Otherwise, you've really got nothing to offer.

On the one hand, people might become slightly more conservative as they age, but I think what's more of a factor is that liberal ideology generally drifts leftward and leaves people somewhere further right on the spectrum. So, for example, I don't feel like my views have shifted much since I was 18. I'm basically as "liberal" as I was then if only with a more nuanced view of things, but what has definitely changed is that Democratic policies have drifted so far leftward that occupying the same positions that I held 15 years ago makes me look comparatively moderate. I think, generally, policies drift leftward more than people drift rightward. I actually completely agree with you on your analysis. 24 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said: Are you feeling okay? Do you need a Snickers? I was responding to a post about you not understanding the popularity of vaccine mandates. The second half of my post wasn't in reference to you. For the record, I'm already vaccinated. I'm in favor of vaccines, just not in favor of mandating and dictating their usage to private businesses. And yes, I would in fact love a Snickers and am going to now go raid my son's halloween candy.

At the very least, government mandates are more pragmatically imposed at the state or county level rather than at the federal level. In any case though, vaccine mandates remain popular for a simple reason, a majority of Americans want a safe and healthy workplace environment, and unvaccinated employees present a clear and imminent potential hazard to anyone they come in contact with. That might make some low-info idiots sad, because they misinterpret freedom to mean they can do whatever the F they want wherever they go, but if they were able to understand the definition of words, they wouldn't be idiots now would they?

Just because something is popular doesn't mean we should countenance it. I am 100% in favor of allowing employers to mandate vaccination, and the GOP idiots that are trying to ban that at the state level are ridiculous. But I am also 100% against using OSHA to enforce a government mandate on workers. I've said many times there are ways to accomplish this goal (no federal contracts for companies that don't mandate vaccination, indemnify insurers for denying benefits to the unvaccinated) that don't trample on the Constitution.

Agreed, but the context was him arguing mandates were unpopular, when clearly they aren't. Whether we should implement a policy simply because it's popular is different and I agree that a lot of popular policies are stupid. But I'd never deny the fact that they are indeed popular, because you know, I understand how basic math works. As for the constitutionality, I don't expect it to be found unconstitutional by the SCOTUS. Whether they should is up for debate, depending on the limits you think should be placed on OSHA's role when it was envisioned. I can be swayed there, but precedent seems pretty strong in favor of the mandate based on what I've seen.

The vaccine mandate was a banner moment in CVON. We went from "Biden isn't doing anything to slow the spread of COVID" to "Literally Hitler" in the span of a 5 day work week.

November 5, 20213 yr Is this the build back better we heard so much about? Hmm how can i sneak into Mexico and cross back illegally and be an illegal immigrant? I mean who wouldn't want to do that? Who voted this guy in?
November 5, 20213 yr Relax BDS'ers. Biden's time in office is almost done! The time of Trump and JFK JR draws nigh! Soon JFK JR will rise from the pumpkin patch, dropping MAGA hats for all the children who believe in him! Quote TheHill.com Hundreds of QAnon supporters gather in Dallas expecting return of JFK Jr. BY OLAFIMIHAN OSHIN - 11/03/21 10:14 AM EDT 2,048 Hundreds of QAnon supporters have gathered in Dallas expecting the return of John F. Kennedy Jr., who they believe would then help reinstate former President Trump, The Dallas Morning News reported. The first wave of supporters gathered in downtown Dallas on Monday night as another wave of supporters gathered the next day near Dealey Plaza, where former President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. According to Newsweek, a post from a wildly popular QAnon account said that after Trump is reinstated as president, he will step down so Kennedy Jr. can become president. The post also claimed that former national security adviser Michael Flynn would be appointed as JFK Jr.’s vice president, making Trump the "King of Kings.” Most definitely not a cult!

Yeah it's a great plan to discourage people from crossing into US from the Mexico border Illegally. Lets pay them $450K of US dollars to do so. That will not only show them, it will slow down the surge...... Much like how defund the police slows down crime. BRILLIANT! ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.....
