July 28, 20241 yr Interesting they are bringing back the Russo Brothers and Downey Jr. The positive take is they are bringing back people who were there at the peak of Marvel and know what works on screen, the negative is they are in desperation mode after a number of years of poor TV and films, so are reheating leftovers to try and make money. Interested and curious to see how it goes, but I hope there isn't more multiverse stuff going forward. Its a dead horse that has been badly flogged. A normal superhero film will do nicely now

A normal superhero film will do nicely now The multiverse made Deadpool & Wolverine (and cameos) possible. Same with fan favorites Loki series, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Sony's Spiderverse series. There were "normal superhero films" that were mostly bad or average. The worst ones were not multiverse stories: Thor 4, The Marvels, Eternals, Wakanda Forever, The Falcon & Winter Soldier, Secret Invasion, Ms. Marvel, Echo, She-Hulk. There were plenty of good or average ones that weren't multiverse like GOTG3, Moon Knight (I didn't like it but many did), Hawkeye, Black Widow, WandaVision, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man Quantumania. The upcoming Captain America, Thunderbolts, Daredevil, Blade, Agatha All Along and Ironheart aren't multiverse. The multiverse isn't the problem. Fans want to see characters brought back for Secret Wars. It's going to happen, we just have to hope it's done well.

They did, but it also gave us America Chavez and Wandavision.I am so glad that Deadpool was good, glad that its made a ish ton of money because it even the most stubborn exec will see the revenues, and think, there is demand there. But I won't miss the Multiverse at all. It's become a lazy storytelling tool.

Wanda herself appeared in Doctor Strange 2 and travelled the multiverse, but not the TV show. And I already acknowledged Doctor Strange was not a big hit, it was average. These things can be subjective. But the biggest hits since Endgame have all had the multiverse except GOTG3. It's fine to not want to see more multiverse, but it's clearly not going away. And again, look at the list of content after Endgame. Most of it has been "normal" and nothing to do with the multiverse, but a lot of it sucked. So the problem in the MCU isn't the multiverse.

Probably my #1 reason why I have been out on Marvel.

Stark's was in the sacred (main) timeline. They don't "mean nothing." But understandable if you just don't like multiverse content. What MCU shows or movies have you liked since Endgame?

I don't mind the multiverse concept - Stargate SG1 did some multiverse stuff that actually worked well overall for the story. Fringe had some good multiverse moments too but did get silly at one point. But the Marvel stuff with Wanda, Dr Strange and Kang was just not good. For Dr Doom, I am 80% excited because of the Russo's and Downey Jr, but 20% not trusting Marvel quite yet.

Spoiler I'll have to re-watch it again when it's released to streaming cause I'm sure there's stuff I missed, particularly with the time in the Void. Just a really fun movie with plenty of action and plenty of laughs.

Multiverse is to setup Secret Wars like Infinity Saga was to setup for Endgame
