I wonder if Lurie would even know where to begin to look for a viable GM.

Hopefully he’d have several consultants to help with the selection process.

I really can't believe our LBs, the GM has to be gone, like yesterday!!

BTW, the secondary isn't much better than the LBs.

It’s pretty awful what this GM has put together especially when you consider how much over the cap they will be next season with like 40 players under contract. The most expensive defensive line in football can’t even get to the quarterback consistently. Howie has done a terrible job.

I'm available.

Wentz has been straight up garbage this year. Just like McNabb back in the day, got married had a kid turned to trash on the football field

I think a lot of folks write that marriage excuse off but there's a good chance that it has a lot to do with his woes........not sure, don't know.

Watching Mahomes scramble makes me think of when Wentz use too..... maybe he needs to start running more. Mahomes just saved his team with that.

Watching Wentz and the offense in 2017 you see Wentz moving around, you see the run game used more,  you see RPOs used, you see uptempo used from time to time.  Now, you see none of that.

I don’t know if they are scared of him getting hurt again doing that so he’s doing it less but we might need it to win, he needs to go back to what made him in 2017, forget about gaining weight and trying to be something he’s not, lose some weight and start running wild lol

That's what made him dangerous and elite in 2017.  He was moving around quite a bit and throwing on the run.  Something he does well.  But since there's been none of that.

#truth.

I don't know, Goff was pretty bad last year.

I always love the overreaction early in the year. We act like nothing can possibly change  in the next 15 weeks. Obviously the 1st 2 weeks of the NFL are indicative of what will happen the rest of the season.

Did anyone catch that interview in the second quarter (I think) where they showed the old footage of Doug and Brett Favre, and the sideline correspondent said that she'd asked Doug if the conversations with Carson were the same kind that they were with Brett. According to her, Doug replied that they were mostly the same, except that (and I'm paraphrasing just a little bit here), as a backup, Doug explained that you could say to the starter, "Why didn't you throw it away?!" after an INT. But as a head coach, you can't go there, because you might turn the player off and that "misery is its own instruction" (or something pretty much exactly to that effect).

To me, this just confirmed a lot of what I posted in this thread earlier: Doug has no balls. He's not teaching, because he does not feel comfortable challenging Carson. He is too weak of a coach to actually get on Wentz's case a little and push bit and point out his mistakes to get his as$ in gear. I try to keep a level head and not get too down on a young player early in his career, so I'm still reserving final judgment on Wentz for at least this season. But I'm really starting to think that Doug has peaked.

Wentz at one point early in his career he was the clear cut NFL MVP through 14 weeks of the regular season. Nobody is really arguing that if he had not gotten hurt he was going to be the NFL MVP. During that season he flashed amazing high end skill set that he was able to translate on the field with the help of Doug and his coaching staff.  Fast forward a couple years and he will still flash that high end skill set from time to time but he has seemly regressed as a player and decision maker.

So my question is (FIRST PART)

How much of it is Wentz? He just all the sudden sucks now?

How much is that Doug and his new offensive staff isn't doing a good enough job getting the most out of Wentz?

I will leave the front office out of it as I believe their is enough talent on the office to not be the worst in the NFL or close to the worst.

(SECOND PART)

If Doug and Wentz can't make it work together who will go first?

If you think it is a coaching problem should we trade Wentz to the Colts so he can play under Reich who might have been the mastermind?

I personally think it's Carson and his lack of appreciation for mechanics. In 2017 Defillippo worked a lot on his mechanics and 3 years later his mechanics are way worse. Why? Tom Brady used to work every off season on just working on mechanics. Some of the media is speculating that Press Taylor is more of a friend than a coach. Well the results are there to see.

He’s also afraid to run at all and may have lost speed and athleticism from his injury so it makes him more one dimensional.

I agree with you. I think that there were moments even in 2017 when Carson’s mechanics would get out of whack and Deflip would get into Carson to get him back in line. When Deflip became available the Eagles didn’t touch him, because Carson didn’t like him putting so much pressure on him. It’s almost hard to believe but Carson is a bigger diva than we all realized.

Wouldn't that be coaching then?  Why didn't Doug bring back DeFilippo when he had a chance if they thought he was vital to Wentz success regardless of what Wentz thought of him?   If Doug is seeing mechanical flaws watching tape why isn't he hammering that home being a ex-quarterback himself?

This isn't two games, this is year five. It's also been constant regression since 2017.

Is there reports that Wentz didn't like DeFilippo or we just guessing?

Gonna have to agree with this and the fact that from all that we have seen and heard, wentz is just not coachable. I am starting to think 2017 was some kind of Mandela effect because looking at him now just makes me constantly cringe....

But what if....Doug is just not a good coach overall? He wasn't that great of a QB when he was....just serviceable. Maybe he isn't actually SEEING the mechanical flaws?

Yes. There are reports saying this. Wentz did not like DeFilippo as he was too hard on him. Otherwise why was he not considered when he became available?

So then that would lead me to believe it is a coaching problem over a QB problem wouldn't you?  If that is the case could you realistically get rid of Doug after he "brought" the organization their first super bowl?

Doug is more of a friend than a coach.  He needs to harder on his players and hold them accountable

There were reports as to why Deflip didn’t get the job.
