Lawrence will stay his senior year at Clemson if the Jets get the first pick. I really think he will. Especially if they don't win a National Championship this year.

When was the last time a presumptive #1 overall pick in the NFL draft went back to college for another year?  I’d guarantee it was before the days of $9M per year

I would have said they had maybe a 20% chance at home against Miami, but the Dolphins are showing some signs of life. They will be large underdogs in every game.

This division is ridiculous.

Just saw that Avery only played 7 snaps on Sunday (10%). Makes zero sense to me.

It really depends if it’s Tua or fitzmagic by then

With the rookie wage scale changes, #1 picks made more money 10-15 years ago than they are now. So it makes even more sense to me now to stay especially given how important their second contract is and put yourself in a better situation. He probably doesn't, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

We are all under the assumption the jets would just take Lawrence. I don’t put it past them to do something like take fields instead.

Well, should we get some players back from injury then we have a really good chance to win this division.  The Cowgirls are trash.  We were down to 2 good teams with 2 very good Ds and we fought back in each game.  The Cowgirls looked like turtles on their backs and just stopped trying to flip over.

Goedert is the most important piece they need back, IMO. Alshon and DeSean do nothing to get me excited. I think Hightower can develop into DeSean's role as the season goes on. He's already shown the ability to get loose deep. Alshon probably can't out-perform Fulgham at this rate if we're being honest.

Great, they will pick 20 and get handled in the first round and not enough changes will be made.

6 games into the season and we're only a half game out of first place... and we've only won a single game... lol

Could ran the Philly special... no one would’ve saw it coming

That's a good point. Why haven't they ran a play like that with hurts and wentz. If you don't wanna take the chance make hurts the one that catches the pass

What makes you think they'll get it right if they pick in the top 5-10?  I'd rather pray for lightning in a bottle, which is exactly what happened at the end of the 2017 season.

It's a lot harder to miss when there is more true talent to choose from. Last two times they picked in the top 10 we got lane and wentz. The "smartest guy in the room" picks come when there isn't sure fire talent at a position they want so they make some off the wall pick like Marcus Smith or Danny Watkins. Those guys aren't even an afterthought in the top 10.

Agreed.  The WRs aren't the spot we need people back as compared to other places now with the emergence of Fulgham.  First the OL of course and then Goedert.  At RB we have to get someone else in there even if it means one of the guys on the practice squad.  We can't go with just Clemons and Scott.

Haha..in all seriousness, I agree with you.  They nailed those 2 picks.  But from reports, they didn't want Lane.  Chip wanted Dion Jordan, and I don't really feel like looking up the source, but they would have gotten that one wrong too.  Lane was a project out of college, and he ended up being the best out of the 3 OL drafted in the top 4 picks.  It was total luck.

Hence one of my major changes. Howie shouldn't be making the picks.

Doesn't change the fact that the hit rate in the top 10 is probably 5x higher than the 20s. You don't draft projects in the top 5, lane was an absolute talent

Andrew Luck, I think.

When Mailata actually learns how to play the position, he might be unstoppable.

I like that extra fire in him, from the fumble... picking up the guy... nah, tossing him aside.

Hokey man that guy's powerful

Some of us in the blog thought Mailata should have been starting at LT in game #1 and not move Jason Peters away from RG.🤐

Had "some of you" based it on how well he plays vs just give the kid a shot it would have been 1 thing.

The more I think about the OL situation, I think there is a good path to take forward here.

This team has enough needs; you don't burn that first round pick on a LT at this point.  Fix something else.

Go into training camp giving Dillard every opportunity to take the LT job.  Mailata is your insurance and continues his development as the swing tackle.  Lane Johnson showed us how symmetrical this league has become and how critical it is to have a RT with LT athleticism.  Mailata's size/strength combined with LT athleticism could make for an incredible RT.

With the OL slaughter this year, they would never move a stud like Lane this offseason.  But if Dillard holds his own early next season and Mailata continues his development, I'd look to move Lane at the 2021 trade deadline.  If Lane stays healthy between his pending return and that trade deadline (he probably won't), he could fetch a very, very nice return.

You have to give up something to get something.  And unlike Desean/Alshon/everyone else we talk about unloading, this is something.

I think a future of Dillard/Mailata as the bookends gives this team a new, youthful window of opportunity.

Wait I thought our depth was horrible thank to Howie? Now it's roll with what we got?

This needs to be stripped away from him.

It’s find out what we have in what we got so we don’t re-address positions in the draft (LT) because, yes, Howie left us with too many other needs.
