tie the game where in a critical situation you fail to call a TO to stop a brutal mismatch that even the mediocre colour analyst called out at least a few seconds before the snap and to come up with a better play than a sandlot whatever the Hell that was because you ran out of RZ plays to run?

That's more than a yikes.  That's Fing alarming.

i want to see what Elijah Holyfield has got at RB. The guy is a fricken monster.

Ridiculously Jacked Elijah Holyfield Picture Was Actually ...

Just cause a guy has big arms doesn't make him a good RB. Though with our backup RB mess, why not give him a shot? Why else is he on the practice squad.

Thanks, Reason I did not ask about Peters and Djax is because even when they do come back, it will be only a matter of plays, not games before they both are hurt again.

I thought Reagos injury was a 4-6 week timeframe? it seems like its been 4-5?

Our offense will get better when We get Lane, Seaumalo, Reagor and Goedert back   Providing no one else gets hurt

That’s a bummer. He’s amazing at what he does and one of the best to ever do it. I usually hate listening to announcers And put games on mute but he was so good that i always listen to him when he did nbc national games.
