I never understood why Dems didn't play up the fact that Trump's an atheist more. They should've treated his election as an historic moment when the first atheist was elected President, finally breaking the glass ceiling.
November 12, 20204 yr Republicans are mindless sheep believing anything Trump Says. Voter Fruad. There must be. Hoax, yes. They believe just because he says it.

The democrats remind me of a bunch of ex hippies from the 60's and generally that's what their campaigns always look like. It's why they lose more often than not.

It's why they lose more often than not. In a lot of cases, they are ex-hippies, but I honestly think it has less to do with Dem leadership and more to do with the "liberal media". Unlike Republican media, where you can listen to talk radio in the morning, the marching orders are sent out and then hear the exact same things repeated word for word all throughout the day - on Fox, on talk radio, on the internet, by both politicians and message board idiots (Kz) alike - the liberal media doesn't work with that kind of coordination. They try to hold themselves to some unseen and irrelevant code of conduct that no one on Fox (excluding a couple like Wallace), OAN, etc, cares even a little bit about. They think they need credibility, but no one in right wing media has any credibility and that doesn't seem to matter to their viewers (Kz). It likely has to do with the average liberal being more educated and not particularly interested in just being simply a cog in a messaging machine (something Republicans are happy to be and, in fact, get upset if they aren't), but the result is that they can never stay on message, and end up always chasing Republican talking points.

LBJ's "Daisy" ad was the last time I can remember the democrats being particularly vicious the way the republicans are. Liberals do tend to be more educated, I seem to remember the term "Starbucks liberals" to describe the majority of the party, suburbanites with college degrees and a nice single family home in the suburbs. However, I don't think that precludes a campaign from being vicious or on the attack. Quite the opposite, I think people would find it refreshing. Bill Maher is savage when he goes after republicans. The Lincoln project was designed to irritate Trump and his supporters as much as possible. Both are generally well received among liberals as far as I know.

Maher's a great example of how you thread that needle if you're a Democrat. A comedian would be a perfect vessel for the liberal message with an actual punch behind it. It diffuses the liberal sense of decency and makes the message more palatable in general. It's why I was pulling for Jon Stewart to get in the race a year ago.
