I don't know what you mean by contested general. Are you talking about the Presidency? Because I don't think a DSA will get anywhere near the Dem nomination.

Senate, Governor, or POTUS general elections. Maybe they can squeeze out a House race if the opposition is a shite candidate but that is likely to be rare. Solid blue states are a different matter.

Exactly. 90% of House seats are safe and uncompetitive in the general election - winning the primary is basically getting elected to the House. But...seeing this in state wide elections in purple states like Michigan, or even blue states like Minnesota, will be very interesting.

You're acting like Bernie wasn't runner up twice.  Another issue I expect to be very big in the next couple elections is the whole money in politics angle.  Kinda like the unions angle, it's hard to fathom how many people were duped by Trump's claim that he couldn't be bought because he was already rich (I know, I know, but it's a LOT of people who fell for it).  These DSA candidates are running as true small donor white knights and it's resonating.

There's no one in that vein that stands a chance in '28. Black southern Dems aren't nominating a woman this time, I can guarantee it, and they decide the Dem Prez nod more than anyone. So AOC doesn't have a shot. And there's no one else with the name recognition/experience/chops to make a run this cycle.

In terms of politics, 2028 is light years away. If we experience a significant setback financially and/or at war, you can almost be guaranteed the Dems will prevail in the 2028 presidential election. Otherwise, the Republicans look to have a stronger set of candidates than the Dems.

AOC is smartly and slowly distancing herself from the insanity out on the flanks. She stands a chance though 2028 is likely too early.

My leading ticket right now would prolly be Wes Moore/Pete Butigieg. But the landscape is ripe for somebody to come completely out of the blue.

Ossoff's been the recent riser with a solid chance. We're kind of running out of time for someone to come out of the blue, unless it's an existing famous person, but liberal famous people never run for sheet, so that's probably not gonna happen.

Agree for the most part. You seem way more bullish on Moore than anything I've seen, but I'm just noticing you have Ravens as your favorite team, so I guess there's a reason for that. I like Pete a lot but I wouldn't even put him on the ticket if I were a Dem Pres. No need to invite the gay debate. Dems are getting the gay vote no matter who they nominate.

He's the top black candidate in the field and gets a head start because he is 100% running (unlike say Shapiro who might decide to wait a cycle for the anti-Israel heat to calm down)
