Jalen Hurts out for rest of season with blood clots

Whoever was involved in that decision should be fired immediately. I suspect an NFL investigation will start soon.

Only if they went against medical advice

It is the job or would be right for the coach or GM to go against medical advice, especially if is that playing / movement is better than not to play which seems to be the case here (unless the player expresses a desire not to play, then you have a extended conversation)

I see three main problems with what happened

  1. Apparently Jalen played in the London game with a known blood clot

  2. Apparently Jalen got little to no sleep before the game (we can question the 36 hour number of course)

  3. Apparently Jalen flew back on the plane with a blood clot that has since traveled to his lungs

Can't help but wonder... If Howie thinks this team can win now when healthy, the nfce being what it is, and all the draft capital the next 2 years..... Does he pull the trigger and trade for say.... Herbert?

I hope so, but if anyone at this point really think Herbert is the answer after year after year everyone saying he needs more talent around him thinks Herbert is the answer is crazy. I only want him here to let people get what they want. A bunch of useless stats that lead to nothing, but blaming everyone but the quarterback just like the old days.

The only answer is fire sale and draft the next franchise qb

I think the linemen would be more important than the quarterback. That franchise quarterback becomes David Carr if he’s back there getting crushed every game.

Unless the franchise qb is in the mold of Hurts or McNabb, and they have the ability to dodge tackles for a few years before we beef up the line

Thats what Hurts is for. This is potentially a top 5 pick. Have to go qb. Unless they trade Hurts, new guy is going to sit anyway.

Time to tank. This season is over.

It would be better to have a journeyman start for a year or at least part of it like they did with McNabb his first season. Let that guy take the beating.

Maybe.

His agent debunked the no sleep for 36 hours

Jalen played awful in that game though.

Absolutely

But his agent said he didn't stay up for 36 hours. The tweet was posted in the blog a few pages back. It was another one of those "wanting to be first rather than accurate" reportings

Right.

Like I said upthread, they probably let him sleep for a bit, woke him up, got him moving for a bit by stretching or walking. Wash, rinse, repeat. Over and over, until they could figure out what was wrong. You cannot let the clot "sit still”. They didn’t "sleep deprive” him for 36 hours straight. SMH.

Not to compare my health to this issue, but I’ve been hospitalized before, for days. Nurses would wake me up every 2-3 hours to check my vitals and give me meds. 11pm, 1am, 4am, 6am, etc…..it was necessary to not let me get into a deep sleep, due to my heart condition/issue. Once I was stabilized, BOOM, sleep away. Anyway……hope he is ok and gets better.

During that time how do you think you would have performed in a professional athletic event?

Doubt it. Though she probably wouldn't say it to anyone

I'm just saying his agent said he did get to sleep. We don't know all of the answers. Only what's given. We may know them a year from now or something when someone decides to do a tell all on the situation

Meanwhile. on X/Twitter there are calls for Lurie, Howie and others to be forced out because of this and the other owners and make Godell leave over this.

We should just bomb the UK and call it a night. Might as well bomb Canada too ... just because.

the EU will destroy itself or Russia will eat them. but Canada LFG. freaking traitors!

People are making waaaaaay too much of this. Some people gotta have their DRAMA.
Its as simple as this- crap happens. Life happens. Time and chance happen to everybody.

There is no avoiding it. You accept it and move forward and create a Plan B and C.

Given the timeline we’ve been given I don’t think Jalen was diagnosed with a blood clot until he got to the UK? And at that point the medical advice was he was okay to play and movement was key. So I can’t kill the team for that.

If this lack of sleep thing is true (seems Jalen and his team have debunked that?) then he shouldn’t have played purely from a not being at 100% and mentally being fried.

It does seem though like this is a really sad situation for Jalen but I’m not sure one I can kill the team for? Not based on what we’ve been told.
