September 30Sep 30 I'm against the narrative that the Eagles drafted him as a one yea or multi-year project and expected nothing from him this year. That's true for blocking but not receiveing. The TE room at the time of the draft consisted of a fragile as glass Goedert and stiffs like Jenkins, Latu, Mundt, Calc and TC bodies. You can't convince me they didn't expect a contribution from Stowers looking at that TE room. I don't care what they say in public but they have to be very disappointed in his contribution, which has been nothing.

But I do agree they probably expected something. There's still time for that to happen. Cam Jurgens was a 2nd round pick that sat on the bench his entire rookie season. He was considered a future replacement, not an immediate one.

Some guys just take longer to adjust to the pro game and improve. And when a team depends on them coming in and contributing at a high level right away, that's a dangerous game. I think they got some good talent over the last 2 drafts, but clearly they need more development time.

Stoutland's not here anymore, but he helped many O-linemen develop here. Hurts has developed a lot more than many expected when he was drafted. Look what we did with Zach Baun, Nakobe Dean, TJ Edwards and maybe Trotter Jr. at ILB. Jalyx Hunt, Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo were all good projects. We made Miles Sanders a Pro Bowler. Even though we don't pass a lot, our top 2 WRs were productive. We seem to be getting good play out of Wicks this year and Cooper looks good for a 2nd year undrafted player. You probably won't come into the NFL and play as well as Mitchell and DeJean right away without good coaching. I really don't have a whole lot to criticize when it comes to developing and coaching players positionally. Where the coaching seems to lack is in game preparation/management.

October 8Oct 8 I don't even remember his issue, just not ready so the IR'd him?Our TEs suck, might as well throw this kid in practice and start getting reps.

We're a little light at RB at the moment and the O-line is undergoing some big change. It may not be the best time to get Stowers game reps as much as I'd like to get him some real work.

October 15Oct 15 Stowers is an incomplete TE. Pass catcher only and we haven't even seen that so far at the NFL level. Picking the best guy among a weak position group is always a bad idea. You get a marginal player. Looks like Howie may have done that with this guy, but time will tell.
