The Eagles are by no means a great team, but even with two losses, I don't see how anyone can not be encouraged by the direction they are heading in compared to the first two weeks of the season. They were outmatched and injured against two semi SB contenders but showed heart, never quit, and almost snuck away with two wins. I think they will beat up on the teams during this easy stretch and if they can get some guys back, will be in good shape for the last third of the schedule. You can argue all you want if its good or bad from a long term view, but coaches and players jobs are on the line. They aren't going to tank to get better in a year or two when they may not even be here. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

There's more than enough evidence that Stoutland has a blind spot when it comes to JP.

What gives you the idea that Stout has the final word on who plays and where?

Is that our Al Harris?  One of my favorite hidden gem Eagles of all time.

I dont understand the Browns, I guess this just shows how important good coaching is. They have crazy talent across both sides of the ball and still cant put a complete team together.

They had the most success with Gregg Williams when he took over for Hue Jackson.

It's why I think Gase will stay until the season is over.  The Jets want that #1 pick. If they fire Gase and name Williams HC they might win a few games.

So i should start him in fantasy 🤔

If you guys end up jinxing this kid to be the next Bryce Brown or Ryan moats flash in the pan i will come for you

Any news on Matt pryor returning? I ask cause if he’s out again it’s like brown and Toth at RG and Rt. Not sure there’s a worse combo in the league right now. If pryor plays i hve a feeling he might start at RT. Assuming lane isn’t ready to go

I think we can definitely be encouraged but we also have to be realistic.  The worst thing that can happen is for Howie to become a buyer.  This is still and aging, flawed team.  we can't waste any resources for stopgap players.  Carson was trash to start the season.  I still don't know if he's the franchise but he has certainly shown that he can carry a junk team on his back.  I'm encouraged by some of young players and hope they continue to develop.

Sanders, Goedert, Reagor and Lane will all make this offense a lot better.  Never playing Jamon Brown again is also an upgrade.  I hope they increase the roles of Taylor and Bradley.  I'd rather learn through their mistakes then hitch our wagon to Gerry.  I wish we had young corners to develop but that's just not the case.  I think NRC is a rental for the year, heck maybe he or LeBlanc are trade bait.  One of them should go.  We'll see.  I want a high draft pick but that's not going to happen.  The Eagles are winning this trash heap of a division.

Kind of a weird hire to begin with. He was only an assistant and got fired, then sat out of work for a whole year, then got promoted.

I don't think it was a "blind spot" with regard to JP, Dillard went down and without exhibition games, they couldn't trust Mailata. So JP was really the only option.

Hindsight is 20/20, but Mailata is about as big of a "project" as you can imagine, it's one thing to switch a TE to OT or a DT to OG, but a rugby player to NFL OT? Wow.

Stoutland has done a masterful job so far this season, just look at the Cowboy offense once Martin went down.

Yes, Wentz >> Dalton, but Wentz was throwing to Hightower, Fulgham, Ward, Rodgers, Croom with Scott/Clement at RB, Dalton had Elliott/Pollard, Lamb, Cooper, Gallup,

Eagles put up 29 and 28 against two top defenses, Dallas 3 against Arizona without their best defender.

Doug gave some weird answer about how he'll likely be back but not in time to start?

I don’t usually buy into this social media ra-ra stuff but I buy it with Reagor. He won me over fighting through the shoulder injury and returning before they had forecasted him to. I can’t remember the last time we had a player do that. I also thought he showed good toughness in the Rams game taking some shots. I haven’t given up and conceded that Jefferson will be the better pro than him yet.

I'm ok with being buyers up to a certain extent. Throwing picks for a rental of Tate, no way. Buying a young, cheap, talented player like Ajayi or even Avery, yes but lets do a better job with compensation when it comes to a guy like Avery. If they can obtain quality assets with a few years of cheap control it could help this year and also next when they need it. No aging vets, no rentals, and no premium picks and i'm good.

That was maybe the most BS response ever.  He's a 3rd year pro who has now started NFL games.  I'm pretty sure they all have iPads with the playbook on them.  Zoom conference him in to team meetings.  Have him study the plays at home.  Heck if he can't do that then he shouldn't be in the NFL.  It can't be that hard.  I know there is a day of install every week for the given opponent but my goodness.  If we have to watch Jamon Brown again...

I think I read somewhere that Lane might play Thursday?

We didn't pass on Hardman, the Chiefs jumped us and took him so the Eagles settled for the best blocking WR we've seen since Mack Hollins.

Howie was honest with us, he said he was collecting draft picks for a youth movement, and viola!

His big mistake was nostalgia for 2017, and extended and held on to a number of veterans past their expiration dates, and tried to patch another run together, almost worked for two years (we probably beat Seattle without the cheap hit) but we're going to pay the price the next two years until the cap is cleared.

Another offseason like the last one and this team will have the young, fast players it needs. But that also means growing pains.

Was "nostalgia for 2017" a mistake?  They had put together a winning roster and decided to run with it for a few more seasons.  Makes perfect sense.

The mistakes were within the execution of the plan above.  Didn't draft or develop talent all that well (remember, though, Sidney and Rasul were already aboard by then).  Didn't hit on any FAs.  Didn't successfully replace Reich.  Some unwarranted contract extensions.

How many teams win a SB and immediately start a rebuild?

Jefferson has been really good so far. Not overall surprising because i thought besides jeudy and lamb he was the most pro ready receiver. Additionally i thought he’d be a good receiver in this league but the question would be would he be just average on the outside or good on the outside. So far proving he can play both slot and outside at a high level

but context is also needed. His three big games have come against 32nd, 24th and 17th best pass defenses. And the one against Atlanta (32nd) all of it was in garbage time when they were down 20+ Playing prevent.  Meanwhile When he faced the 3rd and 6th best pass defense he was held to a combined 70 total receiving yards.

in contrast reagor faces the 8th and 10th best pass defenses so far and had 96 total receiving yards. So I’m curious to see how reagor looks against a secondary like Dallas and giants cause he could have some big games in there as well

the two most punchable faces in the NFL are : Sean Payton and Zeke Elliot.  McCarthy is somewhere behind Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Chris Collinsworth, and Tom Brady

Being probably the most talented o-lineman he's ever had to the pleasure of coaching can tend do that.

I think the bigger question becomes will Lane make it through the game. I tend to believe that the reason Pryor isn’t going to start at RG is because if lane leaves they don’t want to have to put toth at right tackle they would just use pryor
