I've never seen that come up. Try a different browser or device and see if it happens on those as well.

Also, are you logged in when it happens or viewing as a guest?

I was on PC, Chrome browser. The issue stopped as mysteriously as it began.

That is weird, I was thinking that maybe it was an ad, which only guests see. I've never had anything pop up on me like that unless I'm on my tablet (which isn't logged in as a member).

I do have the id.me extension on my browser.  It shows me if there are discounts for medical professionals when I am shopping on a website.

But there's nothing to buy here so, weird that EMB was offering me cash back.  I guess my posts are so good,  godaddy wants to pay me for my content that I post here.

Maybe it was detecting the Google Ads, even though they don't display for members. Just a guess though.

Any update on the upgrade that's supposed to fix the twitter links?

I just sent Mark an email to go ahead with the upgrade, so that'll get done as soon as his schedule permits.

Hopefully he knows to not do it during game time

He's in the UK, so game time (tonight anyway), would be very early morning over there. So I don't think there's a danger there. But I'll make sure.

How long does it take? And can you test it first or just take the upgrade and then see what happens.

It shouldn't take long and unless it's such a big upgrade that it alters the skin (which Mark will fix), nobody will likely even realize that it's being done. If there's any interruption on the board, it likely would be very short.

That is, unless Mark has Edwin do it for him...

It's done, Mark had a few hiccups he said, but he worked it out.

I tested the Twitter/X embedding and that's working now. So we're all set (until it has to be done again).

Test

I'm working on that, there's settings for it but so far, no go.

That was before your explanation in the other thread

There's supposed to be a way to enable Facebook and Instagram embedding, I've done the steps that are required but so far it's still not working. So I'll keep working on it as time allows. Hopefully I'll be able to get it working.

Board is just a tad slower today. Update or more than usual people on here?

I've only seen the slowness with my notification bell, but it could be the load due to the game. We'll see how it is once the game is over and we have fewer people reading/posting.

With regard to Facebook and Instagram, I've done the steps to allow embedding but I think Facebook has to review and approve (or not) it. So we'll give it a couple of days and see how it goes.

Yeah really slow right now, posting takes a while to save and pages loading slowly.

I am absolutely gutted right now. Completely devastated. Because of the update to the board that happened yesterday, I am totally screwed. I use old technology and yesterday's so-called "upgrade" actually ruined things for me. I usually operate from the computer in the basement that I've used for many, many years although sometimes I operate from an IPad that someone gave me about three years ago. Any kind of what I would consider to be a decent comment would be written on the computer. When I comment while using the IPad, I generally kind of limit myself to two or three lines. (I'm a very good typist on a keyboard but on an IPad it is too awkward to type properly so I limit myself.)

@VaBeach_EagleWhat has happened is that the box at the bottom of screen that says "Reply to this topic" has shrunk (about a quarter of its normal size) to the point that it is inoperable. It is simply impossible to put a cursor in there. As a consequence, I cannot respond to anything. I had this exact same thing happen to me a year or so ago on the Redskins message board site. They had a very good board with some very good commentary (their draft stuff was superb). I used to enjoy keeping a pulse on that team and on rare occasions I would interject with some comments of my own. Not often. I would hardly consider myself an active participant on their board. But every now and then, yes. But as I said, that very same issue hit me a year or so ago and I could not make any replies. This wasn't a huge, huge deal but it was annoying. I was comforted however in knowing that OUR site still worked for me.

Until yesterday.

Oh sure, I can still read pages and pages of comments but I simply cannot reply, which takes the fun out of everything. And as I've said, I've used this site (in various forms of course) for a couple decades now. It has become part of my daily life. But I'm screwed. Yes, I may be able to -- as I'm doing know -- find an alternate computer that works for me. But this is not something that is convenient. In fact I would consider it inconvenient.

So I really don't know what to do. I have tried in vain in the past to find a workaround to this problem but I've never been able to solve it.

I guess I always knew this was inevitable. I supposed that improvements to websites can have disastrous side effects. I am that side effect. And it sucks.

  • Keyboard: Press and hold the Control key, then press the + key to zoom in. To zoom out, press the - key. To return to the default view, press and hold Control, then press 0.

  • Mouse: While holding down Control, scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

  • Trackpad: On a laptop, place two fingers together on the trackpad to zoom in, then move your fingers apart. To zoom out, place your fingers apart on the trackpad, then move them together.

Maybe try this?
