Ok get him in here, we need to have a long drawn-out discussion over this

How dare they debate the term "elite" outside of this Blog?

So there are ONLY 4 QBs who can make that throw but it's STILL not an elite throw?

What's considered elite?

Peters at RG would be an improvement to RG, the problem is he wont stay healthy anyway. ANd no, I'm not taking Mailata off the field. He stays at LT.

I hear that Peters would be an improvement at RG often, but after watching him at LT, I'm not sure I agree.  He honestly just looks washed to me.  No quickness, no ability to sustain blocks, even when he manages to find his target, and struggles to get his body on anyone out in space.  I think its time for him to ride off into the sunset.  He's really not who he was.  And its sad to watch.

As poorly as Pryor played in his last game, I think I'd rather have him out there or even Opeta (flipping Herbig back to RG and playing Opeta at LG) out there learning.  We know that Peters has no future here.   The jury is mostly out on the others still.  I'd rather go with them the whole time, since you know that you'll end up having to go to that well at some point, because Peters will take himself out.  Give me the young and hungry players, rather than the old, broken down and greedy player.   (Yes, I said it.  And I'll stand by it.  Demanding to get paid more to play LT... for 2 games... just a garbage move by him.  He should voluntarily give back some of that money now that he's not the LT, shouldn't he?)

Again, after their last 3 games, I disagree.  San Fran they played ok but got the win.  They had a chance to win against both Baltimore and Steelers and played well in both those games.  These next two games will give us an indication of who this team really is.  I think they are trending up and expect to win the next 2.  Then get some guys healthy after the bye and start pilling up some wins.

The speed is impressive, the diving toward the fake and being way out of position is the tough part to watch.  If he maintains his gap and watches for the option he may prevent the first down.  But we know this is the type of stuff he has to learn

In his defense, all of our linebackers need to learn that.

Oh boy... that was a discussion from years ago in the blog.

Fran thought the issue was Sweat not playing contain, while Taylor’s gap moved because of the pulling guard.

I believe Schwartz confirmed that in his presser.  Didn't say it was Sweat's fault but said Taylor's assignment changed to following the pulling guard so he was doing his job correctly.

I disagree. The Eagles are continuing to improve, as the youngins get playing time. This team can get healthier in time for a p[layoff push. And in the NFC East it's very possible to win the division even in the whole we dug into.

It wont be about the record come playoff time, it will be about what team is healthy and playing well. Especially this year!

There is making a case for the Eagles to lose games because you want their future to be brighter and then there is this.  You seem much more concerned about trying to be right than you do about the Eagles winning.

I was starting to believe he actually care about the team but I am starting to question that.

Thats ridiculous considering we did beat an NFC West team, and also considering that our backups have hung in there in almost every game except for the Rams

No one in the NFC scares me.  No one is running away from the group, and every team is flawed in some way

The Eagles can play with anyone on a good day.  Where they have failed is the critical 2-3 plays per game that have made the difference betweens Ws and Ls.

It’s amazing, the logic that if SF gets somewhat healthy the Eagles have no chance to beat them — yet if the Eagles get somewhat healthy they still have no chance of beating anybody.

You’d have a more fruitful discussion driving to a farm and arguing with a donkey

Dont do it, man

Some people are only happy when they are complaining and offering a dissenting opinion from the masses. It's like your neighbor who always takes the opposite opinion on yours no matter what you are talking about , or roots for the other team during a game at a party even though they dont follow that team,  etc. You know these types.

Multiple 6 seeds have won the Super Bowl... and this year, even the 2 seed is playing on WC weekend.  So, get in the dance and see what you can do.  It is 100% about getting hot at the right time.  I don't expect this team to do much in the playoffs.  This team needs to find more youth and more playmakers moving forward, but I can't root against them for draft position.  I did that once in my youth... and the results weren't good, so why root for losses on gameday to be miserable then, only to be miserable later on as well.

I rooted against Rich Kotite in 1994, he got fired, Eagles drafted 12, only to trade up to 7... passed on Sapp and drafted Mamula.  Nah... I root for wins on gameday.  I wavered on that momentarily earlier this season, because making the playoffs at 5-10-1 would be terrible... but making the playoffs is good.  I am rooting for the young guys to get better and as a result, the team will get better, both in the short term and the long term.

This is it basically. I wait from Feb-September to watch football and cheer for the Eagles. The offseason is fun in it's own way, but incomparable to actual games. Some in these parts seem to enjoy the offseason and team building aspect of the sport more than they do the actual games. To each their own, I suppose.

All of this is why where here today. Ravens fell asleep at the week and the steelers was the prototypical back door cover. This team isnt good.

A good team was healthy against the Redskins and lost to a QB who probably wont play another snap this year. Tied a bad bad bengals team. Good teams dont let that happen.

This is a 10 loss team. Treat them as such.

Healthy vs Skins? What game where you watching. Sanders out, Reagor and Jackson(both not 100%), Brooks, Dillard, Peters and Lane both went out during the game. We were far from healthy.

But either way, you missed my second point. The coaching and scheme is hurting this team. you improve the OC and DC roles and I see 2 more wins, maybe 3 even with these backup players let alone a somewhat healthy team.

EDIT: I forgot, your the Steelers fan. My mistake.

I honestly just don't know what to think of this team right now.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on a win streak but I also wouldn't be surprised to see them lay multiple eggs. At what point to the injuries just become too much to overcome?  I still think there is a severe lack of talent but we are also seeing young guys step up.  With the injuries to the o-line and no viable back-up to Miles Sanders it will be interesting to see if there is any running game whatsoever while he is out.  We also have to keep in mind Dick Rod isn't known for his blocking and he's now the starting tight end.  Is he going to be chipping and helping out the tackles?

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.  Big picture is important though.  Whatever their record is this year they won't be as good or as bad as it really looks.  Howie needs to keep that in mind as he attempts trades and extensions and such.  Changes need to come that's for sure.

Yup.   It could go either way.  But, I just want to see what they can do, and do it with the young guys to bolster the future.  No sense throwing a guy like Peters back out there.

EXACTLY! Well stated.  (God the 90's drafting in the first rd was horrible overall, Harris, Mamula, Bernard WIlliams, Ben Smith, Lester Homes, Leonard Renfro. We kind of hit on Antone Davis and Jermane Mayberry, and Def hit on Tra Thomas, And McNabb.  But thats only a 40% success rate. UGH)

Every Fulgham catch.  The plays that I really like are:

34 seconds- Fitzpatrick just bounces off of him and he gets serious RAC.

52 seconds- catch in traffic, in stride down the middle of the field

56 seconds- sideline catch

1:26- catch/RAC against Ravens

1:32-  WR screen

What stands out to me is he doesn't hesitate to get upfield, has great body control and uses his hands.  One of my gripes with Hightower is that he's a body catcher and he seems to just go down when he catches the ball or when he tries to make a move, he doesn't look elusive at all.  He looks sluggish much like Torrey Smith.  Fulgham plays with a different energy level than any other WR the Eagles have.  He plays aggressive, runs aggressive and catches aggressive.  It's a very OBJ in his first few years attitude.

Fulgham is in his second year.  They say the game slows down for WRs in their second year.   I suspect with all that has been thrown at Hightower, his head is spinning.   He will be much better when it slows down for him.  I suspect that may not take going into season two as much as he has played this year.  He probably will continue to catch with his body some.
